What about your skincare routine makes you the happiest?

There’s a certain freeing feeling washing away that day’s makeup (especially since I tend to wear quite a bit every day) and watching it all go down the drain!

I am going to cheat and list three. The first is getting my mascara off. I am almost 100% faithful to water proof mascara’s because I have very hooded eyes and I have yet to find a regular mascara that doesn’t give me raccoon eyes within the first hour. Most waterproof mascara’s are the same so I use Cover Girl Lash Sensation in the Waterproof formula. It use to be quite the chore and I would have to use repeated steps to get it off. Now I use Tatcha Camellia Oil Makeup Remover and my mascara is gone after one pump and very gentle rubbing, a serious win.
The second is when I use my Tatcha Rice Polishing Powder. I love everything about this product. I wet my face, put a very small amount of the powder into the palm of my hand, add a drop of water and begin massaging onto my face. It is so soft, makes a slight lather, smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling so incredibly soft. I have read reviews where people complain about the powder flying every where or clumping on the skin. I have never had either issue. I love this product.
Lastly, my Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Eye Gel. I have used this product faithfully for about 4 months and was seeing really good results. I ran out during my recent trip and the Sephora’s that I went to were sold out also. I have noticed some of the gains I had made slipping back. I am actually typing this in Spokane, Washington where I am picking up another bottle. It isn’t cheap but if I continue to see results I will pay the price.
Ultimately, everyone is different and for me I see results with these products.

There was a time not too long ago when I couldn’t go 4 hours without my skin flaking, even after exfoliating. Every morning, I would have flaky dry patches all over my face regardless of what skincare I had used the previous evening. My skin had changed from dry to very dry. Dealing with it made me a crazy person. Nothing helped. Aging — you gotta love it, NOT! When I discovered 100% glycerin and mixed a tiny amount of it into my morning and evening moisturizer, my skin changed almost overnight into what it had been before all the flaking began. So, this question was a no-brainer for me: Applying my amped-up moisturizer makes me very, very happy.

When I figure out when/how to fit in the products I used at night, since I started differin. The whole frontal lobe aspect of it, the planning and organizing, esp now that one big slot is taken. Also, empties, especially for the non-repurchase of stuff that I actually like. Think that means cutting down and fewer options. Who needs five second cleansers, anyway?

I like applying any layer that feels wet and cool — essences, gels, whatever. I have extremely dry skin, and while I appreciate that my heavier creams and lotions are critical, the watery stuff feels so nice. 🙂

The swirl of color down the drain when I first wash my face in the evening!

I’ve been using Clean it Zero for the first wash and it gets everything off including mascara. Huge relief that I don’t have to use eye makeup remover (mostly if I take my time) and save that step.

After I double cleanse I use the Cosrx blackhead power liquid and pat it into my skin. It’s a very gentle bha but as it soaks in and lightly hydrates I like to visually imagine all my pores being exfoliated and it’s such a calming feeling.

For me, it’s a lymphatic massage with a jade facial roller on my face and neck. I bought it this spring after I read an article on fashionista.com and I picked the Herbivore Botanicals one from the company’s website.

After double cleansing (Shu Uemura cleansing oil followed by Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash or Youth to the People Cleanser), and removing all the remaining makeup traces with Bioderma micellar water, I put a sheet mask or I just prepare my skin for the night with my usual skincare products. Then I take my Herbivore Botanicals jade roller and perform a gentle but thorough massage starting with my neck and then my face. Any tension is gone after a 20 min massage. The Herbivore Botanicals jade roller has two stones; a bigger one for neck and face and a smaller to be used for the under eye area. Of course that you can use it any time of the day (I use it in the morning for about 3-5min). Also, it helps with migraines. I am a migraine sufferer and my migraine always starts above the left eye; massaging that area towards the temple, takes the pain away.

The jade stones are naturally cold and this helps a lot. You can let the device in the fridge if you want, but for me it’s not necessary. Gothamista posted a great YT video a couple of weeks ago on how to perform a lymphatic massage (on face: always go towards the temples; on neck: always downward). Pay attention to the fake jade rollers. I preferred to order mine from Herbivore Botanicals USA as I knew I got the real stuff.

when the products achieve their intended purpose and didnt make me feel i’ve wasted my money. this applies across all categories of skincare and makeup. there are too many options in the beauty market so finding a good product is akin to unicorn status!
