NARS Claudette Audacious Sheer Matte Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Anais
NARS Anais Audacious Sheer Matte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a very light, pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture felt smooth, lightly velvety, and was very thin and lightweight on my lips, but it applied atrociously.
The formula caught on any and every imperfection possible–despite exfoliating prior!–and settled into my lip lines from the get-go, which only worsened over time. It had medium coverage, as promised, though it didn’t build up too much beyond that. It lasted for two hours and felt non-drying over time.

Formula Overview
$34.00/0.14 oz. - $242.86 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "medium-sheer coverage" with a "petal-soft powder finish" that "blurs lines and mattifies lips" while having an "easy, gliding application and comfortable wear." The texture was very lightweight, thin, and more like a silicone primer, as it was more velvety and smooth, so it did glide across my lips without tugging, but it did the opposite of blur lines.
Often, these more silicone-based formulas seem particularly prone to settling into my lip lines or otherwise catching on or emphasizing natural lip texture and imperfections--even after I've exfoliated prior. The pigmentation was medium coverage and somewhat buildable, which was as described.
They lasted for two to three hours and felt non-drying over time. They had a sweet, sugary scent (though not quite vanilla) but no discernible taste.

Berenice
NARS Berenice Audacious Sheer Matte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark orange-red with wamr undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer to medium, buildable pigmentation, which was as marketed, that applied fairly evenly, though the formula itself was prone to separating along my lip lines and any imperfections.
The texture felt more velvety without traditional slip–more glide like a silicone-based primer–that also felt very lightweight and thin on. It stayed on decently for two hours but settled more noticeably into my lip lines in the third hour of wear.

Mathilde
NARS Mathilde Audacious Sheer Matte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a very light, peachy-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium color coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque pigmentation. The texture felt smooth and more like a silicone-based primer, so it glided on and felt more velvety with a very lightweight feel once applied.
The product applied fairly evenly, but it settled into my lip lines and bunched around any imperfections in lip texture. It wore for an hour and a half and felt non-drying over time.

I am starting to suspect Nars doesn’t like his mom much…what an abysmal collection!
Oy vay! As bad as the blush. S.t. Is seriously up and wrong at Nars. The blushes and lips are usually reliable. The eyeshadows hit or miss. This ‘sheer matte’…. Whatta misnomer THAT is…. so beyond dreadful. They look pretty ok at social distancing length, but…. unacceptable. Did FN try to get a formula that is mask-friendly? Uh, miss. I think as consumers we have a mental picture of brand’s general offerings and performance. Throw that idea out the window, Francois.
Wow. To me, sheer and matte is kind of an oxymoron in the context of bullet lipsticks (lip tints, maybe), so I was wondering how this would work. Apparently it doesn’t. Yikes.
That said, that skin swatch makes me think Anais would be a lovely blush color. I mean, I wouldn’t use that as a blush – I just want that color in a blush in a much nicer formula.
Nars needs a trip to the eye doctor, since he seems to think this is “rose beige.”
Thanks for saving me (another) $34, Christine!
Hey there! Got smooth, perfect lips but you want to have prune lips instead? Step right this way!
Boy, are these horrid looking. Especially that first one, Anais! Berenice is not *too* awful looking in the above provided picture that likely was photographed immediately after application. Sounds like it wore awfully afterwards, though.
From the brand that bought us the beautiful Audacious line – to this! It’s like Urban Decay’s eyeshadows – gone to the pits.
Well…. this collection was a misfire ..I hope future collection are more of what we’re use to from NARS .
Sheer matte doesn’t even make sense to my.
Oh my! Surely they could have done better formula design and beta testing earlier on. What a shame! The packaging for this collection is so pretty. Come on, Nars, we know you can do better! I have lots of your products, all treasures.
What a shame! The two colors I like the most are “F”‘s!!!
