NARS Jardin des Plantes Satin Lip Pencil Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS Jardin des Plantes Satin Lip Pencil
NARS Jardin des Plantes Satin Lip Pencil ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as “fuchsia.” It’s a red-toend fuchsia pink with a soft, frosted finish and a satiny sheen. It has cool, blue undertones. Guerlain Girly is a smidgen redder and has no frosted shimmer. OCC Queen is all cream in finish. NARS Carthage is cooler-toned, pinker. Guerlain Champs-Elysees is similar but less shimmer. Estee Lauder Wild Violet is darker. MAC Insanely It has a glossier sheen. NARS Funny Face is very similar–perhaps a little more frost. MAC Full Fuchsia is slightly less red. Beautiful color, undoubtedly, though a shade that many brands have, so you may want to check your stash!
It’s a rich, vibrant color that goes on with full color coverage with little product. The consistency is lightly creamy but not thick that glides on easily without pulling or tugging on the lips. It’s easy to maneuver the color around the edges, too, because it delivers so much color in a single pass. Jardin des Plantes wore for an impressive six hours on me, and it did leave behind a stain for another hour. It was neither hydrating nor moisturizing, though, and that is one aspect of the product that did not deliver.

Absolutely stunning on you! So vibrant and pretty!
Thanks, Becca! 🙂
Isn’t it an idea to put all the swatches of one product (so all de NARS Satin Lip Pencil reviews in this case) in one review?
If there is a color that is especially good or bad, you could mention it in the review.
If I’m scrolling on Temptalia today, I see only reviews of de Satin Lip Pencils… While they could be in one review in stead of 10.
Just a tip! Love the pictures and the reviews, but maybe it’s place-saving on your site.
Greetings from Belgium!
Hi Nele,
I’m actually testing each pencil – so I can’t actually test them all in a couple of hours, so I put them up as I finish testing them. I also prefer to rate products individually, so you know exactly which shades are good/bad and why, rather than giving out an overall grade, which really can get pulled down (or inflated) because of 1-2 good/bad performers. I put up sneak peek swatches so that for those who are just interested in swatches, they can find them there 🙂 I can unfortunately only test 2-3 per day!
I second that I believe you can rate them all, individually, in a single post. Anyway, I wish similar things of one brand could be fitted in a single post. If I’m not interested I can skip one post instead of skipping pages of reviews of products I’m not interested.
Is just and opinion but at the end is Christine who knows what works best for her blog.
Lo lo lo lo love it! 🙂
FYI, this shade is exclusive to NARS boutiques. I saw your swatch and was ready to pull the trigger at Nordstrom, but no such luck. 🙁 Well, next time NARS has free shipping no minimum, it’s mine!
Thank you for the heads up, KR! 🙂
That is a pretty vivid watermelon shade! I didnt believe it 🙁 I gotta buy that one.
Very very pretty!! Not limited edition, so I won’t be rushing, But I’ll keep it in mind for a sure-to-come future treat!
I absolutely love it! In the comment you say there are enough dupes available, but then you don’t describe so many – and all high end anyway! I think I’ll try this one
