Profumum Orangea Perfume Review

Profumum Orangea Perfume Review

Profumum Roma Orangea Eau de Parfum is a highly aromatic, zesty take on citrus with an emphasis on the pith and rind, rather than the juice. There was the unmistakable scent of orange blossoms in the air, but they were one component that was highlighted. Orangea felt like the full picture of fresh citrus, not just their blooms but the rinds and piths and branches the blossoms emerge from. The notes are:

  • top notes: petit-grain
  • heart notes: mint
  • base notes: bergamot, cedar leaves

It opened with zesty, sparkling bitter orange under a trail of the fading orange blossoms, which added such, floral sweetness. The petit-grain added body to the orange, made it more like the entirety of an orchard of citrus trees after most of the blooms have fallen away with the leaves, trunks, and branches. Orangea was incredibly aromatic with aging orange peels, green cedar, and a kiss of mint.

The journey through Orangea changed by millimeters over time with the most notable shift was that it increased its bitterness, and unlike some citrus-driven fragrances on the market, there was little in the way of sweet notes to counteract the bitterness. This made the composition fresh, aromatic, fizzy, and cooling. I felt like the mint brightened, while the dry, woody undertone rounded out the bitterness without adding sweetness. The drydown was soft, bitter orange with a hint of freshness.

Application

For testing, I used 1/3 of a 0.7ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. I used an unscented moisturizer prior to applying the scent as this is also my swatching arm (aka, incredibly parched at any given moment) as I found scent did not hold well here otherwise.

I purchased my sample in January 2022; fragrances are known to be reformulated over their lifetime , so be mindful of when a review was made, e.g. a review from 2010 may not reflect what the same-named perfume smells like in 2022.

Longevity

It lasted for five hours until it was a skin-scent and about 10 hours before it was quite difficult to detect on my skin. The sillage and projection were moderate with the sillage dropping faster than the projection within the first hour of wear.

Personal Thoughts

I liked how bright and zesty this one while still smelling of orange and citrus, slightly of orange blossom but not as full in its floral capacity as some neroli/orange blossom scents can be.

Available Sizes

Sounds lovely. I always associate citrus with summer and since I am longing for summer to finally arrive here in Montana, this might be something to make me feel like spring is actually coming. I am making a list of the perfumes that sound interesting to me and checking them out in Seattle when I go there in about 3 weeks.
