Marc Jacobs So Sofia & Je t'aime Le Marc Lip Cremes Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Marc Jacobs Beauty So Sofia (236) Le Marc Lip Creme
Marc Jacobs Beauty So Sofia (236) Le Marc Lip Creme ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as an “electric watermelon.” It’s a bright, medium coral-pink with a satin finish. It had rich, fully opaque pigmentation that glided on without tugging for smooth, even coverage. The texture was creamy enough to feel comfortable during application, but it didn’t slide around. The color wore well for six hours but was a little drying. Marc Jacobs Beauty Core Cora (234) (P, $30.00) is cooler. Chanel La Malicieuse (46) (P, $34.00) is cooler. Make Up For Ever #37 (P, $19.00) is darker. Bite Beauty Sucre (P, $24.00) is lighter, more muted. MAC La Vie En Rouge (LE, $16.00) is darker, warmer. Bobbi Brown Watermelon (P, $26.00) is cooler. NARS Kelly (P, $32.00) is warmer, glossier. Marc Jacobs Beauty Je t’aime (238) (P, $30.00) is darker, more muted. ColourPop Frenemie (LE, $5.00) is darker, more muted. MAC Burmese Kiss (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. NARS Grace (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Je t’aime (238) Le Marc Lip Creme ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “rum raspberry.” It’s a slightly muted, medium pink-coral with a very subtle shimmer to it over a satin finish. It had good color payoff paired with a lightly creamy consistency that sat on the lips well and didn’t tug during application. The color wore for five and a half hours and was a little drying over time. Bite Beauty Corvina (P, $24.00) is lighter, brighter. NARS Grace (P, $32.00) is lighter, brighter. MAC La Vie En Rouge (LE, $16.00) is brighter, less glossy. Gucci Beauty Hibiscus Thrill (P, $39.00) is lighter, cooler. NARS Kelly (P, $32.00) is lighter. ColourPop Frenemie (LE, $5.00) is lighter, brighter. Bite Beauty Sucre (P, $24.00) is lighter, cooler. Marc Jacobs Beauty Core Cora (234) (P, $30.00) is darker, more muted. Marc Jacobs Beauty So Sofia (236) (P, $30.00) is darker, more muted. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Formula Summary: Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Creme ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) claims 10-hour wear with “vivid pigment” and a “rich, velvety” texture that is “ultra-hydrating.” As you might expect, they don’t last ten hours; they last four to six hours with some leaving a stain. The texture is lightweight, creamy, and glides on without dragging or tugging on the lip, but it doesn’t have a lot of slip so it stays in place. The formula isn’t hydrating, and it can be drying, depending on the shade. The lipstick has a sweet, floral scent, but it is very subtle, even when smelled directly from the tube.

Rum raspberry? I mean, it’s a beautiful color, but… methinks the description could use some work.
That was an interesting one!
Both of them look good, but I like Je T’Aime better – it seems like an easy red to wear -not too bright or too dark, not too warm or too cool
Agreed — Je t’aime is really well-balanced!
These are both VERY pretty 🙂
Yay!
This post reminded me that I have So Sofia somewhere . I gotta find that today. It really is a gorgeous summer color. I Really like J’ taime too. But I have Frenemie and Sucre. So,Ill probably pass.
The color range is really nice!
Those are beautiful colours!
They are!
I bought Je T’aime recently — it is a little drying, but it’s a lovely color — pulls cooler on me than you, so closer to “raspberry.” It’s great for summer, and actually pretty unique in my lipstick stash.
I think the more muted quality + finish makes a little harder to dupe!
These both look fantastic on you! 🙂
Thanks, Lotus!
Oh! Grenade Rouge G is a dupe for Je t’aime! 😀 As close as it can be.. The magic with Rouge G’s is that they cater to whatever your tone is, so however this is, that should be pretty similar, perhaps a bit cooler.. I compared your lips here in the dupe swatches and it’s great! So if someone wants a longer lasting moisturizing version.. Grenade! 😀
It has a much glossier finish, though, so I think that separates them personally as these are mostly matte!
On you, these appear to have shimmer & a sheen, even when enlarged and in the swatches. Going by photos of your lips, they appear similar on you! 🙂 Lovely lips!
Both of these look gorgeous on you Christine! Do you remember what you are wearing on your cheeks? The whole look is beautiful!
I like both!
Gorgeous colors, but “rum raspberry?” Je t’aime is not rum raspberry. I’ll stick with La Vie En Rouge.
Absolutely LOVE Je t’aime!!! Then again, why wouldn’t I? Considering that one of my favorite lippys ever is MAC La Vie En Rouge! Perhaps I can get something close by putting just a smidge of Make Me Gorgeous over La Vie En Rouge, what do you think?
I think that would work!
Thanks! I am going to do that! Wearing true matte l/s during this part of year here is nearly impossible. 112-115° dry heat…
The lipsticks are very similar to each other – but I think I like Je t’aime better. Looks good on you Christine.
I like how they look, both of them. But if I had to chose it would be Je t’aime. Not sure I’ll buy it as they are really quite expensive here, more so than they are in The US. I am very tempted, though, I must say.
