Taurus (90)

Sephora Taurus (90) Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a soft, light-medium brown with muted, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without dragging.

The texture was lightweight, creamy but not too slippery, and had good adhesion without emphasizing my lip texture. It stayed on nicely for four and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.14 oz. - $57.14 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "lightweight" with "full-coverage color in one swipe." The majority of shades were pigmented with semi-opaque to full color payoff in a single layer, as described. The more shimmery shades tended to be a bit sheerer overall, while the mattes and creams were usually closer to opaque in coverage.

The textures were typically creamy, lightweight, and not too thin or too thick on the lips, so they were comfortable to apply and to wear. There were some shades where the color pulled into my deeper lip lines upon application, and it was more or less noticeable just depending on the color and finish of the particular.

Some shades seemed hydrating and others were non-drying. They lasted anywhere from three to over six hours on me. There was a subtle, sweet, fruity scent (I couldn't detect it on, just in the tube), and I haven't noticed any taste after wearing them.

Gemini (91)

Sephora Gemini (91) Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright, medium pink-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. The texture was too slippery for ideal application of color, so there was slight streaking along the edges with color settling into my lip lines over time. It had opaque pigmentation, and the lipstick itself was comfortable to wear. It lasted for three and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

Cancer (92)

Sephora Cancer (92) Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that wasn’t too firm or too soft, so the lipstick glided readily over my lips but the color had good adhesion. This shade wore well for five hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

I’m tempted by Cancer (what a strange statement THAT is) but I was so underwhelmed by the one Lipstories lipstick I have (a cream that should, by rights, be a favourite) that I’m reluctant to get any more of them. I’d rather just buy another tube of MAC Craving or Sephora’s Rouge Lacquer lipsticks. Both are more expensive (not a lot, though) but I know they’re products I’ll use and enjoy.

Years ago, I saw at least one published astrologer who was trying to change the name of that horoscope sign to “Moon Children.” It seems it didn’t catch on.

Taurus looks cool. That’s about it. I’m a Gemini and have yet to see anything marketed to me that actually looks even remotely close to something I would enjoy. This is another fail.
