Scarlet Season: Blue-Based Reds Round-up

Lots of cool, more blue-based reds… Of course, it’ll come as no surprise, but Chanel’s Dragon is definitely one of my favorite reds.  It’s almost neutral, but I’d still say it runs just a wee bit cool (and it’s definitely not orange-y–that’s Coromandel!).  I also really enjoyed Dolce & Gabbana’s Ruby, Guerlain’s Greta, and MAC Russian Red.

I don’t think you can really go wrong with any of the reds featured throughout the Scarlet Season, just because none of them were bad.  They’re all respectable shades of red.  I think it’s really about what kind of red you’re looking for (the finish, the hue, the brightness, the undertone!).  So…

Which have you been your favorites?

Wow! Thanks for posting these all next to each other! You can really see how they all compare with one another – I LOVE that Chanel’s Dragon is the one that really stands out from the croud too! (I spotted it RIGHT away!)

Christine – Not that you need even MORE to do (LOL), but I would love to see similar charts like this one for purples, corals, etc. I love your “Must Haves” (I actually have them printed out in a folder) but this side-by-side comparison is really a great idea! So helpful!!!

Thanks (again!)
Dusty

No problem! 🙂

I’ll be doing The Spring Season, which is light/soft nudes, pinks, and corals. For summer, brighter corals, bold pinks, and a few other bright shades. For fall, I’ll be doing plums and berries. Don’t know if I’ll be doing squat-diddly for holiday next year, lol!

Hey! Two questions.

Out of all the lipsticks here, which one is the most matte?

Also, are you going to group the ones that are more neutral together? Thank you!

I just picked up Chanel’s Dragon and I am very impressed. The formula is great and the feel on my lips is wonderful; and then there’s the staying power and the no cracking or drying out. Perfection!

I was at South Coast Plaza tonight and treated myself to Dragon as my birthday gift, well that and the Flip Mino HD :). I was wondering though what lipliner you use with it? They applied it and used one of their lipliners but I didn’t purchase it…
