Bliss

Rare Beauty Bliss Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a medium peach with moderate, warm undertones paired with a flat, matte finish. It seemed to be balanced between pink and orange undertones, so it may appear pinker or more orange depending on one’s natural undertones.

The consistency was lightweight, airy, and very thin with a lot of glide–it felt more serum-like as a result and less like a traditional liquid blush. It was very, very quick to dry down, so there was not a lot of time to apply and blend it out, which made it less forgiving of over-application and making mistakes. Once it dried down, it was very transfer-resistant, and the only way to soften without lifting up most base products or getting patchiness in the actual cheek color was to diffuse the edges with a bit of foundation.

It had opaque color coverage with little product, so less than a dab would do well for each cheek (and then build up if necessary). It wore decently for eight and a half hours before fading.

The blush is supposed to have "long-lasting color pigments" that last "all-day" where "a little goes a long way." That being said, they also say it "blends and builds beautifully," though when one looks at the "how to" instructions, I could see that being achievable as they actually say to remove excess and then use one or two dots of product on each cheek. The line-up has includes four shades in a true, flat matte finish and four shades in a lightly, dewy finish.

Like a lot of the liquid products in the brand's range, they have a lot more slip and feel more serum-like, but a little did go a long way with respect to pigmentation. First and foremost, to control application, I would recommend dotting (lightly!) once or twice per cheek but I would work one cheek at a time, especially with the matte finish. I also felt using a sponge or brush worked well for diffusing and spreading about the blush better than fingertips when working over a base as fingertips seemed to leave slight imprints and seemed more prone to lifting up product.

When in doubt, use the least amount possible! I liked dabbing a bit on the back of my hand and using a fluffy, duo-fiber brush to apply to cheeks, which gave me a better diffusion with less chance of lifting up base product. This method worked best with the dewier finish blushes as there was enough playtime, but the matte blushes dried down faster and I had to use more product to keep it malleable on the back of my hand. The dewy finish shades have a light sheen but dry down enough that they don't slide around during wear. The matte shades fully dry down.

They wore between eight and nine hours on me before showing signs of fading. Though I haven't been able to find a clip I can reference specifically to it, I've had multiple readers state that the brand owner (Selena Gomez) has mentioned that the packaging was designed to be easier to open. I found that to be true of the flattened, knob-like tops found on the liquid blushes, as it took little pressure to twist open.

I have this on my wishlist and I was kind of hoping reading this review would make it easier to cross it off but it’s just so pretty. The quick dry time gives me pause though as blending liquid or cream products isn’t my strength in the first place. I’ll probably still get it though.

I love the idea of a transfer proof blush! LOL, especially these days. Thank you, as always for your comprehensive reviews! I like this color but already have the Flower Beauty one…..maybe another shade will catch my eye

Lovely blush. Did you use a brush or a blender or your finger to apply? Did you find one better than the other? I have to admit that I my initial application of products like these, is to tap on with my finger and tap it out and then diffuse with a brush or blender. Curious if you found one better than the other.

This is the one I picked up. I found the easiest application method is to place one dot on the back of my hand, dip my beauty blender into the blush then blot off any excess on my hand before I apply. I love this blush, it never budged and I live in Florida.
