Natasha Denona Palette 13 Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Palette 13
Natasha Denona Palette 13 Eyeshadow Palette 5 ($48.00 for 0.4 oz.) is a cohesive set of shades featuring three mattes and two shimmers. It’s a more standalone palette as there was a good mix of depth and finish, though as a smaller palette, it will be most versatile as a complementary palette. The performance was somewhat better than the older versions I have, but they weren’t quite as improved as I have seen some of the shades come over time.
I don’t know if this is the most current formulation available, but it is one of the newer ones (somewhere between all the iterations), as the back of the palette has a 12M timer on it (compared to 24M on the newest formulas I’ve seen) and still contains more emollient ingredients but seems to have shifted it downward on the list. I find the wear to be better, and at a texture-level, the shimmers definitely felt less cream-like compared to the original (not in a bad way).

Pinija (85P)
Pinija (85P) is a muted, medium-dark reddish-brown base with cooler, blue-to-green shifting shimmer that had a more pearl-like finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, slightly thinner, firmer consistency that needed a moderate hand to pick up product from (or else use a dampened brush or fingertip). The color lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly on me.
The newer version was slightly thinner and less dense, which gave it a slightly drier feel overall, but the color was very comparable while the finish didn’t appear as metallic when applied.

Formula Overview
$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce
The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Sand Storm (90V)
Sand Storm (90V) is a medium orange with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation in a single layer, while the consistency was soft, blendable, and a little powdery in the pan (but applied well without sheering out too readily). It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit on me.
The newer version is a few shades lighter with a strong, more noticeable orange tone to it, while the consistency was less powdery and had better adhesion.

Arizona (88V)
Arizona (88V) is a medium-dark brown with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had a soft, silky texture that was somewhat powdery, so I’d recommend using a lighter hand and tapping off excess to avoid fallout. While powdery, it did apply evenly and didn’t sheer out much when blended out, so it retained mostly opaque coverage in a single layer (and was buildable). It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.
The newer formula has a redder tone to it, giving it more richness, while the texture was more substantial and less prone to sheering out.

Flamingo (57V)
Flamingo (57V) is a soft peach with moderate, warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a soft, lightly powdery texture that sheered out slightly during application but didn’t give me trouble with fallout. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly on me.
The newer version was less powdery, more finely-milled, and was peachier, slightly warmer in color.

Umber (78M)
Umber (78M) is a medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was dense without being too thick or too thin, so it applied evenly and “melted” a bit when blended out. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.
The color was comparable between the two versions I have, while the consistency was slightly less emollient but still lightly creamy, dense without being heavy.

for some reason none of these palettes’ color stories strike my fancy. Some innate design preferences in me weirdly rebel at the combinations — if that makes sense. They seem like nice shadows though and you made quite a nice look!
So far, the only other truly cohesive one besides #02! I really love the very desert inspired shades within it, too. I know it’ll do something for my eye color, for sure.
I think this is the one that is least suited for me – too many matte pinky red/orange shades.
It seems 8 hours in about as long as a person can expect eyeshadows to last for….?
I get wear between 6-12 hours with eight hours being normal – and that’s the point where it starts to noticeably degrade, e.g. fading, creasing, etc. It’s not 100% gone by eight hours. This is also wear without a primer, base, etc.
Probably my least favorite. I do love Pinija. It looks like a less duochrome MAC Blue Brown pigment, Lounge etc. I haven’t used any of those shades in a hot minute so going to go dig them out and use them this week.
The PINIJA color above is beautiful, b ut the rest don’t appeal to me. The only set that I’d buy now is n° 5 (with the blues) as I have n°12 and truly you can make some great looks with it.
