Round-up: Makeup Geek Blushes Thoughts & Comparisons

Makeup Geek Blushes

Makeup Geek Blushes ($9.99 for 0.15 oz.) are a much welcomed addition to the world of blush!  The formula is amazing, and the price point just makes it all the sweeter, but these perform just as well as any other A-rated blush at $30+ (that’s why price doesn’t impact the ratings, so an A product is an A product, whether $5 or $50!).  The texture is phenomenal, as they’re soft, smooth, and blendable but not powdery.  They have good color payoff, wear well, and are all-around worth considering if you’re in need of blush.  I’d like to see a few deeper shades for darker skin tones, as well as a couple of contour and highlighting shades, added to the range in the future.

Thank you so much Christine for these reviews! Bliss, Honeymoon and Spell bound are on my wish list! Can’t wait that Makeup Geek has it back in their stocks!

Now if she would just get them back in stock. I spent hours trying to order the first and second days they were available and the site was overwhelmed. I was told to wait until the next day to order, that they had plenty. Wrong?? Almost all OOS. The one I managed to order, secret Admirer is lovely

Pretty tempting price! Not sure what I’d choose for me, but Spell Bound looks great on you, while still being very “low key”. Romance is really nice too, though yet another Orgasm dupe.

Christine, all these blushes look so lovely I don’t know which one to pick! I have a question that doesn’t relate to the blushes but it is related to the eyeliner(s) you are wearing in the photos. I purchased two Marc Jacobs eyeliners that I’ve seen in your photos but I cannot get anywhere near the pigmentation you are getting. Like you, I have light-medium skin with warm undertones. I am going to return these eyeliners to sephora if I can’t get the opaque color I see in your photos. Any suggestions?

I so hope she brings out more colors. I really REALLY want highlighters and contour colors ( maybe a nyx taupe dupe, love the color but hate the packaging of nyx ) And of course like a Nars Exhibit A dupe. I have Exhibit A but for some weird reason it goes really really blotchy on my face after an hour of wear and thats the only blush that does it to me. Ijust want so many more colors.. Because I TOO, AM GREEDY.

Oooh I likey the new format for the over all verdict rounds! Very nice Christine! Ofcourse being that they all look beautiful on you in the swatches you’re probably driving sales way up for Marlena lol but Spell Bound & Infatuation are my favourites. Thanks for making this (picking the right colours) so easy ( and hard at the same time:) )

I am cool toned, but tend to go more for more natural or neutral colors. Seems like even though I’m cool toned, the pinks just go TOO pink on me. Which of these blushes would you think are middle of the road, or, colors that cool or warm could wear. They are really pretty and look gorgeous on you.

A few of the shades I wanted were out of stock, but I ended up getting Rendezvous, Honeymoon, and Bliss. Really love Rendezvous and Bliss! I don’t have a pink quite like Rendezvous (such a nice balance of warm/cool!) and Bliss is like Nars Orgasm’s very, very subtle, toned-down sister if you ask me! haha. Well, I guess I am really comparing it to Sleek’s Rose Gold blush, an almost-dupe for Orgasm that I have always preferred because it is less sparkly. I know MUG’s Romance is also supposed to be very similar to Orgasm and looks a lot like my Sleek Rose Gold blush so I’m not too bummed that one was sold out.

Surprisingly Honeymoon, which I thought would be my favorite, I’m not crazy about. It has that loose glitter look that I usually avoid. Haven’t tried it on yet but, just based on swatching it. I will try it though, I know blending can minimize the glitter.

Thanks for the reviews of these new blushes Christine, your swatches definitely helped my choose which ones to buy! 🙂

I really want to buy some Makeup Geek blushes but I’m not sure if they’d all show up on my skin. I use a C4 in the Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus so I’m probably around a NC35-40. Do you have any suggestions on which shades will show up?
