NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo ($33.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “silver taupe” and “dusty rose.” The left side of the duo is a smoky taupe with a hint of brown, touch of gray, and frosted finish. The right side of the duo is a muted mulberry. It’s deeper than pink–almost like a really dusty rosy red.

The taupe is lovely in color payoff and texture–true-to-pan color with excellent pigmentation, while the texture is buttery and smooth and applies beautifully. Mattes are prone to being difficult, and the mulberry side, while not difficult outright, is a little dry and stiff with a touch of powderiness. It works better applied than it feels when swatched. It’s a touch on the sheerer side, with slight unevenness, but it blends well enough once applied.

MAC Satin Taupe is many shades darker, as is Giorgio Armani #4. Inglot #402 is warmer and browner. theBalm’s Come Hither Heather is the closest I could think of. I could not find anything similar to the mulberry side of the duo, though.

Per NARS, their eyeshadows are supposed to be long-wearing and crease-resistant. In my experience, they still need to be worn over an eyeshadow base for all-day wear, but alone, they wear seven to eight hours with subtle creasing. They don’t fall apart immediately after application, but an eyeshadow base is recommended for best results.

The mauve-y side kind of reminds me of the color of a healing bruise- I’m not sure how flattering that would be on my eyes! But the taupe side is gorgeous.

I wasn’t too thrilled with my 1st impression of this Collection…outside of the new Velvet Lip Pencil in Train Bleu. But these swatches really impress me. Now I want this too!! I do have a hard time with pinks, I always feel like an 80’s mall chick w/ most pink shadows. So maybe this muted rose color would be perfect for me. The icy-mauve is stunning. It looked so plain in the original images NARS put out, but it’s very detailed…I love it!!

Gorgeous, but too expensive! I think the mulberry color maybe makes the duo worth it, because I don’t see many other shadows like it. But the metallic taupe color seems ho-hum and ubiquitous.

I love the taupe but I feel like if you wore the two shades together, it would give your eyes a bruised or sickly appearance. Please do a look with this, Christine!

Oooh…good idea for traveling esp since I might be able to do this on my eye for crease and accent. Using it as a blush too would be a bonus.

I have not bought a Nars eyeshadow in years, but this might just be the one after I see it and play with it at Sephora next time I am in the city where there is one. I really like the look here. I used to wear a cranberry shade of pink that really worked on me with a taupy green. Then I had one called cranberry by Mary Kary that also worked on me. But I like this one because it’s more like the one that I first used being matte. I used that one down to the bottom of the pan! Thanks so much for showing this one. I am excited. Long as it does not turn my eyes to that crying eye look the red hue can give me, I will be set!

just going off your pics, but i feel like the taupe side could be akin to Urban Decay’s Toasted color. Found in the Naked Palette. I believe that’s the one I’m thinking of. I don’t have it right next to me.

If any of you lovely ladies have Josie Maran’s Argan Color Stick or Argan Blush in Rose, Grand Palais’ look can be achieved fairly closely using these products with Bobbi Brown’s Hot Stone Metallic e/s (a silvery taupe). Nars Multiple in Maui should also work well. These rose-hued creamy sticks are great as a base for these shadows as well as for cheeks and lips.

Pairing these shades with a “dewey look” foundation creates a romantic look!

Hello

do you think the taupe side is a good dupe of mushroom from urban decay ( exclusive shadow from the BOS II and alice in wonderland palette ) please?

or the taupe from the grand palais is more reddish , hotter than mushroom ?

Concerning the mulberry side it reminds me too much of dolce vita blush from nars that I already have except this time little bit darker ….

so I don’t know if it’s worth buying it just because of the taupe side , I would only if it’s a really good dupe from mushroom….

could it possible to have a swatch comparison please, I know I’m not alone wondering that…thanks

good day
