Pat McGrath Sublime Seduction MTHRSHP Palette Review & Swatches
Sublime Seduction
Pat McGrath Sublime Seduction MTHRSHP Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a new, limited edition six-pan palette that included three matte eyeshadows and three shimmer eyeshadows assorted into a warm-toned, neutral color story. I think if you have most of the brand’s past palettes, you likely have these shades in similar forms across palettes. It performed beautifully and was consistent with the brand’s quality, and it would have made more sense to release something like this (to me!) if it was permanent since it is a “core” kind of color story.
Worth noting, just by touch, initially, there felt like there was a slight firmness to the mattes that gave away immediately, so not at all a real issue, but it was not something I’ve normally experienced with the brand’s eyeshadows in the past.

Pat McGrath's eyeshadows are, generally, supposed to be "super-saturated" with "creamy, soft textures" and "extreme blendability and adherence without creasing." A lot of how well they perform (and to some degree, how they are supposed to be applied and marketed) depends on the type of shades, but by and large, the eyeshadows perform very much as they are described.
The brand released single eyeshadows in March 2019, and the shades have been consistent in quality, look, and feel. They are not removable, unfortunately, so one would have to depot like any other single eyeshadow--I tried using tweezers and lifting on several shades to no avail. The lids are held closed by a weak magnet, so I'm not sure they're as secure as most single eyeshadow compacts in my stash--I wish it really locked in, but there's definitely a magnet that pulls the lid down if it's within 2mm of the base.
The mattes are velvety, blendable, and dense without being thick or too heavy, and they have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation where a little can go a long way with some of the deeper and richer hues. The satin and pearl finishes are smooth, lightly creamy, and firmer but not dense or thick with good pigmentation, blendability, and easy application. The more metallic finishes tend to be softer, creamy, and smooth with a bit more denseness and no powderiness. The sparkly/glittery shades are often designed to be applied wet for richer coverage or intensity, which has largely been my experience. Most of the shades last between eight and nine hours.

It’s really strange to me, that while this is obviously a great palette, she is literally doing the same thing over and over and over. I can’t understand what’s going on with this brand.
At least Pat has moved away from her pink phase – remember all of those pink themed palettes she was obsessed with?
So very TRUE, Genevieve! Only thing is, she had a 6-pan several years ago that looked a whole lot like this one.
My thoughts to a “t”….I said as much the other day when Christine showed the 3 (or 4?) new palettes PMG is releasing. Nothing new or exciting and it’s sort of like “if you have 2 or 3 palettes, you’ve got them all….” (fwiw, I only have one of her smaller palettes and even so, I find this repetitive).
It’s a lovely palette – maybe a little too warm toned for some – with the orangey mattes, but excellent quality in a less expensive option. My favourite shades were Bronze Fantasy and Honey Lustre – two beautiful shades that I can never get enough of.
When I first saw the collection, I was excited, but as I saw it closer, I skipped it launch all together. Because as you mentioned, I have these shades. I know it must be hard to have to be creative on a schedule, and I’m not asking brands to reinvent the wheel, but if I’m going to spend that much money, I need something more. This brand always lures me back in with the packaging, but repeat shades in smaller pan sizes just aren’t doing it for me anymore.
I’m hoping some who are newer to makeup will find this as it would be a good starting palette for someone wanting a neutral warmer palette.
For me it’s way too warm.
Even if I don’t have these same shades in my PMG Labs palettes, I’m fairly sure they exist somewhere in my ridiculous amount of eyeshadows! For some reason, I’m thinking Viseart Minx and UD Born To Run palettes? 🤔
