NARS Love Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Love Blush
NARS Love Blush

NARS Love Blush ($29.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “tea rose.” It’s a rosy pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. Tarte Crave (LE) is pinker, brighter. NARS Day Dream (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery, warmer. Too Faced Melt Into Spring (LE) is brighter. theBalm Frat Boy (P, $21.00) is darker. Illamasqua Naked Rose is lighter, less warm-toned. See comparison swatches.

It applied better than it swatched–it ended up being more buildable as I was applying it to cheeks, than it would seem in the pan. It had moderate pigmentation; it’s not intense like Exhibit A, but it wasn’t difficult to get true-to-pan color. The texture is finely-milled, soft but firm–so it’s not powdery like some matte blushes can be. I’ve always found that mattes often are either really soft, but then a little powdery, or soft but firm, where they often apply better than they initially swatch. Against my warmer skin tone, it looked warmer and less pink than it did in the pan, so I would expect on cooler, more pink-toned complexions, the blush would look truer to how it appears in the pan. I wish it was slightly softer and more pigmented. When I wore it yesterday, it lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Sometimes, I think it can be a good thing for a blush not to be too intense and to be “buildable” rather than going on really intense from the start. I’m pale and a blush that is really pigmented can sometimes look really overdone on me so a little bit of having to build up colour (or go light) is often a good option. I love this shade and can’t wait for your review of the next one (I’ve forgotten the name).

This was the pick of the collection for me! If you are pale it is an absolute must have for a natural blush. I found it was very easy to pick up colour with a brush (I use MACs white angle brush – maybe the 168?), and only required a quick dip in the pan.

I really like this one, and it’s the sort of shade I’m regularly drawn to, but the fact it’s a Nordstrom exclusive makes it likely to be a no-go… Perhaps it’ll work its way to the permanent line one day…

Gorgeous color! I just picked up my first NARS blusher (exhibit A) and I’m hooked! Even though it’s not as intense, that could really play in my favor since I’m so pale!
Are you going to be reviewing the new Tarte palette? I can’t remember what it’s called but it looks lovely!

Such a shame that this didn’t perform better as I swear this is one of the best coloured blushes I’ve seen on you, Christine. You look so radiant!

This was my fave of the bunch. I’m going to pass since I have Frat Boy and I like my blush to be a little darker 🙂 Great review Christine.

I am honestly looking something like this for everyday wear 😀
you are looking stunning dear 🙂 so beautiful with overall base makeup and lighter lip color

blush is so subtle and i feel it may not look great on NC 40 skin tone 🙁 but do you recommend anything in same color family which would show up on me ?
i shall take out naked rose today and use to … but that also doesnt look good on me
🙁 🙁

I wound up getting Love and New attitude and then returning them. When i swatched them they were reallly light, then i said ok let me try them first. Love was actually not awful, and it showed up on my light-med skin but i wasn’t wowed by it. and new attitude was SO light you can barely see it. i definitely think these are better suited to those much fairer than me or who like lighter blushes. i especially didn’t like the texture
