Maybelline Electric Orange ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a brighteneed, medium-dark orange with warm, reddish undertones and a subtle sheen. We’ve definitely seen this kind of orange from several brands, but this is a more budget-friendly version. MAC Fashion Nomad is more matte. MAC Morange is perhaps a touch lighter. MAC Neon Orange is not as glossy. Illamasqua Flare is matte. Clarins Clementine has a faint shimmer.

It had very nearly opaque color coverage with the merest hint of the natural lip color coming through, but it was only noticeable at a very close range. The effect of that is really that the color doesn’t look heavy on–there’s a lightness to it, even if it is bright orange!  I think that’s one of the most appealing aspects of the formula is how it doesn’t look or feel as heavy as many more matte/cream-finish shades are.  Electric Orange lasted for five and a half hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating while I wore it.  The formula had a moderately creamy consistency that enabled good glide without sliding around all over the place once applied.

I have the awful confession to make that I am a total makeup snob. I refuse to buy drugstore makeup. From what you have shown recently though, it seems like drugstore companies are really picking up their game. I’m going to go to Walgreens to check these out!

As long as you read reviews first and know what’s good and what’s not, it’ll definitely broaden your collection in a good way.

I sometimes laugh when I do a look with, say, all drugstore eye makeup and then I put on a Guerlain lipstick, but I will buy whatever I like if it works!

Hi Christine, how does this compare to urban decays punch drunk super saturated lip pencil. I would love your thoughts. Have a great Sunday.

Yay, I love a good drugstore find that compares to high-end options! I’m putting together a favorite drugstore makeup blog post and I’ll have it up on Tuesday. A good find just has to be shared!

i am so glad you loved these formulas as much as i did. i will take them over MAC any day. this color is gorgeous and for whatever reason actually is pretty wearable and not insanely bright.

I bought this lipstick a few weeks ago….love it! It has a creamy consistency and its a nice warm orange. I don’t feel like Ronald McDonald when I wear it. 🙂 I decided that this will be my go to orange lipstick this summer instead of MAC’s current orange collection.

Like the color in the tube but for me it just miss the mark on having enough pigment. I prefer products like lips sticks to be very pigmented so that I do not have to put on so much in order for it to show up. Pity, I do love the color orange.
