Quick Eyes with NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo
Quick Eyes with NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo
In an effort to show how wearable the rosy shade was in Grand Palais, I used the duo in a quickie look before I did lip swatches for NARS’ fall lip products.
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Â NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (primer), NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo (taupe / dusty mulberry), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow (highlighter), NARS Rue Bonaparte Larger Than Life Eyeliner (nude), NARS Via Appia Larger Than Life Eyeliner (coppery brown), Hourglass Film Noir Mascara (black)
- Face: Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation (02/03), Guerlain Les Violettes Mineral Powder (03)
- Cheeks:Â NARS Cassandre Cream Blush (plum)
- Lips: NARS Pago Pago Lipstick (pinked nude)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pencil brush), 188 (small, circular stippling brush)
For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof all over the lid and above the crease with the 249 to lay down your eyeshadow base.  Apply the taupe shade all over the lid with the 239, and then lightly sweep and diffuse the muted mulberry shade into the crease with the 222.  Diffuse the crease edge with Trench eyeshadow using the 217.  Next, apply Rue Bonaparte eyeliner on the lower water line and Via Appia eyeliner on the lower lash line. Coat lashes with Film Noir mascara to finish the look.
For cheeks, apply Cassandre on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 188.
For lips, apply Pago Pago lipstick for a complementing lip.
I wanted this duo, but not enough to go out and buy it, BUT now I feel like I need it! It’s so up my alley.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this look!
I’m so happy you like it! 🙂
It looks amazing Christine !!! Wish Nars was available here !!!
Thanks so much, Swathi!
Perfect, i think the only thing that can be better in the look is using a darker berry color on the crease, but you look really pretty in that look Christine and I think this look can be an every day look, so gourgeous.
Thank you, Yasmin! 🙂
Hey Christine I just had to tell you that your skin is amazing but lately your skin looks flawless in all the pictures.
Thank you, Diana!
Very cute and neutral. You look lovely. =]
Thanks, Vijaya! 🙂
So pretty and wearable! Thanks Cristine!
Aww, thanks Suzy! 🙂
I love it! I love Nars products, this one is no exception! Beautiful and colors I enjoy. Great!
Thank you!
I’m temptend, I’m tempted!
Is the blush a new product from NARS? I haven’t heard of it.
Kooks fresh, natural and dewy! Thumbs up, Christine! I love you make-up skills and your red lipsticks also, but this suits you best. Red carpet – go and glow!
Thank you, Andrea!
Looks beautiful on you! I love Grand Palais, but I keep thinking it would look nicer on dark-eyed girls. You definitely make it tempting, though.
Thanks a lot, Kate!
You look fab as always, Christine!!
Aww, thanks Hing! 🙂
OH NOOOOO, it looks so good you make me want it! Beautiful!
Thank you, Jennifer!
Such a natural beauty look. I for one think it was dumb to vote off tutorials! You did a stunning job.
Thanks, Jackie!
I think this look is beautiful! I was afraid of this duo being too cool-toned for my NC30 skin, but now it just seems perfect! Not the “no makeup” look but still minimal in the best way!
Thanks, Audrey! 🙂
I’ve heard that the Mac pro store in new York is more expensive than regular stores and counters even for non pro items, is that true? And what is better for contouring, Mac shape powder in “sculpt” or Mac pro blush in taupe? Are they similar hues?
MAC items are the same price at all MAC stores (in each country). I prefer Sculpt. I don’t know how similar they are, sorry!
gorgous neutral look on u!
Thanks, Evo! 🙂
That looks so lovely on you!
Thanks, Rebecca!
i know its totally off topic, but don’t mac’s glamglass come out today online?
They were pushed back. There is no update in information from MAC, so I have nothing to update with other than nobody has information about if or when or why.
Lovely look Christine! Simple yet elegant. You look beautiful 😀 I think I am going to get the Nars duo…I was kind of afraid that it would look like a bruise on my eyes, but I am NC25 with brown eyes, same combo as you…and I think it looks quite lovely on you! now…if I only had the same makeup skills that you have…LOL
Thank you, Eva!
This is a gorgeous look!
the nude color lipstick looks great on you.iam looking forward to seeing the mac glamglass collection swatches
Thanks, Chakki! 🙂
Those are definitely very soft and wearable shades. They look great on you, too! I never would have thought to pair my warm taupes with a dusty rose. Perhaps I can copy this look using one of my blushes. Thanks for posting this up. =)
No problem, Christina! Glad you liked it! 🙂
THAT is super gorgeous. I’m your color, I’m buying everything. Thanks!
Glad you liked it, Cara!!!
Beautiful! Very neutral, but still pretty 🙂
Thanks, Debora!
Love this! Thanks for posting a nice, work-friendly look.
Glad you liked it, Lyss!
Gorgeous! That would be a good look for work. I may be buying these soon!
Thanks, Lindy! 🙂
Gorgeous ! & thanks for posting this quick look ! <3
Thanks, Bernice!
Please do a review on the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation. I see you wearing it quite a bit. Is it meant for oily skin? It looks fab on you! 🙂
Thank you for the suggestion!
me likey!
Thank ya, Mia! 🙂
LOVE this look Christine!!! I was wanting Grand Palais and Pago Pago before, and now there’s no turning back! Probably one of my favorite looks you’ve ever done. LOVE!!!
Thanks, LC!
Lovely :))
Looks absolutely beautiful on you. I love how this duo is wearable and unusual at the same time!
I’m glad you liked it, Julia! 🙂
So pretty!
Thank ya, Rachel! 🙂
The eyeshadow, blush, and lips all play off each other really beautifully here. Very nice and natural.
Thanks, Estella!
Love your tutorials!! Please keep doing them.
Thanks! Will do! 🙂
YES! I’ve been wanting a new Look for SO LONG!
This may have to be my first NARS duo…Lovely for every day and also a great option (when blended with and lined with a deep chocolate brown, for example) for a non-traditional smoky eye. That mulberry shade is unlike anything else I have in my collection and is surprisingly flattering!
Yesterday, I wrote a comment to you asking you to still include some of these tutorials. You are so awesome to do one today! 🙂 Anyway, I wrote off that eyeshadow duo as being completely unworkable for me (I am fair with a lot of red in my complexion). Seeing how lovely this looks on you, I think I might go to sephora and swatch it (if they have it). Such a lovely, light look. Everything you used on this look just screams you are so beautiful!
Thank you, Elly!
Ah I think that is the perfect first date look 🙂
I think you’re right, Jana! 🙂
Lindo!!! Very beautuful!!!
Thanks, Adrianna! 🙂
your eyes look AMAZING! Also the over all face is so cohesive – it all flows together so well. I am used to seeing you with more splotches of color and I like this look for you a whole lot with it being more cohesive but not too soft since you have darker tones. GREAT look on you.
Thanks, Meme!
Beautiful look! You’ve got so beautiful eyes 🙂
I by the way LOVE this lipstick (at least on you), and are completely torn between this one, Pago Pago, and Montego Bay.
My skin is something around a NW15, with blue eyes and quite dark brown hair. Which one should I go for first? 🙂
Nevermind, Montego Bay apparently was the one I craved the most – I clicked “Buy” almost without realizing it…. Can’t wait!
(Just hope it suits my skintone…. Oh well, I can sit and stare at it!)
Montego Bay!
Really pretty Christine! Loved this look on you! Gotta say I love your smile!!
Aww, thank you so much Leticia! 🙂
What a cute and wearable look. I hope to see more face of the day posts in the future, because they are always inspire me.
Thanks, Nicole!
Sort of reminds of of MAC’s Haux. I wonder how it compares.
Hmm I thought the same thing about it being similar to MAC’s Haux. What do you think Christine? Such a gorgeous combo though and I’m sure I’ll pick it up regardless! hehe
christine, i’ve been hemming and hawing because i think grand palais and pago pago are such pretty colors – i’m so getting these because of this look. beautiful colors, and you look totally amazing!
Thanks, AmyD!
Really beautiful! You look great with this makeup! Thanks for sharing it 🙂
Thanks, Mer! 🙂
This is my favorite look I’ve ever seen you do! And I’ve seen you do like, hundreds. Dammit NARS, must you be so expensive!!
Glad you liked it! 🙂
Yay! Tutorials back! Looking forward to seeing more of them coming 🙂
Such a gorgeous look Christine!!!! Looks beautiful on you. I really want to try this look but Im the type of girl who always wears liquid eyeliner with every look I try. Do you have any tips of how I can try this look out without looking like the walking dead since im not going to be wearing my liquid eyeliner?
Thank you, Leslie!
Honestly – I bet you just have to get used to seeing yourself without it!
You look incrediblely nice. I love it!
Thanks, Kathy! 🙂
I wasn’t at all interested in the Grand Palais duo because of the rosy shade but this makes me want it! I love that it’s a work-friendly look too. As a recent grad who just got hired for my first job, I suppose my default shimmery gold smokey eye that I use for just about everything won’t work lol. Thanks for posting this!
Thats a beautiful and fresh look!! 🙂 You look lovely!! 😀
Thank you!! 🙂
Are you testing the Lingerie de Peau foundation here? How are you liking it so far? I thought Parure Gold was your favorite. Will we expect to see a Lingerie de Peau review sometime soon?
Not sure yet, sorry!
That lipstick looks lovely on you! Just like your lips but better (:
Thanks, Jordan !! 🙂
I have ordered this duo because I heard the taupe shade was close to Chanel Rose Platine waterproof eyeliner (which is my fav and I love that color). I can’t wait to receive it ! thanks for the great tutorial, it looks absolutely gorgeous on you !
Thank you, Sonia! 🙂
Looks awesome, I like this look :)!
Thanks, Constanze!
I liked it before and know I love it!!One of my next purchases, for sure. And thanks a lot for the tutorial Christine – some of us really miss them 😉
Thanks, Ana!
YYYAAAYY! TUTORIALS ARE BACK!!!
This is SUCH a beautiful look.
Thank you! 😉
Gawjus!
Thank you, Stephanie!

Thanks, KayeQ!
I ♥ the lipstick!
My God, Christine, this is such a great look for you! it’s so natural, but makes you really glow!
This is the definition of sexy.
Thank you, Dinah!
Such a lovely and fresh look, Christine! And I am so glad “looks” is back. Looking forward to more! Thanks. 🙂
Thank you, Malen!
so pretty and easy to wear this look is and as always you did full justice to the eyeshadows and lips
everything looking wonderful and your smile is sure shot winner honey 😀 😀
Love this look, I want to get this duo, this lipstick, and that eyeliner. At some point…I will get all of this haha
Thanks!
It’s weird but I have just bought this duo and the result is completely different in my eyes! I find it mauve/purplish than reddish! The look I have done is: UDPP as a primer — Paint pot Painterly as a base — The mauve side all over the lid — the pinkish side in the crease — Mac Mistery on the outer corner and lower lash line — Mac Nylon over the browbone — Brown eyeliner pencil on the upper lashes — Black mascara
Another combination more reddish is putting a golden shadow all over the lid and then the pinkish side in the crease and outer corner. Then you get a beautiful autumm look 🙂
I really love this. I’m bookmarking this look.
Thanks, Liz!
Any dupes for the colors used in this look?
