Pigmented Lipglosses | 2021 Editor's Favorites
Next up, my favorite more pigmented glosses from what I reviewed this past year (just over 70 shades in total for gloss). This is another short ‘n’ sweet list of top picks!
If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2021, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). (You can check out the best of 2020 posts if you missed last year’s.)

Your Year in Review: Lipgloss Edition
I thought it would be interesting to read through how readers used products throughout the year, what favorites emerged, what products fell by the wayside… so, if you want to join in, copy and paste the questions below and add your answers via a comment!
- What was your most used lipgloss? Least used?
- Will you repurchase it or will you look for something new?
- Was lipgloss a big part of your routine in 2021?
Lisa Eldridge is having a good year with a few of her products in the Temptalia’s Editor’s Picks. I do like Cinnibar myself.
CP Fresh Kiss *Glossy Lip Stain* (not the Lacquer, why on EARTH did they call them the same thing?) in Tutti Fruity has become my most-worn lip color lately. Wears well, easy to reapply without ridges of sticky gack, actually does stain. Loooove this formula as an almost-dupe for the old YSL Glossy Stains, super duper hope they release more colors in a wider range of hues — they seem to be stuck in a rut of only soft reds, nudes, pinky-nudes, warm pinks, corals, coral pink, coral nude, pinky tan, warm mauve, slightly warmer mauve…. has CP forgotten entirely that cool-toned colors exist in the world as an actual thing? Can someone stop by their HQ for a wellness check and maybe drop off a color chart reminding them of the existence of plum and puce and deep dusky lilac and orchid and fig and prune?
Most used – Milani plumping gloss
Repurchase? yeah, i mean, I’ve purchased five or six over the last few years and have two left. To be fair, it has half the amount of other glosses like the Fenty or Maybelline Lifter, but the same price tag so…..yeah, I’m not going to bother with it any more. It’s a fine gloss. But the Maybelline has quietly stolen my heart, has double the amount, and is the same price last I knew with more frequent sales.
Big Part of Routine? Yep. If I’m at home I’m wearing lots of balm or gloss. My lips will crack if I leave them bare long enough and sometimes a good gloss clings a lot better than a mediocre balm.
