Marc Jacobs Seduce Me (128) LoveMarc Lip GelMarc Jacobs Seduce Me (128) LoveMarc Lip Gel ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark berry red with a creamy, luminous finish. Urban Decay Catfight is warmer, redder. Urban Decay Venom is more berry-hued, darker. Tom Ford Violet Fatale is more purple. MAC Rebel is more matte, slightly less red. Guerlain Girly is slightly pinker. MAC Scan-delicious is pinker. See comparison swatches.

The formula is touted as “highly pigmented” with a “sleek, hydrating shine.” It’s also supposed to “gently [plump] with unique 3-D optical volumizers.” It’s very nearly opaque applied to lips, and it’s mostly opaque in a single pass at that, and the finish is certainly high-shine–it has a glossy shine. I didn’t feel any tingle or sign of lip plumping, and I couldn’t visually detect if my lips were really any larger than they were before, but the glossy finish did give the illusion of fuller lips. The consistency is thin, feels water-based so it has some slip and wetness to it, and creamy enough that it glided across lips without pulling or tugging. It was lightweight, lasted five hours when I wore it, and was somewhat hydrating while worn. The lipstick was vanilla-scented but has no discernible taste. This is the only shade I’ve tried, but I hope to try at least a few more to verify performance within the range.

Beautiful color! I wasn’t sure about it in the closeups, but it looks so great with your skintone. I think we have the same undertones (yellow?) so maybe it will work for me.

What a great shade! Reminds me of MAC Rebel (as you found as well) and OCC Lip Tar in Strumpet. Since I own both of those I’ll probably be able to steer clear of this, but it really is a killer colour! xo

That’s a beautiful shade, but I have to admit that I was distracted by that va-va-voom eye liner! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that one! (And incidentally, you have full, perfect lips already, so there’s really no way for a plumping formula to improve on them.)

Hi Christine –

Do you think the Marc Jacobs formulation is comparable to Buxom’s lipsticks? I’m addicted to my Buxom lipsticks since reading your reviews on them earlier this Summer. I wore Scoundrel today which is a lovely blue red lipstick.

It’s a thinner, more gel-like formula – you can definitely feel the difference on, and Buxom looks a bit heavier on in comparison (because they are creamy and opaque).

Packaging is absolutely beautiful! The pigmentation looks good and looks relatively moisturizing. But it’s always a trade off between long lasting and moisturizing. So I wonder how long does it last on the lips. 🙂

oohhhh this looks gorgeous on you 🙂 i think, however, i’m still more of a coral or rose pink girl. I may have passed the bright colour phase :/
