Saffron is a slightly muted, medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish--I could detect faint shimmer in it but not once it was on my lid/at a normal distance. The texture was drier but blendable, and it wasn't grainy as some red shades can feel. It wore nicely for eight hours on me.
