NYX Pastel Chic & Baby Doll HD Blushes Reviews, Photos, Swatches
NYX Pastel Chic HD Blush
NYX Pastel Chic HD Blush ($6.50 for 0.16 oz.) is a very pale pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It is almost like a washed-out lavender. There is a strong white base, so on my skin tone, it looks chalky, and obviously I’m unable to show it to its best appearance as a result, even though it had semi-opaque coverage. (It is going to be ideal for someone who is fairer and finds most blushes too dark for their preferences.) The texture is very, very powdery, despite having an incredibly silky consistency to the touch but remains easy to blend out on the skin and looks even applied. On me, it wore for seven hours before fading. Make Up For Ever B200 (P, $23.00) is more shimmery, warmer (95% similar). NARS Cheek Studio I (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Sydney Grace Always and Forever (P, $9.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Guerlain Carousel (LE, $65.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Hourglass Ethereal Glow (P, $40.00) is warmer (85% similar). Makeup Geek First Love (DC, $9.99) is warmer (85% similar). KVD Beauty Gomez (Light) (DC, ) is darker (85% similar). MAC Pink Buttercream (LE, $34.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Dior Lolli'glow (002) (LE, $45.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). MAC Full of Joy (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker, brighter (85% similar). MAC Unconventional (LE, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). KVD Beauty Clyde (Light) (DC, ) is darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
NYX Baby Doll HD Blush ($6.50 for 0.16 oz.) is a pop of light-medium pink with subtle, cool blue undertones and a luminous sheen. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to totally opaque coverage in two layers with a moderate shimmer that was noticeable without emphasizing pores. The blush had a somewhat powdery consistency in the pan, but it applied well and sat nicely on the skin. It started to fade after eight hours of wear. Makeup Geek Head Over Heels (DC, $9.99) is less shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop Boba (DC, $8.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Too Faced Better Together (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). theBalm Down Boy (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Surratt Beauty Barbe a Papa (P, $32.00) is more shimmery, lighter, more muted (90% similar). MAC Well Dressed (P, $24.00) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Sweet Pink (LE, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop Gumdrop Pass (LE, $8.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Dollface (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Dollymix (P, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC I'm a Lover (P, $23.50) is less shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop Olive (LE, $8.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (DC, $26.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Prenup (P, $8.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Maui (P, $38.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). FORMULA SUMMARY | NYX’s newest blush formula is supposed to be a “high definition, lightweight blush that blends evenly” that is “vibrant and silky.” The texture tended to be on the more powdery side, but it sits well and doesn’t look powdery applied. Many shades have a more luminous finish to them where the shimmer is fine enough to create a Baby Doll, rather than a frosted finish (though a couple are quite shimmery). The formula blends fairly easily on the skin and has medium, buildable coverage with some being very pigmented right off the bat. The wear time is between seven and eight hours.

Baby Doll is gorgeous!! I love glowy blushes
Me too!:D
Me three!
I might like Pastel Chic bc I actually found First Love a little warm for me. But I hate accumulating so many dupes I’ll never use that just take up space. I’m trying to condense my stash. Do these look like they’d depot easily?
I’m sure you could depot, but the formula is pretty fragile so you’d have to go slowly!
I wouldn’t risk it, but the packaging is really sleek. I have this formula in Taupe, and I am *constantly* misplacing it, as it is sooo teeny compared to my other cheek products!
Good to know, actually. I never liked their older packaging, the thick square ones. Is it too fragile to travel with?
I honestly think these would be really tricky to depot. I don’t own these ones specifically, but the others of this formula I have tried are thin and powdery. The texture seems very fragile, so I bet it would break easy when depotting. Maybe if you are ok with repressing after the depot? Good luck!
Thank you for the advice, sounds like it’s best not to try. Do you have experience traveling with the formula? I wonder if it would break easily in a makeup bag.
Nope, haven’t traveled with it! I did remember a reader who said hers broke in her SHOPPING BAG going home.
I really appreciate that you take the time to review shades that aren’t to your taste or aren’t the most flattering on you, Christine! I’m pretty fair, but I think I might even be too dark/warm for Pastel Chic. Really happy to see this review because I tend to grab any NYX product that I don’t already have as soon as it pops up at my local shops – good to know I can pass on this one!
Happy to help as always, Katie! 😀
I definitely need Baby Doll! Between the gorgeous color/finish & shade name (a reference to both Marc Almond/Soft Cell & Tennessee Williams), it must be mine!
The finish is sooo nice!
I wonder how Pastel Chic would look lightly dusted as a setting powder?
That’s an interesting idea!
Oooh! I really like Baby Doll! Very pretty and such a steal!
It really is a beaute!
Wow, Pastel Chick is really bad. The shade is so light…I’m Casper, and I’d probably use it as a cheek highlight or over a darker blush. I’m kind of loving Baby Doll though. The color with that finish is so pretty.
I’d love to see it on someone fairer to get a better idea of how it works!
It actually doesn’t look that light to me. I thought First Love looked super light in everyone’s swatches and then when I got it I was like… Oh it’s just a regular pink. Albeit I am super fair, and I think the oils on my face tend to darken most blushes. Pastel Chic is just a bit lighter/cooler. I’m going to try it out, but I will NOT depot it lol!
Babydoll does remind me quite a bit of CP Boba! Not sure whether I am indeed seeing a little golden shimmer or if it’s just wishful thinking on my part?
Pastel is just stark and way too white-based for probably anyone darker than say, NC-NW 5-10! YIKES
Veryyyy faint golden shimmers (they don’t really translate as “gold” on to me, but they are there!).
I don’t think Colour Pop will ever re-stock Boba, and if they do, it will be gone in a nano-second. But NYX Baby Doll is actually listed as a 90% dupe for Boba, except Tempatalia says Boba is darker and more shimmery.. But if I put NXY Baby doll over CP Monster ( light pink pearl with opal sheen), it will add more pink and more shimmer, so I wonder if I can get close to it…
From comparing the two, the only thing slightly different from what I can see is that Boba had more gold shimmer to it. Almost a duochrome? So I will def get Baby Doll, but I’ll maybe pre-highlight my cheeks with either Elf Gotta Glow or CP Lunch Money, so there can be a little more gold.
Oooh, I like that idea! I have CP Lunch Money already (love) , and Baby Doll is only $ 6.50. Even if our experiments aren’t exact dupes for Boba, I bet the end results will still be very pretty 🙂
I think it will, too! Let the experiments begin! Although, I’m still a little peeved at CP for not restocking Boba, now there’s alt’s!
That’s a great idea!
Oh Pastel Chic looks like the perfect color! I just wish it wasn’t matte. Why do people make all the pale shades matte? DX I want to look glowing, not a powdery vampire!
Awww!
You might like Full of Joy by MAC. It’s a pale lavender with a quite noticeable white pearl.
Baby Doll is a better colour – and these colours are way too pink for you. The Pastel Chic colour does look very powdery – hence the rating. I’m in two minds about these.
Baby Doll is good shade!
Baby Doll is lovely. And yeah, the super pale one would work well on a super pale skintone. For you, it might be one to keep on hand if you ever need to fake illness! Lol. It just drains your own natural colour.
lol!
Baby Doll looks really good!
