Charcoal is a medium-dark gray with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, so the color payoff was noticeably sheerer as a result. When I tested it, the color didn't show signs of fading until after eight hours of wear. bareMinerals Velvet Charcoal (P, $14.00) is lighter. MAC Gravel (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Typographic (P, $15.00) is darker. MAC Soot (P, $15.00) is cooler-toned. bareMinerals Tempest (P) is lighter, less matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
