Milani Green Safari Shadow Eyez Review, Photos, Swatches
Milani Green Safari Shadow Eyez
Milani Green Safari Shadow Eyez
Milani Green Safari Shadow Eyez ($6.99 for 0.10 oz.) is an emerald green with subtle yellow undertones. MAC Fresh Flare is yellower. Wet ‘n’ Wild Earth Looks Small From Down Here is similar, a little more muted. Urban Decay Graffiti is very close, perhaps a smidgen lighter. Inglot #385 is matte and darker. MAC Jealousy Wakes is darker, more teal.
Milani’s Shadow Eyez formula is touted to last for twelve hours and be water-resistant and crease-proof. Green Safari was the first shade I tested wear on, and it lasted for ten hours really, really well; after twelve hours, there was minor creasing that was barely noticeable. The texture is creamy enough to enable easy application without tugging or pulling on the skin of the lid, but it’s obviously not so creamy that it slips and slides and gathers in the creases.
The color is buildable and doesn’t turn or feel waxy as you go back and forth to ensure a really even layer of color. It has good pigmentation in one pass, and it can be opaque without much effort or product. Â It sets in about twenty seconds, and it’s blendable enough that you don’t have to feel super hurried to get the job done.

While this color doesn’t appeal to me I might check out others in the range.Â
@yellowlantern You HAVE to check out the purple! It’s seriously great for the price,
Hey, Christine, where’s the final pick with your eye open? 😉  Appears to me to have a UD Graffiti undertone, only slightly darker.
@summerblue I didn’t include one, as I did not take one!
Glad to see a long wear product that is actually long wearing. ^_^
Wow…it looks very good even after 12 hours… I think I’ll give this one a try for sure!
I am so getting this 😀
Can’t wait to get my hands on that. Â Such a lovely shade of green <3
I have this and the blue pencil, and they are really fabulous, and idiot-proof as well. I agree with the A!Â
i dont know why you said it doesn’t wear well for the 12 hours as promised…i think it looks brilliant even after 12 hours…. the wear that is… not sure abt this colour…
Slight creasing 🙂Â
holy staying power batman!
Awesome! Going to go check out the other colors in the range now. Green isn’t very…me. 😉
Christine I am glad you’ve reviewed some of the new stuff from Milani, because I think they are so underrated!!!! I got the purple color to try (love it) & now this one is on my list :)))
Fabulous wear time! And the shade is gorgeous!
Wow, that’s impressive!
I’ve been looking for a green base color for some time. I will *definitely* keep my eyes peeled for this! I’m also curious what other colors they have…
I’ve been so skeptical about these, but now I think I’ll need to get all of them! This one looks amazing
I”m just imagining you wearing that exact eye swatch for the whole 12 hours- you go, Christine!  Dedication to the max. 🙂
I am definitely checking these out when I go to the drugstore later. I love how affordable they are–and obviously, the quality is all there. I LOVE that Milani has really been stepping it up lately. Great products and one of my absolute favorite drugstore brands. I generally don’t like to buy these large pencil products because I have very little lid space, but at the price, I won’t feel bad about experimenting a little bit!
Thank you, Milani, for showing us that NARS really has no excuse for the shadow pencils.
Longevity = 9/10? How long does it need to last after 12 hours of looking perfect??????
They’re supposed to last 12 hours, and there was some very, very slight creasing after 10 and more noticeable creasing after 12 (which was minor, but noticeable). It’s not perfect wear for 12 hours – it’s really GOOD wear, and it’s a great product, but they did call out 12 hours specifically 🙂
@Christine (Temptalia) I appreciate the fact that you hold companies accountable for the claims they make. So many other reviewers brush it under the rug.
I’m so excited to try these. I dream of a eyeshadow pencil that is both creamy and long wearing. I just don’t find both those qualities exist in any I’ve tried.Â
Wow that is really impressive!
It looks even better on the eye than in the swatch or in the pencil!! Wow. I have to say, with every post of yours, I become more and more impressed with Milani. It’s definitely superceded some non-drugstore brands as something that interests me. That said, I’m sad that I *still* can’t find that special CVS collection of eyeshadows that you reviewed a few weeks ago. I’ve gone to 3 or 4 diff. CVS stores but nope… nowhere in sight. <sigh>  Maybe I’ll just pick up this pencil to comfort myself in the meantime.
That is awesome! I can’t believe it lasted that long without creasing at all.
Christine, how does the texture of these compare with the UD Shadow pencils?
 @BooBooNinja Very similar!
Seems like you had slightly better luck than I did. I found that it was slightly more likely than the UD 24/7s to crease on me–without a base. Over a base, it does fine. I have only tried the green, since I have UD dupes for the others but the white, which I don’t need.
Â
Overall, I think this is worth the money you’d save to pick it over the UD one…though there are some more unique colors in the UD collection that are worth a look at if you end up loving all the Milani ones and want some more colors.
Wow, Milani is coming out with awesome stuff lately!
I totally agree with this review. It is an awesome eyeshadow with a great price. Milani has some really good products at affordable prices. They almost make me want to stop buying the more pricey products (like UD’s 24/7 shadow sticks).
I really adore a lot of Milani products. Haven’t tried this eye pencil yet. The green color would not be my pick, but I want to check out the other colors now. 😀
Will you be doing a swatch for the other Shadow Eyez? I’m super interested in this green, but I’d like to know if Royal Purple & the other shades are equally as good.

These look really nice, can’t wait to see more swatches. They’ll make an incredible base under powder shadows to add some depth. Unfortunately, in Canada I believe these are closer to $9. Cheaper than UD, NARS, etc but there’s still quite a difference in price. Especially for a drug store product. I’ll be buying some of these on my next shopping trip to the US. I’m tired of getting ripped off here when our dollar has been trading at nearly the same rate as the US dollar for quite some time now.
