OCC Mosh & Stud Lip Tar/RTW Reviews, Photos, Swatches
OCC Mosh Lip Tar/RTW
OCC Mosh Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “brick burgundy metallic.” It’s a deep, reddish burgundy with fine copper/gold shimmer and a natural sheen. It was richly pigmented with a light-medium weight consistency that had some slip, which I found caused feathering after four hours of wear (though the color itself was still going strong after six hours). I was impressed at how even it applied, as darker shades (especially when liquid or slippery) tend to apply poorly. It was neither drying nor hydrating. Makeup Geek Acoustic (P, $15.00) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Chocolate Cherries (P, $21.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Makeup Geek Mixtape (P, $15.00) is cooler (85% similar). MAC Tribalist (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Black Metal Dahlia (DC, $18.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). Bite Beauty Truffle (DC, $24.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
OCC Stud Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “greyed aubergine matte.” It’s a dark, muted purple with a cream finish. It had opaque color coverage with a light-medium-weight consistency–it was one of the thicker shades on the collection–that applied smoothly and evenly. The color was still going strong after six hours of wear, and the formula was a little drying after seven hours of wear. Too Faced Melted Villain (P, $21.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop Guess (DC, $6.50) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Illamasqua Kontrol (P, $24.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Kohlrabi (DC, $24.00) is brighter (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pagan (DC, $18.00) is more shimmery, darker, less glossy (85% similar). MAC Gunner (LE, $19.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). ColourPop Feminist (LE, $7.00) is darker, less glossy (85% similar). Bite Beauty Black Truffle (DC, $26.00) is darker, brighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA SUMMARY | OCC Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a long-wearing, pigmented liquid lipstick. The formula is light-to-medium in weight with some shades with a thinner or thicker consistency. As you might expect, the thinner ones tend to have sheerer coverage, though the average Lip Tar is semi-opaque to intensely opaque (like the smallest amount is needed to get opaque coverage). The Metallic shades tend to be thinner and have more slip compared to the cream ones. The formula is sometimes drying, sometimes just not drying. The formula is mint-scented but has no discernible taste. The new Lip Tar/RTW comes with a doe-foot applicator, which makes it easier to apply from the tube than the original Lip Tars.

I’m impressed too by how even these look, nice.
They applied pretty well!
Stud looks so interesting, sort of a darkened eggplant.
It does! Like a grayer eggplant, which probably would not be tasty…
Mosh is really stunning. *_*
It is!
OMG, Both super cool shades! My OCC wish list is getting super long! I feel like something like Stud actually may do better with a liner/brush . Is it possible to get a brush in into the RTW tube Christine?
It would be tough! You would be better off getting product off of the wand 🙂
Oooh Mosh and Stud are so pretty and they rated well! I’ll probably get Stud first to test out the formula.
Good idea to try one for now!
The Mosh lip tar looks gorgeous…
That seems to be the popular pick from these two!
Both are stunning! I’m going to get Mosh, love a burgundy red with gold shimmer 🙂
Yay!
Both are on my wishlist!!! I have a thing for very dark lipstick shades. Especially so when the colors are more wearable for a not so young person! Yes, I do believe that even living here in a vastly more conservative-minded state, I can rock BOTH without incurring too many sideways stares! ?
Rock on! 🙂
LOL I think between Glam-Ma and Temptalia, AZ isn’t going to know what hit it!
Both beauties. I’m not sure I could pull mosh off with it being so warm but god it’s pretty.
I bet you could!
Mosh is like a metallic version of the new Too Faced Melted Chocolate Cherries. Gorgeous! Stud is amazing, too. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a dark purple with so much gray to it. Stunning and unique.
It is a more unique take on purple!
These look gorgeous. I was never into the original lip tars, but maybe I’ll like these.
What didn’t you like about the original ones? The formula itself is very much the same, but the packaging is really the difference.
How does Mosh compare to Black Metal Dahlia? I already have BMD and Mosh is gorgeous but I don’t necessarily need it if it’s too similar.
Hi Marina,
I compared this above already!
Although I would never wear a lip tar (too sticky, dehydrating for my lips), I just LOVE that Mosh colour – so gorgeous on you.
It is a cool shade!
The Mosh Lip Tar is beautiful!!
It is!
These are not colors I would wear, but they are certainly beautiful! I need to get myself at least one Lip Tar, but there are just so many options!
I’m really glad that they put the lip tars in tube form. They were kind of a pain before because touching up meant I had to get the lip brush out and it was inconvenient. I love their formula though because it’s so smooth over the lips. I wonder why sephora stopped carrying them.
Stud is SO gorgeous!
OMG, that dusty greyed purple is really hot. I am adding that to my wishlist. Mosh is a gorgeous color too, looks really lovely on you Christine! I don’t really go for metallic finishes, but this one is tempting.
