Make Up For Ever #01 Pro Light Fusion Highlighter

Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion Highlighter ($39.00 for 0.30 oz.) is supposed to “naturally enhance and highlight” with a “silky-smooth” “ge-powder” formula. The powder has a soft, very lightly dusty texture that was smooth, blendable, and easy to work with on the skin as it diffused well and applied evenly. Both shades were pigmented, but they were controllable so one could use a lighter touch or a less dense brush for sheerer coverage. They both highlighted where they were applied without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture. Both shades lasted eight hours on me.

The formula is in the same type as MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish, Estee Lauder Illuminating Gelee, NARS Dual Intensity Blush, and so forth.

Make Up For Ever #01 Pro Light Fusion Highlighter ($39.00 for 0.30 oz.) is a very light pink with warm undertones and a luminous, lightly metallic finish. It was nicely pigmented with a soft, smooth, and lightly dusty texture that applied easily to the skin and did not emphasize my pores or natural texture. The highlighter wore well for eight hours before fading. Dior Pink Glow (002) (P, $50.00) is cooler (95% similar). Dior Pink Glow (02) (P, $50.00) is more shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever #02 Pro Light Fusion Highlighter ($39.00 for 0.30 oz.) is a bright, medium gold with warm, coppery-brown undertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was mostly opaque, while the consistency was soft, fairly smooth, and blendable. The product spread evenly across the skin and edges were easily diffused for a gradual blend. I did not find the finish emphasized my skin’s natural texture. It lasted for eight hours on me before starting to fade. Looxi Beauty Luxe (P, $7.50) is more shimmery (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Magic Star (LE, $45.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (95% similar). Sydney Grace Radiant Glow (P, $8.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). These are pretty but I feel like MUFE came late to the highlighter game. I like #2 (gold), but apparently I like it too much, as I already have 3 or 4 of the dupes listed!

Ooooh! I really like 01 and am sure it would work for my very pale skin. Bonus that it doesn’t highlight the texture of skin. I do have a few little texture issues!! I think MUFE manages to hit it out of the park more often than most cosmetic lines. They both look gorgeous on you although I have to say I like the 02 on your skin tone. Really gives you that glowing look without reading makeup.

Hi N,

You can compare any two shades using the Swatch Gallery > Compare Any Two. I’m terribly slow at replying to comments, so you can always get an answer faster that way 🙂

I think this was a bit of a catch-up for mufe. They are massively duped, but did they have a specifically named and targeted highlighter product that’s new? Maybe not, but everyone else did. Many of us are using their artist shadows for both h/l and contour, esp stuff like the crystallines with color instead of moonchild. sure these are pretty great, but really do not understand the target market. Who I see as the target market already has these up the wazoo. Bad grammar, but YKWIM.

Thanks 🙂 I think I’ll check this one out at my local Sephora — oddly, it’s the one inside JCPenney that’s carrying it — I’m not sure it’s different enough from highlighters that I already have to justify getting it, even if I do like it. At least the way I wear highlighters, which is pretty subtly. Yesterday at my local ULTA all the young SAs had visible stripes of shiny-ness on their cheekbones, some even had very visible stripes of dark, warm-ish contouring under their cheekbones. It’s definitely a look, but not mine!

I really love these highlighters. Glad they finally made individuals of them from the Pro Sculpting Duos. I thought they were very similar to Dior’s Diorskin Nude Air Glowing Gardens Illuminating Powders but I already own those so I think these are a great alternative for those who missed out on Dior’s.
