Le Metier de Beaute Fall/Winter 2011 Collection: Silk Road
Le Metier de Beaute Fall/Winter 2011 Collection: Silk Road
For almost 3000 years, a vast network connected Eastern civilization to the outside world. Silk, satin, spices and jewels made the journey, connecting east and west, along what would become known as the “Silk Road.” As the Silk Road evolved, a true cultural exchange took place as ideas and knowledge changed hands. This fusion of culture and trade, of luxury and texture comes together in Le Métier de Beauté’s Fall|Winter 2011 Collection. Introducing Silk Road, a journey of discovery and luxurious sensuality.
Silk Road Kaleidoscope Eye Kit ($95.00)
Le Métier de Beauté’s new Fall|Winter 2011 Kaleidoscope Eye Kit transfixes with rich and opulent hues reminiscent of the luxe fabrics of an ancient world. A selection of four sumptuous shadows come together (from top to bottom):
- Tapestry Shimmering, translucent plum
- Damask Polished brass
- Ikat Silk-matte pinot noir
- Brocade Deep chocolate with sequined copper effervescence
Experience each jewel-toned hue through the previous hue, as all four pigments intertwine to create a prism for the ultimate color contrast with the wearer’s eye shape and color. Using the Le Métier de Beauté signature eye shadow application technique, “Couches de Couleur” (the layering of color), each hue is selected to evoke one element in a sequence of crescendo: 1. Warm 2. Cool 3. Hot 4. Cold. The combination is famed for increasing the femininity of the eyes, while adding a dash of mystery.
Empress Kaleidoscope Lip Kit ($95.00)
Le Métier de Beauté’s new Fall|Winter 2011 Kaleidoscope Lip Kit mixes rich, luxurious hues reflective of the majestically jewels traded along the Silk Road. A selection of four delicate shades come together for a luscious pout. Using Le Métier de Beauté’s exclusive “Couches de Colour” application technique, layer the four shades (from top to bottom):
- Imperial Silk Pale pink for a nude base
- Plum Satin Creamy plum for rich contrast
- Empress Delicate mauve mixed with soft champagne
- Silk Road Shimmering red for sheer highlight
East Meets West Nail Lacquer Collection ($10.00 each)
The winding and impossibly distant channel of the Silk Road extended from as far as China to Indonesia, through Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula and Egypt, until reaching Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean civilizations. Le Métier de Beauté’s East Meets West Nail Collection brings together a wealth of color reminiscent of the jewels, spices and luxurious fabrics that traveled this ancient path.
- Dynasty Deep, shimmering fuchsia
- Anatolia Rich plum illuminated with bronzy, golden shimmer
- Silk Road Metallic, bronzed copper
- Urban Dweller Rich chocolate plum with golden effervescence
Specifically formulated to be 3-Free without formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Proposition 65-compliant and fortified with strengthening proteins and hydrators, Le Métier de Beauté Nail Lacquers are highly pigmented for rich, glossy, long-wearing color.

Looks cool! Never heard of this brand before lol
This is a brilliant idea, and the colours are so beautiful! Can these be bought in Europe?
LOVE!
Isn’t this collection gorgeous! I have the Eye Kit and have swatched it and posted an FOTD and it and I’m in love!
I can’t wait to get the nail polishes…although after the Nordstrom Anniversary kit I want them to always come in cute sets of 4 for $25! LOL
i’m so looking forward for this!!!! The Eye kit worth every penny!!!! I already have Crochet and Penelope cant wait to add Silk Road in my small LMdB collection 😀
try as i may, i cannot pronounce this brand’s name to save my life. anyone want to help a girl out?
luh met-ee-ay duh b-you-tay LOL looks so daft written out.
it literally means “To apply beauty”
Corinne, your translation is incorrect. You’ve added a verb where there are only nouns 🙁 Le métier de beauté actually means “the craft of beauty.”
Anya, “Leh may-tee-yay deh bow-tay” will get you close to the sound.
http://translate.google.com/#auto|en|Le%20M%C3%A8tier%20de%20beaut%C3%A8 There is a translation AND the pronunciation.
Eileen is correct in both translation and pronunciation. The “bow” is on a dress not the “bow” wow of a dog.
thank you, everyone! i think i’ve got it now 🙂 sure is a mouthful, haha.
Not really interested in the eye kit, but those lip kit and nail polishes sure look pretty.
gorgeous, but way too expensive for me!
I have been wanting a Kaleidoscope eye kit forever! This one looks like it may be mine!
Hey Christine, I know you probably get the price info fro mthe press release, but is it true that the nail polishes will cost $10 each? I saw that they cost $15 in Nordstrom’s website.
Nevermind. I just saw that the seasonal polishes are $10. Sorry for the confusion.
That is a special anniversary set!
Wonderful colors. I am not familiar with this brand however. There is not a Nemiums for 400 miles from where I live…and the Nordies a bit closer are small ones. Limited lines. Love the polish shades – bottles look a tish small and hard to hold maybe.
Oh. $10 on each polish…I could do a couple of those but the shipping would kill me on such a small purchase.
are you going to review this and post swatches of it? I’m really interested in how these swatch!
Ugh, it looks gorgeous, but it’s so hard to think about all the products I could buy instead of this at these price point… One LMDB eyeshadow quad could equal maybe 5 products from another brand!
I haven’t tried this brand yet but I have only heard raves about the quality so far. I need to check them out.
Must have the eye shadows!!! I Love Inglot and have tons if their stuff, but they do nit have the richness/dimension that LMDB’s eyeshadows have. Ridiculously priced eyeshadow compact- must be mine!
