Makeup Geek Summer 2018 Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches

Blue My Mind

Makeup Geek Blue My Mind Foiled Eyeshadow ($10.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a rich, medium blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. The consistency was incredibly dense, slightly thick, and cream-like–a denser texture than most of their Foiled shades. It had opaque color coverage, and surprisingly, it applied well with a brush as well as fingertips, and it wasn’t a challenge to blend. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.

Ingredients

Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Magnesium Myristate, Boron Nitride, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tin Oxide (CI 77861)

Leafing So Soon

Makeup Geek Leafing So Soon Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light green with warm, golden shimmer and a frosted finish. It had sheer coverage with a drier, dustier texture that was hard to work with. I could only salvage this shade by applying it with a dampened brush and using four to five layers, and it always seemed to look a bit faded/less shimmery within a few minutes of application. After the initial application, it started to be more noticeably faded at the seven-hour mark.

Ingredients

Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Mica, Triethylhexanoin, Zinc Stearate, Boron Nitride, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288), Tin Oxide (CI 77861), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510)

Pink of Me

Makeup Geek Pink of Me Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good color coverage that was buildable to opaque coverage with two layers. The texture was drier and dusty in the pan with slight fallout during application. The eyeshadow stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Ingredients

Mica, Triethylhexanoin, Zinc Stearate, Calcium Aluminium Borosilicate, Silica, Boron Nitride, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carmine (CI 75470), FD&C Red No. 40 Lake (CI 16035), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)

Summer Lovin

Makeup Geek Summer Lovin Eyeshadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft consistency that just a touch dusty in the pan, but it blended out well and did not sheer out too readily. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me before I noticed signs of fading.

Ingredients

Mica, Zinc Stearate, Boron Nitride, Triethylhexanoin, Nylon 12, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Lauroyl Lysine, Ethylhexylglycerin, FD&C Yellow No 5 (CI 19140), Carmine (CI 75470), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), FD&C Red No. 40 Lake (CI 16035)

I love the color of Leafing So Soon and would have purchased in a heartbeat if even got a B rating but an F is just bad, really bad. Once again, you’ve saved me money, Christine. Sorry it was so horrible for you to use.
