Marc Jacobs Beauty Edgitorial Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Edgitorial
Marc Jacobs Beauty Edgitorial Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.21 oz.) features seven shades with four different finishes (velvet, satin, silk and lamé). The eyeshadow formula is supposed to have “lasting, velvety-rich pigment.” The color combination was a mix of warmer and neutral shades from matte to intense metallic finishes. I found the palette to be easy to use overall to create a cohesive look with solely the shades included (I didn’t feel like I needed to look beyond it). A few shades could have been more pigmented, though they were typically buildable and with how deep two of them were, I suspect some will prefer them as buildable.
A few obvious differences between the new Eye-Conic palettes and the previous Style Eye-Con No. 7 palettes: they actually decreased by $10 in price (they used to be $59) with only a slight decrease in quantity (0.21 oz. vs. 0.25 oz.), and each eyeshadow has been named. The ingredient lists differ from shade to shade, which makes it harder to really compare easily, and I saw a lot of similar ingredients but order often varied; they seemed similar to me just by touching, wearing, and applying with maybe slightly higher dimethicone quantities in the shimmery shades and a slightly firmer press (but not stiff) for more matte shades (so less powder kicked up in the pan).

Take a Memo
Take a Memo is a soft light-medium beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation with a very velvety, silky texture that was somewhat powdery in the pan as a result. It was blendable on the lid and did not seem to cause colors to go gray (sometimes a result of a more white-based beige shade). It wore well for seven hours.

Next Season
Next Season is a bright, white gold with a strong, cooler white base and larger, golden sparkle and shimmer that gave it more of a metallic finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff with a moderately dense consistency that felt creamier in the pan. The texture was more noticeable by touch, but it applied smoothly to the lid and didn’t look patchy. It lasted well for seven and a half hours on me.

We'll See
We’ll See is medium brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had a silky, smooth texture that wasn’t too powdery or too firm in the pan, which made it easy to work with as it blended out beautifully but also adhered with true, opaque coverage in a single layer. The color started to fade on me after eight hours of wear.

Pleather Python
Pleather Python is a bright, medium-dark gold with strong, warm orange undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was denser and creamier, but it had larger sparkles in it, too, so I could see more people preferring to apply this with a dampened brush. I used it dry for testing purposes, and I found it to apply evenly but emphasize the texture on my lids. It had opaque coverage and lasted for eight hours on me.

Making a Scene
Making a Scene is a muted, medium-dark olive green with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted shimmer finish. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin. The consistency was soft, smooth, and not powdery nor too firmly pressed in the pan. This shade wore well for eight hours.

Enviously
Enviously is a subdued, deep green with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied more evenly and smoothly to the lid than I expected. It ended up being quite blendable, and when I worked with it in the crease, I did not even notice the lesser pigmentation. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Everywhere is a deep, blackened brown with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of greenish-gold pearl. The color coverage was buildable from semi-opaque to opaque coverage. The eyeshadow felt firmer in the pan, but it remained surprisingly blendable on the lid. This shade lasted for eight hours on me.

Very Pretty Palette. I don’t own any Marc Jacob yet.. I’m actually overwhelmed with all the new palettes that are coming out. lol.. I want it all. =)
Thanks for an amazing review as always.
There are a lot of choices!
I love earth tones, which seem less common. And now I’m drooling over these colors. <3
Glad you’re enjoying this one, Hapalife!
I absolutely love this one! Although I will *try* to talk myself out of it, because too much eyeshadow here. Thing is, it may be impossible as I love how nicely these shades go together. Plus; greens and golds!??
It’s permanent, so you can always check it out in store to double check! 🙂
Not to be an enabler, but I do see this as very you.
THIS is the one I’ll likely get (because, of course, I don’t already own almost all these shades, right???) I love the name and I love the colours but I do have to say that I honestly do NOT need another black eyeshadow….I know they are a fixture for a lot of people and a “must have” in a palette but I don’t use them that often and I must have 15 or 20 black eyeshadows.
I can’t wait for you to see this one, Mariella!
I like this sophisticated color combo! I can see this going easily from day-to-night eye looks
It is a nice set of shades – not your typical ones!
This is an interesting little gem of shades. I’m not sure the palette needed two very light shades (perhaps a peach would have been better) and the caramel brown looks out of place. The matte black is redundant. However the other shades are lovely.
It’s an interesting combo for sure!
The color story reminds me a lot of Mac She’s a Model x 9, just well, a bit better lol!
These aren’t my colors at all, but it’s refreshing to see something original that isn’t a bunch of reds and oranges.
