Maybelline Almond Rose, Toasted Truffle, Brown Blush Color Sensational Inti-Matte Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Almond Rose
Maybelline Almond Rose Color Sensational Inti-Matte Lip Color ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a slightly brighter, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had excellent coverage with a smooth, lightly creamy consistency that glided across the lips comfortably. It wore well for four and a half hours with a bit of color that had settled into my deeper lip lines, but overall, it was lightly hydrating and didn’t emphasize the texture of my lips like some of the other shades in the Inti-Matte range did.
Maybelline’s Color Sensational line does have a sweet, perfume-y scent to them, though it did not seem quite as overwhelming in the Inti-Matte range compared to past launches to my nose.

Toasted Truffle
Maybelline Toasted Truffle Color Sensational Inti-Matte Lip Color ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, dark plummy brown with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that covered the lips with even coverage. The texture felt more emollient than other shades with less heaviness (though I would not characterize the formula as heavy)–it just seemed a little more balm-like when I applied it to lips directly from the tube. This shade wore well for four hours on me and was lightly moisturizing.

Brown Blush
Maybelline Brown Blush Color Sensational Inti-Matte Lip Color ($7.99 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly and smoothly to my lips. The consistency was lightweight, creamy without being slippery, and comfortable to wear. The color stayed on well for four and a half hours, left a faint pinkish stain behind, and was lightly hydrating.

You have been reviewing a lot of warm toned lip products lately. Don’t forget your cool-toned friends ?
The majority of lip products I review are new formulas and all the shades they have… not exactly my fault if brands aren’t putting more cool-toned shades in their ranges. I’m not sure why you think that I’m trying to exclude anyone!
I would consider myself more cool toned and none of these colors clash IMO.
Brown Blush is pretty well suited for cool toned skin.
Hi Melissa, I’m sure you didn’t mean anything by this comment, but really Christine does not have any say in what the cosmetic companies release as far as warm or cool tones. I look terrible in warm tones, so I feel your pain — but there’s nothing that Christine can do about the big cosmetic companies heavily favoring warm toned products. It’s actually those companies who have mostly forgotten we cool toned folks.
Well said. I agree wholeheartedly. Christine does an awesome job with her reviews. She’s saved me a ton of money and I totally appreciate the service she provides.
These will probably launch here next year or so, but that doesn’t matter. I am happy to see that Toasted Trufle is a perfect dupe (a relaunch?) of my beloved ‘Lasting Chestnut’ the 14 hrs stay lipstick from Maybelling wich I cannot find anymore. So yay for that! 🙂
Fingers crossed it is a dupe for you when it does launch for you!
I think Brown Blush is very pretty.
I agree!
I do also. May get that one.
Some pretty colors here. I’ve got a massive collection of makeup in general so I’ve been looking more at your dupes to shop my stash more. I rediscovered a ton of eye shadows from your dupes on Kyle Jenner palette review. I’m curious how do you come up with the dupes, that has to be pretty hard to remember what all in your collection is similar.
I’m not sure I understand the cool toned comment, I assume more of a preference ? I’m cool toned in skin color or netural, but I like these colors a lot. I used to be a nude only wearing lipstick but lately been getting out of the box. Not sure I’ll ever be able to wear the blues and purples etc though.
I start by looking for similar shades in the Swatch Gallery 🙂
I think Christine may have overreacted and overpersonalized the comment — but that being said, soooooo very many cosmetics are warm toned and it gets annoying for folks who don’t like or look lousy in warm tones to see almost constant releases of warm tones.from the cosmetic companies. However, it is also true that Christine is just swatching new products for our benefit and does not have any control over what companies release or what they think we should be wearing. I hope that some of the cosmetic companies pay attention to the comments left by consumers about warm vs. cool tone preferences.
I don’t take it lightly when someone says I’m excluding people – I really try to be very inclusive here, and it is a tenet of the community to be as inclusive and accepting of everyone as much as possible. It hurts my heart to know that someone believes that I’m deliberately excluding an entire group when I am most definitely not!
I typically review full ranges of shades or else try to pick a variety of colors (e.g. something light, medium, dark, matte, shimmer, etc.) if I’m not doing all shades so that I can get a better feel for the consistency and quality across the range. I’ve routinely mentioned the need for cooler products (particularly palettes and contour products) in various QOTDs and the like as well!
I’m always surprised at what gets you, Christine (after reading the blog since 2007). I don’t see where she alluded to deliberate exclusion to warrant such a defensive post from you.
The comment said that I was forgetting my “cool-toned friends,” when I’m not trying to review warm over cool products! If anything, I feel that I try to keep an eye out for anything new and upcoming from brands that might be cool (I get pretty excited every time I see MAC put out a cooler quad, and then I get so annoyed when they blunder it!). I do think it’s okay for someone to defend themselves if and when they are hurt by someone’s words or when someone makes an erroneous assumption – I didn’t think there was ayn issue explaining that it’s not a result of my actions – that I’m not forgetting or excluding anyone but am reviewing brand new lip products and their full shade ranges. I’m sorry for disappointing you!
Love Toasted Truffle but have enough dupes, but Brown Blush is catching my attention! It also looks close to BB Uber Rose too, which is a lot more expensive
Sort of a less glossy version!
I like all of these. Thanks for the review!
No problem, Tiffany! 🙂
Toasted Truffle and Brown Blush look nice, a bit different, I like that.
Yay! 🙂
I picked up Almond Rose on a whim at my grocery store (for only $5.79) and I am obsessed with it- love the color and the formula. I will have to pick up the two others from this post too!
So happy to hear you’re digging Almond Rose, Agata!
Brown Blush is really pretty.
It is!
Each of these is a winner! Almond Rose is the only one that I don’t think I’ve got a dupe for of the 3. But of course I’m immediately drawn to the other 2, right? ?
That figured out, I am all set to try on MAC Dearly Beloved. It’s still different enough from everything else in the less usual darker nudes/neutrals.
I can’t wait for you to get Dearly Beloved! 🙂
Some nice colors! I keep meaning to get Bite Pastille. Brown Blush is nice for us cool toned folks.
Pastille is a pretty one!
I got Brown Blush and wear it often. It’s a nice color for me.
Nice! 🙂
These are so so shades – very much like the shades that Maybelline has had out before. Thank you for the review Christine. Even though I don’t like the colours, the quality is excellent for the price.
The deeper ones seem to be better – less of a chalky/white base to them!
I really like Almond Rose and Brown Blush, but I have multiple dupes so I’ll pass. They are really pretty though.
Thank goodness for dupes 🙂
I like Brown Blush but since I already own MAC Amorous and love it I’ll pass.
I love seeing drugstore brands in your reviews. While I usually shop at Sephora, I’m recently learning Target has a lot of great products that I’ve overlooked.
Hi Christine, could you perhaps compare Brown Blush and Touch of Spice from Maybelline’s creamy matte line? Is there any similarity between those two? Here in Europe we don’t get most of Maybelline’s new releases (as well as many other make up brands) so I always wait for your reviews and dupe lists before I order something online, you’re really doing a great job here, keep up the good work!!
