MAC Pearlglide Eyeliner
MAC x Toledos Pearlglide Eyeliners

MAC Chlorafill Pearlglide Eyeliner ($17.50 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “green line with pearl.” It’s a brightened, chartreuse green that leans yellow with very subtle gold sparkle. The sparkle is more of a smattering than a really glittery finish–I almost didn’t notice it initially–especially in comparison to other shades in the Pearlglide formula. It had decent pigmentation in a single stroke, but the consistency has some slip, so it tends to look streaky when applied. It benefits greatly from taking a pencil brush and using it to smudge and blend the eyeliner into place. On me, it wore well for eight and a half hours before fading. MAC Sourpuss (P, $16.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Designer Purple Pearlglide Eyeliner ($17.50 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “iridescent violet.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark violet purple with cool undertones and purple sparkle and micro-glitter. It had so-so pigmentation in one pass, but it was buildable to mostly opaque color coverage. It wears eight and a half hours on me with some glitter migration over time. Urban Decay Voodoo (LE, $19.00) is less sparkly. Marc Jacobs Beauty (Plum)age (60) (P, $25.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Vice (P, $19.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Psychedelic Sister (P, $19.00) is less sparkly. Milani Perfect Purple (P, $6.99) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide Eyeliner ($17.50 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “deep navy with pearl.” It’s a deepened navy blue with a blackened blue base and lighter blue sparkle. It had decent pigmentation in one pass, which was buildable to nearly opaque color with two layers. The eyeliner glided on easily and wore well for eight and a half hours. I had slight migration of the glittery bits with this shade, but it was less than what I had with Designer Purple. Urban Decay Sabbath (P, $19.00) is less sparkly, more muted. NARS Rue Saint-Honore (P, $24.00) is less sparkly. See comparison swatches

These are pretty. But, here.lie the blushes,I think a bot over priced for what they are. i have pretty good luck with Sephora and Loreal pencils with are $10 or less and are not LE. I like the green because it’s the most unique. but the ratings take it off my list. overall..a pass.

I know! I already called my favorite SA at my local Mac at Nordstrom. I wanted to have her hold onto a Viva Glam set for me and told her to get ready to take a list from this collection! My poor wallet is weeping..man , Spring is big. Does this ever end for you? Is it going to roll right into summer, fall,holiday,etc..or will you get a break? ..and my wallet, lol!

Thanks, Christine. I did not know that it’s permanent. So, there is need to rush (laughs).
Btw, do you know if the regular version has the same quality like this? You know, MAC is a highly inconsistent brand.
I thank you in advance for your reply.

sorry… Grrrrrrrrrr
So, there is NO need to rush (laughs).

(Definitely, not my day. You don’t deserve an inattentive reader like me). xoxo

Chartreuse must be a hard colour to manufacture because there are very few on the market in eyeliners. I went back to see what the rating was on the Sourpuss because the B- looked bad on Chlorafill. I like that Chlorafill is more green.

I was also considering getting the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Matic in Iridescent Lime Green I-30 but it still reads more yellow to me (and is $25CAN)

But Petrol Blue and Designer Purple Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner are permament shades. It’s listed on both the US and Canadian sites.

L’Oréal even did one about 15-20 years ago, and it was amazing! It was in their permanent range for years, too. If a DS brand could do one so well, I don’t see how difficult it would be to manufacture…

Designer Purple is pretty, but I never end up wearing “colored” eyeliner, and they just sit in a bin… I have a perfectly good KvD purple liner I bought on clearance a couple of years ago, and it still has the shrinkwrap on it, LOL!

Some days it seems like it takes too much thought, LOL! I buy them because they’re sooo pretty, but I don’t even open them since I don’t want them to go bad. I actually have an empty baby wipes container filled with liners that I don’t wear & backups, all brand-new, which I should pull out this weekend! Maybe I’ll start with 2-3, and put them with my stash I have in regular rotation…

I get a similar look (not exactly) to Chlorafill with Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Green Glow, on my lower lash line so I’ll be skipping that! I love love love the Pearlglide formula, I kinda wish they’d launched an emerald green with gold sparkle instead – I would have been REALLY tempted by that!

Designer Purple is really calling to me because of the cool undertones (surprisingly hard to find in a purple eyeliner), and Petrol Blue because of the abundance of sparkle — most navy eyeliners are nowhere near as sparkly! I have yet to find a way to make light yellow-greens play well with my very cool undertones, but it’s great to see bright and unusual colors coming out, even if I can’t see myself wearing all of them. I’m really liking the packaging on these, too, with Chorafill unfortunately being my favorite!
