NARS Spring 2013: Seduction

NARS Seduction Blush ($28.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as “sangria.” It’s a deep, red wine with a very faint shimmer-sheen finish. Initially, the color in the pan reminded me a bit of NARS Outlaw, but the two aren’t the same; Outlaw is more berry-hued and has golden shimmer/sheen. NARS Dolce Vita is pinker, not quite as dark. MAC Hidden Treasure is more orange, less wine/berry. MAC Stratus is warmer, a little browner in comparison. NARS G-Spot is lighter, more muted. It’s also similar to NARS Grenadine, which is an eyeshadow, though the eyeshadow is redder.

Seduction is insanely pigmented; use a really, really light hand with this one–even on my medium complexion, the barest pat of the brush yielded plenty of color. It has a soft, finely-milled texture that applies to the cheeks smoothly and blends out easily. There’s no dryness or powderiness, so even if you over-apply the color, it can be blended and diffused without much trouble.  Because of its intense pigmentation, it will be lovely for darker complexions, and some fairer skin tones who want a less fussy/more fool-proof blush may want to opt for something like Dolce Vita, which will end up looking more similar than different when applied lightly.  Seduction does have a lot of red in it, so it may accentuate any natural redness in the cheeks.  When I wore it, the blush managed to stay on for seven hours, and it was slightly faded after eight hours.

Which would wear better on NC30-ish skin: Dolce Vita or Seduction? I’m trying to pick my first NARS blush and it’s come down to this!
THANKS FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW!
Love you for all the work you’ve done for the rest of us out there!

It’s a rasberry blush, quite subltle in fact but I’ll skip because I need the duos, the lipstick and apart from this ( gorgeous ! ) collection the loose reflecting powder. I have Cargo blush in Lyon, very pretty too but not exactly similar in fact.
Looks pretty on you !

Because i’ve been obsessing over the eyeshadow Grenadines (which is unavailable here in Canada), perhaps i could satisfy my want for a reddish eyeshadow with this new blush…
PS: If anyone knows where i could purchase Grenadines in Canada, please let me know. I thought of ordering it from the NARS website but the duty and shipping doubles the price 🙁

You can try ebay; NARS also has free shipping all this week, so it may be worth looking into if that can cut the cost some.

Grenadines really is a unique shade, and although I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 red shadows, it really stands alone. I got mine from Sephora, but it was a while ago, and here in the US. It was also my “gateway” NARS shadow, LOL.

Thank you for suggesting ebay. I’ve always been a little leery about buying MU this way but i may consider it.
I believe that the free shipping perk is only for the U.S but i will take a second look.
I KNOW that this colour is something that i need/want 🙂

I’ve ordered several times from ebay, all with great results. Just be sure to check the seller feedback, and how long & how many transactions they’ve done. HTH

I am VERY excited about this! I think this is going to look amazing on my skintone (I am darker skinned). I’m so pleased, it’s glorious (you always take such great pictures here, thank you).

Given how fair I am this is a miss. However, I’m *loving* the lip pencil. Here’s hoping it’ll get a good review, because I might just have to pick it up.

Thanks for the review Christine. I’m really excited about this one. I’m a NC44 and I’ll confess that I ever so discreetly did the happy dance in my chair when I saw the swatches. lol. Just curious iyo how does this compare to Nars Mounia? Btw Cythere looks so pretty on you. (You may have just encouraged two Nars purchases today)

I’m on the fairer end of the spectrum (currently right in between NARS Siberia & Deauville), but because I’m so neutral, I think this may work for me. I’ve been considering Sin, but this may have to take precedence.

It looks really good but I have a lot of pinkness in my cheeks and not sure if a blush like this would be flattering on me. Also got my eyes set on the Gina blush so one new blush might be enough for the time being.

At first glance, this looked similar to Mounia which is one of my favorite blushes. But not when I saw the swatch on your arm. Seduction looks considerably more brick-brown-red (on my monitor) while Mounia is more raspberry. And, as you noted in the comments below, it’s much brighter than this. I was tempted by Seduction before your review but I think I’ll stick to Mounia. I can’t recommend that enough to anyone who finds it on eBay. Get it! It’s really amazing.

I’m definitely seduced. Haha! Picking this up when it launches in my country. Happy that this got an A, Christine. It’s the only thing I want from the collection. 🙂

Gorgeous! Really my kind of colour and I haven’t seen anything like this in quite a while. I will have to check it out (but I am trying not to buy anything more than “the basics” for a while…oh, Christine, you do make it difficult for a girl to reign herself in!)

I think this one looks great on you! Really happy to see it received such a good grade, too. This was up on NARS last night, and I almost bought it then, but I held back after reading Karen’s (MABB) review commenting on its intense pigmentation. I like bold blushes for sure, but I don’t know about this one on my NC20 self. I wonder when this one will show up at my Sephora for some in person testing. Definitely think this will look gorgeous on the darker and deep skin toned girls and boys; I think those missing Mounia will be happy to see this one even if it is a little different.

the color in the pan is just delicious, I mean seriously, sooooo pretty! …but swatched, it’s a bit deeper than what I’d go for. I feel like brighter blushes suit me better.

Flirt & Tease is lighter and shimmery? I believe! Would be closer to Loverush/Fever. I’m going off of these old swatches since I don’t think I have Flirt ‘n’ Tease! http://www.temptalia.com/mac-cosmetics-paint-pot-swatches-blush-swatches

Hi, could you give me an idvice please? I want to buy my very first blush and i want a nars one but i can’t decide. I am a nw50 at mac and i want a warm look not a goldish. Which one do i shoud buy? Thanks

Myrna Avatar

Is Seduction warm or cool toned? I mean, is it blue or yellow based?
Could you compare it to Chanel Rouge? Which is warmer?
I like it a lot, but my skin is olive toned, and if this is cool toned, I’d better not order it and the problem is that I have to decide based only on swatches and reviews. Your answer therefore would be much appreciated.
