NARS Cote Basque Sheer Pop Multiple Review, Photos, Swatches
Cote Basque
NARS Cote Basque Sheer Pop Multiple ($39.00 for 0.50 oz.) is a medium, pink-coral with fine, golden pearl. The consistency was smooth, more emollient than the traditional Multiple formula (which has a more velvety, silicone-like feel to me), so I felt like it yielded a more stained-like look applied to the cheeks.
The new, limited edition formula is supposed to be a “buildable formula that delivers sheer, high-impact color on lips and cheeks,” and it’s also said another way: “pairs vivid color with a weightless touch,” which seems to suggest that the “sheer” quality is more with respect to the feel of the product than the coverage. That being said, the coverage seems designed to be “buildable” but still “vivid.” It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that was also blendable enough that I could sheer out the coverage to semi-sheer, if desired. It applied better over bare skin, but it was workable over liquid/creams, though it looked patchy over powders. It lasted for eight hours as a blush.
On the lips, it was more comfortable to wear than the original Multiple formula (the additional slip helped!), and the less velvety feel made it appear more like a lip stain. The color lasted for three hours and didn’t actually stain, though.

I love the shade of this!!! I’d like to see how it feels myself!
Hope you can test it yourself sometime, Shannon!
I have Desert Rose already, so I think I can get by without this one, but I do l like that gold pearl a lot. It makes for a nice, subtle glow.
The gold pearl works!
Ohhh, love it.
Yay!
This shade just doesn’t float my boat, and I’m not even sure why? Perhaps because of my wearing Nyx Pinched almost every day for around 4 years straight! ?
On the other hand, I love the eye look you put together here! Love yellow, green and teal together this time of year, too.
Aw, thank you as always, Nancy! 🙂
One blush for four years straight?!?!
Hi Christine! How does this sheer pop multiple compare to the previously reviewed nars multiple tints in terms of texture/feel, pigmentation etc and is there a preference one of the other? I can not tell if they are the same exact product just named differently or if there really is a distinct difference in the feel of the products.
I can only get cote basque through a phone order and trying to decide between this or Jo from the previous review. I appreciate any insight on this! TY
So the Multiple Tints are a little more emollient to me – these have a little bit more of a crossover feel of the regular Multiples (more velvety, silicone-y) and the Multiple Tints. The pigmentation sort of varies more from shade to shade, though they’re both sheerer formulas. If you like the idea of more of a cheek stain, translucent but even color, I think the Tints are better at that.
Ever since I saw these up on Nordstrom.com I was interested in them but I held out on purchasing for fear of them being extremely sheer.I think I’m going to get at least one to try out since you said they are buildable and the sheer is in reference to the feel of the product. Will to be reviewing Motu Tane that was my favorite because of the pastel pink color looks perfect for spring?
Yes!
I just love blush colors like this. PS – great eye look!
