Benefit Milk It Longwear Powder Eyeshadow
Benefit Milk It Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “pearly white.” It’s a neutral white with a pearly, metallic finish. There are a lot of similar white eyeshadows, but here were a few that I thought I’d mention specifically: Urban Decay Polyester Bride has a similar finish but is a touch less stark; bareMinerals Silhouette is less metallic; and NARS Self Portrait 2 is cooler-toned.
It had very good pigmentation, and it applied mostly opaquely when I was testing it, both on my arm as well as on the lid. This shade had a really lovely, buttery and creamy consistency that helped it apply smoothly over the skin. The finish is on the more metallic side, and frostier shades tend to be easier to blend, as this one was. Depending on your skin tone, the metallic finish, combined with rich color payoff, may make this too stark, but the neutral undertone will help. It lasted eight hours well on the lid, and after nine hours, there was very faint creasing (without a primer).
This shade can also be found in Benefit’s Sexiest Nudes Ever Palette, which contains four eyeshadows and two Creaseless Cream Shadows for $30.00 (the eyeshadows are 0.04 oz. each, and the cream eyeshadows are 0.11 oz. each, but it’s still a way better deal than buying this eyeshadow on its own unless you LOVE this one and loathe all the others). I love the idea behind the palettes, and I think it’s great that they’re available individually, but the pricing/quantity is presenting an argument that’s difficult to ignore.

I could only see myself using this as a highlighter, and for that I think it is too expensive. That doesn’t mean it’s not pretty though. It really is 🙂
This is surprisingly beautiful. It doesn’t look like much in the pan, but I’m super impressed with the swatch.
That’s a seriously pretty white and I’m impressed with the pigmentation. This just jumped onto my need list.
Is there any iridescence to it? (I pretty much despise iridescence….lol)
There is shimmer, but I wouldn’t say it’s iridescent!
Pretty! But when I go this stark, personally, I need a little bit of a duochrome or something to make it look a little more complex. At least on the lid.
This is pretty 😀 , I don´t really care to much about eyeshadow but this could be a subtle one on me and it´s really gorgeous.
Benefit HAS to be kidding with their price point. I worked there 6 years (quit in 2006) and I always thought the price was way too high for the quality. I received a free Flower Beauty creme eyeshadow from a Drew Barrymore event that I attended earlier this month.. it is a pearly white and probably the best I’ve ever used to date. Very long lasting and I think the retail price is only $6 -$7 at walmart or walmart.com. I am done paying designer prices for “cute” packaging at Benefit.
Benefit has been drugstore quality makeup forever now it seems. I worked there ages ago, and for a very long time. I witnessed the decline in ingredients and formulations. I’d always thought that as the company grew, the products would get better. Silly me. There are so many cosmetics companies more deserving of accounts in department stores. It’s hard to believe that women are paying such high prices for packaging.
If there were ever a point where I needed another white frost eyeshadow, I’d check this one out. However, I’m still working through my Revlon Pure Pearl, and I have 5 backups. I’m a big fan of this sort of shade as a brow highlight, although I will admit it’s not for everyone.
I actually really love these light, frosted shades. They actually work very well on my hooded eyes – I generally wear them on the main part of the lid with a darker, more matte shade on the corner, and it really works to pull the focus toward the center. I’ll have to keep the Nudes palette in mind.
