NARS Dominique, Silvia, Vivien, Sandra, Ingrid Audacious Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

NARS Audacious Lipstick -- Dominique, Silvia, Vivien, Ingrid
NARS Audacious Lipstick — Dominique, Silvia, Vivien, Ingrid

Here are other five shades that are exclusive to Barneys of NARS Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.), which are also available online at narscosmetics.com. These also launched early, so you can purchase them online now. Of these five, there is one that is much less impressive compared to all the other shades I’ve reviewed up until now, but so far, the formula has been fairly consistent and high quality. The formula has a light creaminess, which allows it to go on smoothly and evenly without tugging on the lips, but it’s not too thick or too thin, so it is forgiving in its application as well. I’ve been getting longer-than-average wear with these, but I wish they were actually hydrating–they’re either neither drying nor hydrating or a bit drying. It seems like if they start wearing beyond six hours, they can feel drying. They’re scent- and taste-free.

Dominique Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “pink lilac.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple with subtle pink tones and a satin finish. It had full color coverage in one pass, and the color applied evenly and smoothly without settling into lip lines. It wore well for four and a half hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Seasoned Plum (LE, $18.00) is darker. MAC Nocturnal Instincts (LE, $16.00) is more matte, lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Silvia Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “radiant orchid.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia magenta with cool undertones and a satin sheen. It had intense color payoff that glided on easily and evenly. The color wore well for six and a half hours and left a stain behind. It was a smidgen on the drying side for me. NARS Angela (P, $32.00) is lighter. NARS Michiyo (P, $32.00) is pinker. NARS Full Frontal (LE, $26.00) is lighter, brighter. Maybelline Brazen Berry (P, $7.49) is similar. MAC Night Blooming (LE, $16.00) is brighter. Buxom Swinger (P, $21.00) is brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Vivien Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “red plum.” It’s a medium-dark, plummy berry with neutral-to-cool undertones and a satin finish. It had fully opaque pigmentation after one layer. It had a slightly less emollient consistency compared to the average shade in this formula, but it was still comfortable to wear during the six hours it lasted. It was neither drying nor hydrating. Marc Jacobs Beauty Cabaret (146) (LE, $30.00) is slightly darker. YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) (P, $34.00) is brighter. Givenchy Violine Precieux (312) (LE, $36.00) is slightly warmer. Illamasqua Shard (P, $24.00) is darker, more matte. NARS Afghan Red (P, $26.00) is slightly cooler-toned. MAC Red Dwarf (LE, $18.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Sandra Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “rosewood.” It’s a medium-dark, red-brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich, full color coverage in one stroke that applied evenly. The texture was slightly drier compared to others, though it wasn’t dry–it didn’t tug or anything like that. It wore well for six hours and left a stain behind, but it was a bit drying towards the end. NARS Jeanne (P, $32.00) is darker. NARS Olivia (P, $32.00) is lighter. Estee Lauder Emotional (140) (P, $30.00) is redder, brighter. MAC Studded Kiss (LE, $16.00) is darker, more matte. Guerlain Gisela (LE, $51.00) is shimmery. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Starling (P, $18.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ingrid Audacious Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “merlot.” It’s a deep, dark burgundy-red with warm undertones and a glossy shine. The formula had a lot more slip with this shade, and it showed in both the color payoff–which was semi-opaque–and the wear, where it feathered slightly outside the natural lip line and lasted five and a half hours. It also pulled a bit into lip lines as it wore away. NARS Bette (P, $32.00)is warmer, lighter. MAC Lingering Kiss (LE, $16.00) is more matte. Maybelline Espresso Exposed (955) (P, $7.49) is lighter. MAC Talk That Talk (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned, more matte. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Anita (P, $18.00) is darker, browner. Urban Decay Shame (P, $22.00) is a bit lighter. MAC Endless Drama (P, $18.00) is similar. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Black Dahlia (P, $18.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Wow, Dominique is so pretty on you but I think it would be way too purple on me!!! Now I’m glad I dropped that one out of my basket.
Your swatches/photos help so much! Thank you!

The lorac new cream lipsticks has the color Free spirit which is also a dupe for Dominique nars. Lorac cream lipstick jetsetter is also close to nars silva. Rhianna mac RIRI boy is also a close purple..ppl forgot about too…as a Dominique dupe.

Yes, definitely! Probably together with a few other colors and a new bottle of Sheer Glow in Siberia. Thank you so much for taking the time to swatch everything. It’s super helpful, as I don’t have access to a store that carries NARS.

At $32 each, I want/need something absolutely unique, which is Dominique, and something that is just the *perfect* shade, which is Ingrid. I don’t have anything like Dominique, and while I have several along the lines of Ingrid, none are quite “right”, but Ingrid is just what I envisioned in my mind when it comes to this type of shade.

Oh I am so loving Dominique!! It’s such a beautiful and unique shade! Of course it’s purple too, I just love purples!!! I also like Vivien, although for the price I don’t think I would wear it often enough.. Thank you for the gorgeous reviews!

I know this is like the tenth time I’ve said it, but still lusting after Dominique. Even more now that I’ve seen it on your lips! I think Dominique is one of shades only available in the NARS boutiques or NARS online (in other words not Sephora/Department Stores etc)?

Rats! I ordered Jeanne for a dark red brown and Sandra looks like it would be a better pick. Is Jeanne cooler than Sandra? I wanted a deeper red brown.

I have a Nars boutique close by, so yesterday, I picked up Vanessa and Charlotte. I’m obsessed with them!!!

I almost picked Janet, but I found it very similar to Funny Face, which I love. Vivien was also on my list but I do have Afghan Red and Marc Jacobs Beauty Cabaret.

I think I’m going to go with Liv next. I wonder if it was named after Liv Ullman or Liv Tyler.

It’s surprising how many shades like Ingrid are problematic – I noticed that several of the permanent dupes also had lower ratings. The opacity wouldn’t be an issue for me, but the feathering makes it a no-go. I expect that issue with redder shades, but I expect to see it backed up by pigment for all the trouble I’m going through making it work. It’s a shame, though, because it is – OF COURSE! – the shade that caught my eye the most. I’d love to have a warm-toned companion to Guerlain Gigolo. I love Vixen and Dominique, too, but I own some of the dupes you have listed. (It also reminds me that I need to pull out MAC’s Red Dwarf more often! Such a pretty shade.)

On a side note, I’m a little surprised that some of them are drying. For $32, that’s a bit of a let down. Everything but the glossiest of lipsticks (read: Guerlain and UD) tend to mattify on my lips after a few hours, but most don’t get particularly drying. I’m still going to give some of these a look, but I’ll have to keep them in mind when I try them.

hey Christine, sorry to ask. Is Domonique exclusive to Barney’s? Are these limited edition? Domonique is out of stock on NARS’ website, will it be restocked? If not, how can I order it from Barney’s if I don’t have one near me?
