NYX Crystal Glare Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter Review, Photos, Swatches
Crystal Glare
NYX Crystal Glare Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter ($6.99 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a light, golden beige with warm undertones and fine, pearly sheen. The shimmer read as a luminous glow than overt shimmer on the skin, even when layered. It had semi-sheer to opaque, buildable coverage (two to three layers for more opaque coverage, though!). The consistency was thin, water-like but dried down after I blended it onto the skin. This shade would be ideal for someone who wants subtle warmth and sheen without a metallic finish. While it could absolutely be mixed in with base products, like a primer or foundation, the wand makes it most practical for dabbing onto the face. The highlighter wore nicely for seven and a half hours on me.
The Away We Glow formula is a liquid highlighter that has buildable coverage “from soft to intense.” The brand recommends to “dab and blend” on skin for “irresistible illumination.” There are nine shades available, and the shimmer varied from shade to shade: fine pearl to chunkier sparkle. The formula has a watery, thin feel from the tube, and I liked getting a bit on the back of my hand and then dabbing with fingertips or a stippling brush onto the cheeks and high planes of the face for highlighting. It did dry down after a minute or so, and the wear ranged from seven to eight hours.

Wow, I am so impressed by NYX! This shade will suit me too. 🙂 Will you review any of the other shades?
Glad this shade will work for you! 🙂
Nyx has been rocking it lately! I love the way it looks on you and in your swatches. I also like the fact that you say it’s buildable. It reminds me of the Chosungah 22 highlighters that I love (and are much more pricey!) Will be checking these out. Thanks for your review.
No problem! I like that they’re buildable, too, and actually say that, haha!
Well, NYX nailed this shade! It’s a close dupe for some of the most popular highlighters out there, including products that cost 2-6x more. A budget alternative to the Becca Spotlights
It’s a great alternative to a lot of liquid highlighters, which are often quite pricey!
Looks really pretty.
It does!
This consistency looks so unique. I have a liquid highlighter from O Boticário (which is a brazilian brand) that comes in a very similar package, but the consistency is thicker and when I blend it, it loses some of the color and brightness.
Yeah, liquid formats often do that since they disperse quite readily!
Still on the hunt for my perfect highlighter!
Really excited to see the other shades. I really liked the formula of the 3 in store and Crystal Glare wasn’ one of them. 😉
Fingers crossed the ones you liked turn out well!
The way you describe sounds like it would be perfect for me!
Awesome!
Pretty similar type of effect as TF Scintillate, but way cheaper and it DRYS down, so it won’t melt off so fast in the heat! Nice!
And sparklier!
I bought this a couple of weeks ago to wear under my Becca Opal pressed highlight. It’s literally the best! I have very oily skin and it gives me a glow but I won’t have that wet/oily look. Best part? The fact that it lasts all day and that price tag!
I love that they actually wear well!
Interesting! Glad it performed well!
Me too! 🙂
I like the shade and tone of this, but I hate liquid blushes/highlights/bronzers, to be honest!! they always mess up my foundation!
I’d only reach for a liquid cheek product if I was using liquid foundation, and then I’d pat it on (less rubbing, more patting) while the liquid foundation was still drying. I find that is the easiest way to use them 🙂
Oh! I never thought to blend while it’s still drying, thank you for the tip Christine!
I got two of these (suppose to be on a no-buy) because I was curious and the cost is just right for trying out a new product. I really loooooove them. I pretty much use them every day.
I want them all. But, I must resist and stay content with the two I have.
Nice! How are you using them?
Swipe it across the top of the cheeks, then I blend with a beauty blender. Looks like I just have that natural glow.
Awww I thought this was a lip topper : )
Aww!
Very nice!
It was!
Do you find this formula to be similar to the Becca shimmering skin perfector liquids?
Not really, as these use larger shimmer and are much more pigmented.
It looks so glossy! Almost a wet finish. I wonder how it would perform in the lids for a glossy eye look!
So funny! A $6.99 product with better quality than a product that cost $80 a.k.a Tom Fo.rd Beauty Scintillate Shade & Illuminate Cheeks. Girls! open your eyes and follow Temptalia:)
This surprisingly looks good on dark skin. I thought it would be to light, but it’s actually quite nice.
So happy to hear that 😀
