NARS Blissful Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Blissful
NARS Blissful Powder Blush ($30.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with warm, rose undertones and flecks of gold, plum, and teal shimmer that yielded a luminous sheen. It might be one of the more complex blushes that NARS has released in awhile. According to the brand, while it’s new for fall, it wasn’t marked limited edition so we should expect to see it as part of the permanent line going forward.
From NARS’ website, their blush formula is described as “beautifully pigmented” and “soft [and] blendable.” Blissful was fairly soft–it could have been more finely-milled–but had good pigmentation that was semi-opaque in a single layer but buildable to full coverage with a second layer, which I tend to find makes for a more versatile cheek color and gives the user more control over application. There were finer and larger flecks of shimmer but they stayed largely in place throughout the day. The blush blended out well on the skin, and the shimmery finish did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture. On me, the color wore well for eight and a half hours before fading slightly.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.16 oz. - $187.50 Per Ounce
From NARS’ website, their blush formula is described as “beautifully pigmented” and “soft [and] blendable.” NARS' blushes, since they've been released in such a massive range of shades over the years, can vary from shade to shade to some degree. Most shades are pigmented with firmer, slightly stiffer consistencies that can also run on the thinner side, which allows greater control when picking up product but some of the more matte shades could be a bit more blendable or easier to work with.
Some of the more newly-released shades have softer, more yielding textures that are a bit creamier and are easier to blend out, though most of NARS' blushes are fairly blendable. The wear typically ranges from eight to nine hours with a few shades falling above or below this range.

I thought it was going to be quite dark for lighter skin tones given the heavy purple tones in the container but it looks absolutely gorgeous on you!
Thank you, T!
Such a pretty shade, kind of a plummy cranberry? Will be great for fall/winter
Agreed — very fallish!
Magnificent looking blush, for real! Like UD Rapture on some major steroids. I’m going to have to get this one even though I have Rapture as well as LG Pink Buttercream. This is a thing of beauty!
It is such a fun shade for fall!
I’m so getting this. I have two blushes that could be described as warm plum, but neither has shimmer, and especially not “gold, plum, and teal” shimmer.
I just got done experimenting with them to see if layering a teal highlighter over them could get the same effect, but my highlighter is very subtle and lays a fine, satiny layer of color, so it has the effect of changing the underlying color like a watercolor wash, rather than being distinct from it like a separate shimmer. At least I tried …
I bet a teal highlighter would give you more oomph – it’s there but certainly not a whole teal shift, you know? Could be fun 🙂
Oh my….how beautiful and autumnal and just want-able! And it’s permanent. Happy, happy!
The color is gorgeous!
Geez, I’m annoyed. This beauty is showing as “online only” (I know, I know – I’m tiresome about this whole issue so I apologize). I already have MAC Plum Foolery and UD Rapture and MAC’s Wrapped Candy has been on my “maybe list” (it turned surprisingly warm on me when I tried it in-store) so I’d sort of like to be able to check this beauty out on my skin and against the other 3 products before buying it (since I’m “supposed” to be challenging myself to cut back on makeup buying). Stuff like this blush makes it difficult.
Oh no!! 🙁 I know my local Nordstrom had it in but obviously you’re in Canada, so I’m less familiar with the options for NARS there – surprised it is listed as online only, though!
What great timing! Have been shopping around for a plummy blush for fall and was struggling to decide between nars sin, Mac plumfoolery, thebalm cabanaboy, UD TMI and now this! I’m leaning toward a NARS blush because nars blushes tend to wear well on me but I hesitate BC I’m not a big fan of frost. Do you think nars sin or blissful would look frosty from a normal viewing distance?
I don’t think it looks frosty to me, personally, but I might have a higher threshold for what is “frosty,” do you know what I mean?
That totally makes sense: frostiness can subjective.
Oh this is quite a lovely shade! It’s not your usual colour but I love the tone!
It is a beauty!
Hmmm… I’m thinking, if I can pull off Sin, I can most likely make this one work… I don’t often go this deep/dark when it comes to blush, and I do have a few already, but this one seems pretty unique/complex…
There are a couple of items I’ve been wanting to order from NARS, and I have a feeling this will end up in the mix.
I agree – if you can do Sin, you can probably do this one!
This is a beautiful blush for those whose complexions suit this shade. And the name is decent too…Well done Nars.
It is lovely!
This blush is gorgeous! ? Must add it to my collection.
Agreed!
I also like the Burberry dupe, but I like this price so much better! It’s going on the list.
Woohoo! 🙂
How beautiful and unique!! This is a must! Thanks Christine you are a doll!
My pleasure, Janine!
How very mandatory! Cart. Now. Glad you said there’s teal, bec I thought I was nuts when I saw greenl. Alecto, you’re so right. Will try the abh Aurora shades over this. It’ll look so awesome with mauve or green/teal,eye looks. Yeah, Mac plumage, get in a cart, too. Could not say no, such a Nars blush ho.
Haha, “get in cart!” Maybe it’s still early but that made me giggle envisioning you saying that!
Hi Christine, do you think this blush would look great on someone with fair complexion and cool tone?
Yes, I think so!
I absolutely love this! Flecks of teal in a plum blush? I do have NARS Sexual Content but I have made a very big dent in it. I will need to get this!
I am impressed 😉
This blush looks beautiful. I plan to pick it up.
Enjoy, Tracey!
Sheesh, I love it. It might be too much for me so another swatcher.
I bought this, and the color and finish are just amazing. I have a feeling I’m going to be using it a lot this fall.
Oooooh pretty!! My plum blush game is about to have a new player. ?
I need the blush ASAP! What a beautiful color! And you wear it so well.
Any idea when this collection will be available at Sephora?
Thanks in advance.
This is such a beautiful shade; I need to check it out as I’m afraid it might be a bit dark for me. I really want it, though!
