Quick Eyes with NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo

Quick Eyes with NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo

In an effort to show how wearable the rosy shade was in Grand Palais, I used the duo in a quickie look before I did lip swatches for NARS’ fall lip products.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof all over the lid and above the crease with the 249 to lay down your eyeshadow base.  Apply the taupe shade all over the lid with the 239, and then lightly sweep and diffuse the muted mulberry shade into the crease with the 222.  Diffuse the crease edge with Trench eyeshadow using the 217.  Next, apply Rue Bonaparte eyeliner on the lower water line and Via Appia eyeliner on the lower lash line. Coat lashes with Film Noir mascara to finish the look.

For cheeks, apply Cassandre on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 188.

For lips, apply Pago Pago lipstick for a complementing lip.

Perfect, i think the only thing that can be better in the look is using a darker berry color on the crease, but you look really pretty in that look Christine and I think this look can be an every day look, so gourgeous.

I think this look is beautiful! I was afraid of this duo being too cool-toned for my NC30 skin, but now it just seems perfect! Not the “no makeup” look but still minimal in the best way!

I’ve heard that the Mac pro store in new York is more expensive than regular stores and counters even for non pro items, is that true? And what is better for contouring, Mac shape powder in “sculpt” or Mac pro blush in taupe? Are they similar hues?

Lovely look Christine! Simple yet elegant. You look beautiful 😀 I think I am going to get the Nars duo…I was kind of afraid that it would look like a bruise on my eyes, but I am NC25 with brown eyes, same combo as you…and I think it looks quite lovely on you! now…if I only had the same makeup skills that you have…LOL

Those are definitely very soft and wearable shades. They look great on you, too! I never would have thought to pair my warm taupes with a dusty rose. Perhaps I can copy this look using one of my blushes. Thanks for posting this up. =)

Please do a review on the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation. I see you wearing it quite a bit. Is it meant for oily skin? It looks fab on you! 🙂

LOVE this look Christine!!! I was wanting Grand Palais and Pago Pago before, and now there’s no turning back! Probably one of my favorite looks you’ve ever done. LOVE!!!

This may have to be my first NARS duo…Lovely for every day and also a great option (when blended with and lined with a deep chocolate brown, for example) for a non-traditional smoky eye. That mulberry shade is unlike anything else I have in my collection and is surprisingly flattering!

Yesterday, I wrote a comment to you asking you to still include some of these tutorials. You are so awesome to do one today! 🙂 Anyway, I wrote off that eyeshadow duo as being completely unworkable for me (I am fair with a lot of red in my complexion). Seeing how lovely this looks on you, I think I might go to sephora and swatch it (if they have it). Such a lovely, light look. Everything you used on this look just screams you are so beautiful!

your eyes look AMAZING! Also the over all face is so cohesive – it all flows together so well. I am used to seeing you with more splotches of color and I like this look for you a whole lot with it being more cohesive but not too soft since you have darker tones. GREAT look on you.

Beautiful look! You’ve got so beautiful eyes 🙂

I by the way LOVE this lipstick (at least on you), and are completely torn between this one, Pago Pago, and Montego Bay.

My skin is something around a NW15, with blue eyes and quite dark brown hair. Which one should I go for first? 🙂

Tone Avatar

Nevermind, Montego Bay apparently was the one I craved the most – I clicked “Buy” almost without realizing it…. Can’t wait!

(Just hope it suits my skintone…. Oh well, I can sit and stare at it!)

Hmm I thought the same thing about it being similar to MAC’s Haux. What do you think Christine? Such a gorgeous combo though and I’m sure I’ll pick it up regardless! hehe

christine, i’ve been hemming and hawing because i think grand palais and pago pago are such pretty colors – i’m so getting these because of this look. beautiful colors, and you look totally amazing!

This is my favorite look I’ve ever seen you do! And I’ve seen you do like, hundreds. Dammit NARS, must you be so expensive!!

Leslie Avatar

Such a gorgeous look Christine!!!! Looks beautiful on you. I really want to try this look but Im the type of girl who always wears liquid eyeliner with every look I try. Do you have any tips of how I can try this look out without looking like the walking dead since im not going to be wearing my liquid eyeliner?

Sarah Avatar

I wasn’t at all interested in the Grand Palais duo because of the rosy shade but this makes me want it! I love that it’s a work-friendly look too. As a recent grad who just got hired for my first job, I suppose my default shimmery gold smokey eye that I use for just about everything won’t work lol. Thanks for posting this!

Are you testing the Lingerie de Peau foundation here? How are you liking it so far? I thought Parure Gold was your favorite. Will we expect to see a Lingerie de Peau review sometime soon?

Sonia Avatar

I have ordered this duo because I heard the taupe shade was close to Chanel Rose Platine waterproof eyeliner (which is my fav and I love that color). I can’t wait to receive it ! thanks for the great tutorial, it looks absolutely gorgeous on you !

I liked it before and know I love it!!One of my next purchases, for sure. And thanks a lot for the tutorial Christine – some of us really miss them 😉

so pretty and easy to wear this look is and as always you did full justice to the eyeshadows and lips
everything looking wonderful and your smile is sure shot winner honey 😀 😀

It’s weird but I have just bought this duo and the result is completely different in my eyes! I find it mauve/purplish than reddish! The look I have done is: UDPP as a primer — Paint pot Painterly as a base — The mauve side all over the lid — the pinkish side in the crease — Mac Mistery on the outer corner and lower lash line — Mac Nylon over the browbone — Brown eyeliner pencil on the upper lashes — Black mascara

Another combination more reddish is putting a golden shadow all over the lid and then the pinkish side in the crease and outer corner. Then you get a beautiful autumm look 🙂
