NARS Chelsea Girls Lipgloss
NARS Chelsea Girls Lipgloss

NARS Chelsea Girls LipglossNARS Chelsea Girls Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “pink beige.” It’s a slighly muted, light-medium pinky-peach with a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered the lips evenly, but I found the color to pull into lip lines. It wasn’t too noticeable from afar, but it did gather more gloss as it wore on. The texture is light-medium in weight, is comfortable to wear with a light tackiness. It stayed on for four hours on me and was hydrating while worn. Several readers mentioned Chelsea Girls Lip Lacquer, but unfortunately, I don’t have that, so I cannot compare the two! NYX Tres Leches (P, $6.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Bardot Beige (P, $22.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Sweet Stiletto (P, $22.00) is darker, more muted. NARS Chihuahua (P, $26.00) is cooler. NARS Giza (P, $26.00) is lighter, warmer. Maybelline Nude Illusion (060) (P, $8.99) is lighter, warmer. Bobbi Brown Nude Pink (LE, $24.00) is more shimmery, lighter, more muted. MAC Persistent Peach (P, $19.50) is lighter, cooler. MAC Everlasting Nude (LE, $19.50) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

NARS Baby Doll LipglossNARS Baby Doll Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “shimmering candy pink.” It’s a lightly brightened, medium pink with warm undertones and lighte rpink and silver shimmer. It reminds me of strawberry milk but brighter. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage with a high-shine, high-shimmer finish. The gloss had a light-medium weight to it and felt a little thicker than some of NARS’ glosses have in the past, and it seemed to sit in lip lines more with this particular shade. On me, it lasted for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating with light tackiness. Maybelline Blush Essence (095) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery, cooler. MAC Domestic Diva (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery, darker, brighter, cooler. NARS Candy Says (LE, $26.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Christine, do you think Chelsea Girls is a dupe for MAC’s (Toledo) Oxblood lipglass? I love Oxblood and since it was LE, I need a replacement. I wrote to MAC and the Rep. suggested Spice which, to me, looks nothing like Oxblood (or at least Spice looks, well, spicier!) Thanks!

I usually like my glosses a little more opaque but Baby Doll is so cute. The glitter gives it a little oomph

Chelsea Girl actually looks pretty similar to the lip lacquer with the same name. I actually prefer the lip lacquer since it doesn’t settle in to lines like the lipgloss. Unfortunately I think the Nars lip lacquers got discontinued.

Wow, Babydoll really does look a lot like Domestic Diva! Which, of course means I love it. But I will try to get a backup of Domestic Diva, though. If I still can, otherwise Babydoll.
Chelsea Girls is a beautiful shade, but I don’t know about that formula…I’ll most likely get Nyx Tres Leches instead.

Ok this is such a weird coincidence! Last year Chelsea Girls was discontinued (the one in the pot) and I couldn’t track it down anywhere! Last week I got a $25 eBay credit and found it for $30 so I ordered it. It arrived yesterday and I’m obsessed with it. Then I come in here and see its back (but in a tube instead!) I’m so happy bc I love it and now I don’t have to use it sparingly!

So excited for Chelsea Girls! For so long I tried to get the lacquer but it was always sold out and then they discontinued it. 🙁 Definitely getting this and the Pasiphae eyeshadow from this collection. Do you know if they’re making these lipglosses permanent?

I like Baby Doll ! It’s going on my wish list for this collection. So, the glosses are not LE? How do you think Baby Doll will work as a layer gloss? I got Mac’s Rollergirl thinking I could layer it over lipsticks. But, it almost melts the lipstick under it..so weird.

Hi Christine!

I feel like NARS has the right idea or the right intentions with their glosses, but I don’t like how they perform. Do you find it difficult to get enough gloss onto the doe foot applicator during use? What I mean is, whenever I try to apply the gloss, I never get enough on the applicator. I felt like their Orgasm shade was worth a shot for summer makeup looks, but I can never get enough product to apply. Also, the texture is quite gritty, and the gloss doesn’t stay on my lips for long.

P.S. I have removed the stopper from their glosses to get more product, but then it’s so messy to put the doe foot applicator back in. So much for reformulating and improving their packaging.

They definitely don’t pull out a lot of gloss each time, though they are better than the Larger Than Life glosses, which feels like it takes 238947234 pulls, haha.

These are finally happening!! I loved the Chelsea Girl colour from their lip lacquers for such a long long time, but too bad the formula is so tacky, and required finger dipping!! Finally they turned these colours into lip glosses!! Can’t believe this. Thank you for the review as usual Christine 🙂

They finally brought back these shades…although I really liked when they were in that little pot. Baby Doll was the shade Carrie Bradshaw always applied on SATC. 🙂

Ooh, I’ve got both of these in the Lip Lacquer formula and I really like them. They’re pretty long lasting in comparison to lip gloss and are both great colours for everyday. These look nice but I think I’ll pass. 🙂
