Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipsticks
Maybelline Hibiscus Pop (715) Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a cool-toned, cotton candy pink with blue undertones and a soft, pearly shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, but it had a higher amount of slip, which caused the color to apply unevenly with a tendency to streak. It pulled into lip lines after two hours of wear, and it lasted for a total of three. Maybelline Petal Pink (710) (P, $7.49) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Alexander (LE, $32.00) is more matte. MAC Ladies Who Lunch (LE, $22.00) is a smidgen lighter. Givenchy Rose Dahlia (210) (P, $36.00) is more muted. NARS Villa Lante (LE, $25.00) is moreo matte. YSL Fetish Pink (8) (P, $34.00) is a smidgen darker. NARS Roman Holiday (P, $26.00) is more muted. Maybelline Pink Pop (P, $7.49) is cooler-toned. MAC Divine Choice (P, $22.00) is darker, less luminous. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Power Peony (720) Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a brightened, light-medium pink with strong, cool, blue undertones that leans almost lavender. It had a soft shine with more opaque coverage, but there was still some translucency so the natural coloring of your lips may alter the way it looks on you. It lasted for four hours on me. Tom Ford Beauty Preston (LE, $32.00) is less blue-based. Illamasqua Luster (P, $26.00) is brighter. Maybelline Pink Pop (P, $7.49) is less luminous. MAC Naughty Saute (LE, $16.00) is glossier. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Narcissus (P, $18.00) is a smidgen darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Lilac Flush (725) Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a pink-tinted lavender with a luminous finish. It had semi-opaque coverage, but it was more slippery and didn’t apply evenly. I noticed slight gathering in the lip lines towards the end of the three-hour wear, but it wasn’t as noticeable as with Hibiscus Pop. ColourPop Brills (P, $5.00) is darker, more matte. NYX Rose (P, $6.00) is lighter, more matte. MAC Dodgy Girl (LE, $16.00) is lighter, more matte. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Mannequin (P, $18.00) is lighter, more matte. MAC Raspberry Swirl (LE, $16.00) is pinker. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Digitalis (P, $18.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Power Peony is such a cute color! I actually can’t wait for spring so I can wear it more often. I also hope I can find Lilac Flush too. It’s been sold out at every store I’ve been to but I really want it
Hope you can find it, Fancie 😉
Damn, I had high hopes for Hibiscus!
Aww 🙁
Nope – not a fan of these colours and the ratings aren’t that great either. Way too pink for my colouring.
Lots of cool pinks in this release!
Not the best formula, but it’s cheap and pretty spring colors, if you can wear them
True! And if you normally wear a lip liner, it should be okay.
Pretty colors, but so patchy. Power Peony looks decent, but dupeable. I’m passing on this whole line for sure.
I wish they went on better!
I just starting seeing these at rite aid this week! I didn’t pick any up because they looked too bold but your swatches make them look a lot more wearable!
They’re not too bold!
Wow! Power Peony means business, LOL! It’s a real Barbie pink 🙂 I still can’t get past the white base on these, but I don’t want to be a stuck-record about it >_< The actual colours are really pretty, especially Lilac and Hibiscus, but that streaking from the base…
LOL! Barbie-pink indeed.
These are too pastel for me, too much white in the colors. They would be lighter than my skin tone, which always looks horrible on me. Pass.
Totally understand!
The pigmentation is amazing but too bad the quality isn’t there!
I agree!
These are lovely pinks but wont work for my warm skintone.. :-/ Though Power Peony looks great on you.. 🙂
Thank you!
I would have thought Hibiscus would have a bigger pop….after all it tastes pretty good in tea! I still think all the shades of pink are pretty especially lilac flush.
lol!
When I use a really good and somewhat drying “lip-primer” underneath Lilac Flush, it applies like a dream! Opaque after a few swipes, and not patchy at all. The lipstick is emollient enough to keep my lips feeling comfortable all day, although I do need to touch up every few hours (1.5-2.5 hours). My mother says it’s the best lipstick colour she’s ever seen on me, and I’ve tried quite a few! haha
I look forward to getting Petal Pink as well, soon. Even though the Vivids range is by far superior in lasting-power and general quality (although two of the shades I have of that line need lots of building up to be opaque), I still really like Lilac Flush so far, and I feel like it’s a fantastic “mixing” or layering lipstick to have around. It’s a lovely somewhat non-normative colour, and I’m glad to see the more accessible drugstore brands branch out like this. 🙂
Great reviews from you, as always!
Thanks for the tips, Cicely! 🙂
Hmmm, nope, I’ll stick with the coral and peachy shades 🙂
🙂
Hey Christine, this post is missing the (presumably based on their sister posts) ‘purchased by me’ badge at the top.
Fixed! Sorry about that.
I have this in Power Peony and I love it.
Yay!
