NARS Wanted Vol. II NARSissist Cheek Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Wanted Vol II
NARS Wanted Vol II Wanted Cheek Palette ($59.00 for 0.78 oz.) is a new, limited edition cheek palette that includes six shades from shimmery peach to tangerine to rich plum. There were three matte shades and three shimmery shades. I think that as a composition, this particular palette has a lot of variety in depth and finish but definitely contains bolder shades overall so it is best suited for someone who has a light hand (but wants depth) or needs richer, deeper hues for their skin tone.

PYT
PYT is a medium, dirty peach with warm, brown undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a smooth, slightly firmer consistency that was a touch dry. It applied better than I expected (based on the texture), and it blended out easily. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably on me.

From NARS’ website, their blush formula is described as “beautifully pigmented” and “soft [and] blendable.” NARS' blushes, since they've been released in such a massive range of shades over the years, can vary from shade to shade to some degree. Most shades are pigmented with firmer, slightly stiffer consistencies that can also run on the thinner side, which allows greater control when picking up product but some of the more matte shades could be a bit more blendable or easier to work with.
Some of the more newly-released shades have softer, more yielding textures that are a bit creamier and are easier to blend out, though most of NARS' blushes are fairly blendable. The wear typically ranges from eight to nine hours with a few shades falling above or below this range.

Ambition
Ambition is a bright, medium orange with warm undertones and a soft, golden pearl. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery texture that was easy to blend out on the skin. The more I buffed the powder onto my skin, the glowier it appeared. The blush lasted for eight and a half hours on me.

Taos
Taos is a rich, coppery plum with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The blush was intensely pigmented, while the texture was soft, smooth, and just a touch powdery in the pan, but it blended out seamlessly on my skin with little effort. This shade stayed on well for just over eight and a half hours.

Exposed
Exposed is a muted, meidum pink with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that was buildable to full opacity with half of a layer on top. The texture was a little drier to the touch and on the powdery side, but it was fairly blendable on my cheeks. I would recommend applying it over lightly powdered skin, though, to mitigate any potential to darken and improve blendability. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Penthouse
Penthouse is a rich, medium-dark plum with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. There was a touch of dustiness to the texture, but it was surprisingly blendable for such a deep, pigmented shade. I used a fan brush to apply it to my cheeks, and the color diffused beautifully while maintaining the overall hue and intensity that I saw in the pan. It lasted well for nine hours on me before fading slightly.

Queen
Queen is a medium red with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which was easily built to full coverage if desired. The texture was thinner but didn’t seem to darken or become difficult to blend, which are often issues I have with thinner, matte blushes. It blended out fairly easily, though it took a bit of effort compared to the other shades in the palette (but by no means difficult). It wore well for nine hours on me.

See, this sums up exactly my problem with cheek palettes (a question posted last week) – peach, tangerine and copper are shades that do not work for me as blushes so even if I were willing to schlep around a large blush palette, I wouldn’t be willing to fork out money for one where 3 of the 6 blushes were shades that I wouldn’t wear. And I imagine I’m not alone in this – there are probably quite a few who can’t wear those colours or who don’t look great in the pink and cool red tones.
So excited by this…..the most in many months. Not only is it almost barely duped in stash (and we’ll see about Taos..the same, or not?) but it majorly dupes some shades I missed (little lusty, new Lowe’s, etc). The best part of all is that Ulta sent a replacement 3x for platinum. Very kind and most welcome, on the last day. Sometimes Ulta CS rules! And they really cranked shipping, immediately, as they will be swamped with 21 days. Stash on fire? Save this and Unfiltered one! Polish up those fan brushes, baby. Psych!
Am i allowed to say PSYCH! again?
I laughed a little too hard at this!!
Nice bold colors. Good makeup for Chinese opera actors.
This is really lovely. I have Unfiltered II and I love it and I think this one might be coming home with me too 🙂
This palette looks like a must-have for me. I would love to combine penthouse, queen and exposed in one look.
Nars did a wonderful job with this palette! It would be very tempting for me to go grab this up if not for the fact that I have dupes for at least 3 shades, plus others that are close enough, I think. For instance, Fenty Chili Mango may not be a dupe per se, but close enough that I don’t think I need Ambition.
Too dark/bright for me, but I think it’s a stunning palette.
I’m loving the look of this blush palette. I want both of the new NARS blush palettes! lol Would this one be workable for pale skin? All shades look fab on you Christine. I’m NW13/15 in MAC. Thank you 🙂
If you like pigmented blush / heavier blush color or tend to have a light hand, sure! I think the shades could work, but they are going to be more intense overall so if you’re heavy handed, it might feel like work!
I love the variety of shades in this palette and I’m glad to see it got such a great review!
Pretty colors but too bright for my taste. I’m wanting the lighter version.
Again, my love for these colors is accurately reflected in the number of dupes I own!
This I want. The colors look like they will show up on brown skin beautifully.
being able to use and love every shade in a palette is huge. I love everything about this palette. I’m impatiently waiting on the mail to bring me this Narrs cheek palette.
OAN I actually think both the wanted check palettes can be used on deeper skin tones. They both have great pigmentation.
I got both the wanted palettes and absolutely adore them! This darker one requires a light touch and careful application on lighter skin tones, but works well. I don’t have very many blushes and think this is good for anyone interested in adding a bunch at once.
Even though browner shades don’t usually work for me I’m still tempted. I’d have to swatch each on my face. My cheeks are already stinging in anticipation lol!
