Sephora Mysterious Plum (100) & Sun Stone (106) Cream Lip Stains Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Mysterious Plum (100)
Sephora Mysterious Plum (100) Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a deep purple with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a smooth, fluid consistency that was creamy but dried down within 20 seconds on me. The color applied evenly on my lips and didn’t dry down and emphasize my lip lines too much (just slightly). It was still wearing quite well after eight hours of wear, though it felt a touch drying after six and a half hours of wear.

Formula Overview
$14.00/0.169 oz. - $82.84 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "high-coverage" that goes on "smooth" and yields a "silky, lightweight stain" that is "long-lasting" and "never sticky" and "won't dry out lips." One of the signature traits for the formula is that it is a thinner (and yet somehow creamy) texture that does spread well but feels thin and very lightweight on the lips. It dries down quickly, but I never felt like it was troublesome to apply, even if I needed an extra moment to get around the edges of my lips, so it was a more forgiving formula despite setting more quickly. Once it set, the color did stay locked on for hours--I tested shades for around eight hours and many were still going strong. The formula was non-drying to slightly drying to me. They had a moderately strong, sweet scent (almost like burnt sugar) that also smelled just slightly "perfume-y" to me, but it seemed to dissipate after an hour of wear.
The pigmentation varied from shade to shade, but it did seem that the more shimmery and metallic shades often were less pigmented and did not always apply as evenly and sometimes seemed to sit in my lip lines. The cream/matte shades applied more evenly and had more opaque coverage on average.

Mysterious Plum (100)
PPermanent. $14.00.
Sun Stone (106)
Sephora Sun Stone (106) Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is medium-dark, red-copper with warm undertones and a pink, metallic sheen. It had good color payoff, though it wasn’t opaque in a single layer. The consistency was slightly thinner than the cream/matte shades, but it had similar creaminess and slip, which made it easy to spread across my lips for even coverage. The color dried down quickly but did dry down to a less-flattering finish that emphasized my lip lines and lip texture more noticeably. The liquid lipstick stayed on well for seven hours but was slightly drying.

Sun Stone — so pretty. Copper and pink… I shall check it out
Love both! Mysterious Plum looks absolutely perfect for wintertime. Or any time I may want to rock a deep, mysterious looking lip!
Sun Stone is very sunny and beachy looking in color. As for the undesirable effect of this one emphasising lip lines, I suppose wearing MAC Prep & Prime lips under this would remedy that.
Wow that’s beautiful. And the price. I may “splurge” on my no-buy. 😉
Sunstone is pretty!
Sun Stone is a divine shade. Love it.
Mysterious Plum is really pretty, but wa-a-ay too dark for me! From being into this blog for a couple years I’ve learned that lipstick looks a shade or two darker on me than on Christine, a knowledge that has really helped me make good buying decisions. So although Mysterious Plum looks drop dead gorgeous on you, Christine, it would make my lips look tiny and black. LOL!!!
Both these shades are lovely. However, I will probably pass on these. Mysterious Plum is a little too dark, particularly for summertime and Sun Stone is a bit too metallic. I do have a lot of liplines so I am wary of any product that may emphasize these.
Sun Stone was another one of the 4 new shades I was interested in., mostly the new metallics they brought out. 😉
I look nice but a lot warmer than the online swatches. lol
