NARS Taos Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS Taos Blush
NARS Taos Blush ($29.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “desert rose with shimmer.” It’s a warm-toned, burnt rose with a subtle golden shimmer/sheen. Illamasqua Allure is more muted, not quite as red. MAC Hidden Treasure is darker. Tom Ford Savage is lighter, less red/more brown. MAC Fleet Fast is lighter, less reddened.
Taos is incredibly pigmented–a little goes a long way–so a light hand and a feathery brush are must-haves if you want a subtle look. It has a soft, silky-smooth, and very finely-milled texture that sits well on the skin and blends out as desired. The delicate gold shimmer, once blended, looked like a satiny, golden sheen that didn’t emphasize pores. It lasted nine hours well, and I didn’t notice any fading until ten hours, so Taos is one of the longest-wearing blushes I’ve tried from NARS.

I’m biracial (black and white) and this is my everyday blush! it definitely is for darker complexions, and it doesn’t look this strong on me
I always eye this blush, but I feel like I have some that are a touch similar (i.e. MAC Fleet Fast). I still like it, though.
Have it, love it! I also use it on my eyes 🙂
Thank you for reviewing this! I JUST bought this last weekend and was hoping to see your opinion on it some day. I’m glad you like it! 🙂
I L-O-V-E this blush! It’s the first blush I ever bought and definitely worth the money. It’s very pigmented, long lasting, and really warms up my face. Essence did a feature on this blush and how it looks on various skin tones: http://photos.essence.com/galleries/universal-beauty-nars-taos-blush/#95736_95728
Wow! Thank you for sharing that link! I’ve always been on the fence about Taos (I have Taj Mahal and Exhibit A), but this may push me over the edge. I wonder if they’ve done this for other shades. I’d be very interested in seeing those!
You’re welcome 🙂
I’ve always wondered if I could pull this one off. I absolutely love it! It just might be a too pigmented, but I love it regardless!
Gorgeous! Such a rich, vibrant color. Definitely gonna recommend to some friends.
I like this bright colour looks good on you 🙂
I like the color, but I honestly prefer blushes that are a bit easier to work with (doesn’t require a special brush and a super light hand). IMO extreme pigmentation isn’t always a good thing. I’m sure it’s great for darker skin tones, though. Personally I prefer to just use a regular blush brush and pile the blush on, lol.
Hey Christine! Any drugstore dupes for this, besides the ones you named (which are unfortunately too pricey for me) ?
All the dupes I could think of are listed – I don’t consider price point or anything when I list similar shades. I pull everything I know!
I have this and love it. It’s great on deeper skin tones.
Have you considered maybe including photos featuring heavy (like you have now) and more practical applications? I don’t mean it in a critical way. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t leave your home with blush applied that heavy.
This is literally my go-to blush. I’m an NW43 and this blush is the perfect shimmering rosy red on my skin! It’s beautiful!
This is gorgeous! It is such a bold color but how perfect it would be for summer. I’m definitely swatching this next time I’m at Sephora :]
It’s a gorgeous colour, it gives a nice coral wash. 🙂
Any chance you’d be able to tell me how this compares to Mac’s Peachykeen please?
Peachykeen is way lighter – I don’t think they’re similar at all!
I love it Christine, it looks beautiful on you. I haven’t pay attention to it before, but tomorrow I need to go to sephora, and I am going to check it up.
YAY for Temptalia working again! 3 pages of stuff to read up on!
This blush would not work for me. I am already quite red in my cheeks. But it does look good. Just hauled stuff from Nars today so not getting anything more for a while now.
I’m glad it is working again for you Anna!
I’d say Deep Throat for fair/light skin, Orgasm for medium and Taos for deep/dark
I’m right in between NARS Siberia & Deauville, paler than MAC NC15, and Orgasm just doesn’t show up; unless you’re super pale, I wouldn’t pick it up.
That’s strange, as I’m NC35/NW30 and Orgasm shows up very well on me. I wonder why it doesn’t work on you?
Maybe you got a defective product? I know my Benefit Hervana didn’t show up at all, I used my sisters one and it was beautiful, so I had gotten a defective product. 🙁
It could be my specific tone; while I’m very neutral, I do have some slight pinkness in my cheeks, so perhaps it’s just blending in. It swatches very well on my arm, and even after trying several different brushes, I can’t get it to work on my face. I have a duo (with Laguna, which is great), and Orgasm has a nice sheen that works well over other blushes (I like it over Zen), so I’m planning to keep it.
Yeah! I am NC 20, and orgasm doesn’t show up on me either. That blush may be a little over rated.
I think this was my first NARS blush years ago. I really like it.
this is one of my favorite Nars blushes.
This is one of my go-to blushes for summer; I pretty much wear it every time I go out at night during the warmer months. This is such a gorgeous coral-rose. It’s definitely a great color for darker complexions, but I don’t think lighter complected people should automatically rule it out. I’m barely darker than NC20, but this color is fabulous on me, not too much at all. Christine, I think it might be helpful in blush reviews to note that you generally build the color up for the review photo.
I am far too pale & beige for this one, and I would look like I spent way too much time in the sun. It’s a beautiful shade, on the right skintone.
This color is beautiful! I have Dolce Vita from Nars even though I have light skin and I love it (applied with a very light hand). How the two compare? I was thinking about getting it. Thank you!
Dolca Vita is much pinker/plum!
Gorgeous on you! I couldn’t wear it because I have broken red veins and rosacea but it is a lovely color!
How does Taos compare to MAC mineral blush Gleeful which is very nice on my NC15/20 skin?
Gleeful is more shimmery, seems a little warmer!
Even though it’s intense, I think this would be a gorgeous summer shade. Definitely on my list of Nars blushes to buy!
I have this one and LOVE it! I’m a medium skin tone and this is a great color for the fall on me as my tan is fading. It’s so pretty and long wearing! One of the best ever from NARS!
I love this blush! To apply it, I use the Sephora #55 airbrush and touch it to the surface of the blush once then tap and blend into the skin (repeat on other cheek). I love the warm glow it gives my cheeks, it really compliments my medium olive skin!
I just love the blush colour it’s really adorable.
It’s a gorgeous blush, definitely great for spring/summer!
I don’t think it’d be great on me, because it’s very close in tone to the redness I have in my face that can look kind of blotchy, but I love the color for others
I’ve been searching for my next blush purchase AND THIS IS IT!!!!
OMG this blush is gorgeous!!! I am afraid of it though since I am a lot fairer than you are Christine! It looks amazing on you but perhaps it would work with my complexion will have to swatch it in sephora next time I am in!
