Phytosurgence Chilled Cherry & Pewtered Pine Cream Shadows Reviews & Swatches
Chilled Cherry
Phytosurgence Chilled Cherry Flash Florescence Cream Shadow ($17.07 for 0.14 oz.) is a deeper, plummy-taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones and a pearlized sheen. It wore well for nine hours on me before showing signs of fading. The coverage was more opaque in a single layer when applied with a fingertip, while a brush was sheerer. I had no trouble applying it with a brush or a fingertip, though.
The texture had a slightly firmer, drier feel initially, but it softened over time (seemed to be just the top layer, really). I would recommend working quickly as once they set, they were very transfer-resistant and lasted for over 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Formula Overview
$17.07/0.14 oz. - $121.93 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to dry down to a "budgetproof finish" that can be applied with "fingers or a brush" that can be used as an "accent colour" or "one and done" whether that's at full coverage or diffused for a "wash of colour."
They are pigmented in a single layer using a fingertip, but they can be built up with a fluffy brush or sheered out with fingertips or a fluffy brush for a sheerer wash of product if desired. The texture was a drier cream initially--very thin, lightweight, and had some emollience but didn't feel wet to the touch. It had about 15 to 30 seconds of working time and then dried down to a powder-like finish that was transfer-resistant.
I found the formula easy to work with as the colors went on evenly, blended out nicely along the edges, and didn't settle into fine lines/creases as they dried down. They wore eight to nine hours on me before creasing faintly.

Pewtered Pine
Phytosurgence Pewtered Pine Flash Florescence Cream Shadow ($17.07 for 0.14 oz.) is a darker, purplish-taupe with strong, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation when applied with a fingertip, and the texture was a little stiffer to work with initially but became more malleable against the warmth of my lid.
I liked using a brush to pick up product and deposit first for a more opaque layer of product, but a fingertip was best for blending. I definitely felt like this applied and looked better in practice (on my eye) than when I initially swatched it as it went on evenly without issue on my lid. It stayed on well for 10 hours before fading visibly.

THEE two shades out of this new release that I’ve been most interested in got reviewed together! What are the odds, right? Perfect for an all over the inner lid blended over to the end of the mid-lid with just a little bit of a deeper matte on the outer v for definition for a very easy, not to mention, super quick eye look!
I love a taupe shadow and Chilled Cherry is truly lovely. I’ve had problems with cream and stick shadows pulling. I’ll give this some though just because it’s gorgeous 🤍
These are quite unusual taupe shades, with the addition of hints of the colours plum or purple. The cream shadow itself looks quite firm in the pot and it seems quite easy to apply. I think they are lovely shades to suit a wide range of undertones, both warm and cool.
Pewtered Pine is a lovely shade although I don’t get the name. I haven’t tried anything from the brand and will have to check them out. I have spent more on makeup this past couple of weeks, than I have in the past year altogether. It feels good to want to play with makeup again but since I have had to augment my daughter’s income the past two months, I am not sure I should be entertaining spending anymore. Hopefully they will stick around for awhile and I can pick it up.
I have been wanting to try this brand for a while now. I’m glad to see this review as it reminded me of that. I’ll definitely pick up pewtered pine and maybe a few others. I’m thinking I may be able to use these as an overall base shade to build powders on top of. I always use the smashbox primer, but as I get older I find I need a second primer type product on top in order to really keep powdered shadow from creasing. I have been using the Mac pots, which I enjoy, but these Phytosurgence ones seem like they will be fun to play with.
These both look really nice, though I don’t see anything “pine” in Pewtered Pine.
Maybe they’ll do a green version called pewtered rose. These are the best colors!
Chilled Cherry has become my favorite eyeshadow to the extent that I simply can’t bring myself to wear anything else. I’m now eyeing the rest of this collection.
I have the Oxidized Olive shade of this shadow and it’s lovely. I’m olive and my skin eats green so it really reads as a dark taupe shimmer on me, but still great. I’ve been pairing it with my paler one and done shadows, and it’s so easy to throw on in the morning. I’m not usually a pink or red shadow person, but I am seriously considering the chilled cherry – it’s giving me a MAC satin taupe vibe.
I have never heard of this company before, but I’m going to buy just about everything in this collection that is even remotely in the purple/lavender color family. This is about 80% based on the review/swatches, and 20% based on the brand’s decision to never give a freebie to an influencer. (But they also have a policy to let Celine Dion have whatever she wants. I respect that.)
