MAC No Faux Pas Lipstick
MAC No Faux Pas Lipstick

MAC No Faux Pas Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “yellow hot pink [with a Matte finish].” It’s a brightened, medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertonews and a mostly matte finish. It had intense, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. The texture has a slightly thicker, velvety consistency that is heavier (but not truly heavy!) and minimizes the look of lines on the lips. It wears for six and a half hours and leaves a stain behind but is neither drying nor hydrating. This shade was released previously (just this past October). MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus (LE, $16.00) is lighter, less matte. Chanel La Romanesque (50) (P, $34.00) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Cooper (LE, $32.00) is darker, more muted. Bite Beauty Framboise (P, $24.00) is darker. MAC Good Kisser (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Velvet Underground (P, $32.00) is similar. Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) (P, $36.00) is darker. MAC Girl About Town (P, $16.00) is darker, more muted. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

MAC Cardinal Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “yellow burgundy red [with a Satin finish].” It’s a meidum-dark red with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satiny sheen. It had mostly opaque coverage that applied evenly. On me, this shade wore well for five and a half hours but was lightly drying over time. In my MAC spreadsheet, I have this shade listed as a previously released shade, but I can’t recall where from (I couldn’t find a previous review for it). MAC Maria Moretti (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned, lighter. MAC Audacious (P, $23.00) is similar. MAC Stunner (LE, $16.00) is more matte. Bite Beauty Fraise (P, $24.00) is more matte, brighter. MAC Evening Posh (LE, $16.00) is slightly more muted. NARS Deadly Catch (LE, $26.00) is similar. Guerlain Rouge Parade (820) (LE, $51.00) is brighter. MAC Dangerously Chic (P, $23.00) is darker. MAC Oblivion (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace (LE, $22.00) is darker. MAC True Love’s Kiss (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Estee Lauder Vengeful Red (P, $30.00) is similar. Bite Beauty Rioja (P, $28.00) is similar. Bite Beauty Pomegranate (P, $24.00) is similar. Givenchy Grenat Initie (307) (P, $36.00) is glossier. Maybelline On Fire Red (P, $7.49) is lighter, glossier. MAC Eden Rouge (LE, $16.00) is warmer. MAC Red Racer (LE, $16.00) is similar. MAC MAC Red (P, $16.00) is more matte, cooler-toned. Guerlain Greta (P, $51.00) is cooler-toned. Guerlain Gala (P, $51.00) is lighter. Buxom Provocateur (P, $21.00) is similar. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

MAC Hollywood Cerise Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “magenta berry [with a Satin finish].” It’s a muted, fuchsia-berry with cool undertones and a satin sheen. It had nearly opaque coverage that went on with smooth, even color. It was comfortable to wear as it was neither drying nor hydrating over the five hours it lasted. Bite Beauty #002 (LE, $36.00) is more muted, less fuchsia. Tom Ford Beauty Cooper (LE, $32.00) is brighter. MAC Ultramarine Pink (LE, $30.00) is cooler-toned. Bite Beauty Framboise (P, $24.00) is brighter. MAC Catharina (P, $23.00) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Pure Pink (P, $50.00) is brighter. Tom Ford Beauty Violet Fatale (P, $50.00) is more shimmery, darker. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I’m glad these all did well! Hmm.. I will have to think about it. I have 2-3 of the dupes for the first two. One for Hollywood Cerise which was the one I had my eye one from the get go. These are all pretty easily dupable and I need none. But, If I have to pick one, Ill get the last. But, the more I look at them I really feel like I have these colors so much in my stash already.I am really glad you did these reviews so quick. YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR! LOL!..Hmm..decisions,decisions!

I usually find the flood of red lipsticks on the market so boring, “Oh another red lipstick, yawn”. But cardinal wows me! Red lipstick isn’t even flattering on me, and I’m tempted to buy this just for dress up in the privacy of my room.

MAC Cardinal is so gorgeous, I know this shades been done before many times, but it is a dupe for much more expensive lippies. And I wasn’t interested in MAC Cerise, but after seeing your swatches, I might pick that up. Have been looking for a fuchsia berry that doesn’t look too bright or neon.

I’m happy to see No Faux Pas is a dupe for Viva Glam Miley. While I love the shade of Viva Glam Miley, I’ve personally was disappointed by the performance, there was much coverage/pigmentation on my lips. Then again, I don’t usually have luck w amplified finish. Would you say that the texture of this matte is similar to those of the Toledo Collection?
I like Cardinal and love the name but I might skip this one and go for Mia Moretti instead.
And I’m loving Cerise. Haven’t got a shade like this in my collection and I love Satins 😀
Thanks for the review!

Looks like a home-run here! All well performing and gorgeous, which is great. Although, weirdly, two of them look really similar, not just to eachother, but also two lippys I’ve been trying to pick from as well! Catharina or Viva Glam Miley….just strange that they’d do that.

I’m a bit shocked that the site didn’t sell out like I had anticipated. I saw & read about all of the dupes you listed. Maybe this shade may be more dupeable? In any case, seeing it on you made me buy it. Gorgeous! And I absolutely LOVE your blog!

Was there anything special about the packaging they came in? I’m a milliner so I guess I’m going to pick something up, but I’m a bit disappointed the the packaging design isn’t bolder considering his avant garde designs…

The only thing I wanted was Hollywood Cerise. I wanted a new pink for spring. I’m glad the collection wasn’t in special packaging. This will probably mean everyone has time to get what they want.

Damn.. I wasn’t planning buying another MAC lipstick. But your positive remarks made me buy Hollywood Cerise… I have anought pinks..! Haha
😀
Thanks for all the testing and telling us what you think. Otherwise I would have bought one of the highlighters, but now I now I shouldn’t do that.
