MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick
MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick

MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “hot pink [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia pink with subtle cool, blue undertones and a satiny sheen. Chanel La Romanesque (50) (P, $34.00) is more matte, darker. Tom Ford Beauty Cooper (LE, $32.00) is darker. MAC Ultramarine Pink (LE, $30.00) is cooler-toned, darker. Lipstick Queen Play It (P, $50.00) is redder. Bite Beauty Framboise (P, $24.00) is slightly cooler-toned. MAC No Faux Pas (LE, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Catharina (P, $23.00) is slightly darker. MAC Good Kisser (LE, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Red Balloon (LE, $16.00) is a touch warmer. Estee Lauder Dominant (P, $30.00) is cooler-toned. Marc Jacobs Beauty Roll the Dice (118) (P, $30.00) is warmer. Milani Hot Pink Rage (P, $5.49) is lighter. MAC Girl About Town (P, $16.00) is darker, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It had nearly full color coverage with a creamy, lightly emollient consistency that glided on easily but still stayed in place. The color lasted for almost six hours, was slightly hydrating, and left a pinky-red stain behind. The formula seemed to have more slip than the average Amplified to me, but it didn’t slide around or feel like a major departure from the formula on average. Though it is well-done, this type of shade has been a favorite for MAC to release in the past year, so I hope it will do well and help raise funds for the MAC AIDS Fund, but it was surprisingly dupable.

It’s ridiculously close to Catharina. And honestly, with my pigmented lips, my Girl About Town could dupe this too. With all that said, I’m still purchasing it…lol

I’ve probably collected a handful of colors that are similar to this lipstick, but it still doesn’t hurt to go to the store and pick up considering that it’s for a great cause!

Very, very pretty. I am glad the reviews came out so well. Despite Miley not being my favorite celeb person, I think this is a great cause and concept. Who wouldn’t want to donate to charity, boost your karma, and get A rating products. I will probably get the lipstick or both. I am sure I have many dupes. But, that’s ok with me. Thanks for the review!

MAC’s Viva Glam is one of the best charitable campaigns I’ve come across (especially in beauty) – so many give undisclosed % of proceeds.

Holy moly! I just read the post announcing this product. I had no idea 100% of the proceeds go to Aids charities?! That is very stand up of them..I am very impressed with that. Every brand should do something like this.

Same here. I really really REALLY dislike Miley Cirus, but it is for a good cause and the color is actually pretty so I think I will get the lipstick and do my best to ignore the name, lol

It is really pretty with the lipglass over it! But with regards to the lipstick color itself, I do have Girl About Town and it does seem rather dupeable.

Hi Christine! You look gorgeous with this color. Question: Is this color similar to Rihanna’s Mac Pleasure Bomb? I wear my lipstick so much that its running out and im so sad about it .

I do love this shade, and the cause, but yes you are right, too dupeable to want to rush on this too badly! I do love a good amplified, though.

I NEED this! It’s such a pretty color and the quality sounds great! I always buy Viva Glam anyways, but it’s nice that it’s a color that doesn’t go directly to my kit.

This shade is gorgeous, too bad it seems to be similar to Givenchy’s Fuchsia Irresistible, which I already own… They should’ve added some green shimmer (like my beloved Lollipop Loving), so it would be more unique…

We’ve definitely seen this color a million times from MAC lol. But I’m still going to support the cause. I’m a sucker for pink lippies and this is like getting one free for donating to charity.

This looks amazing! It looks so good on you! I really didn’t think much of it at first, but seeing it on someone has completely changed my mind.

I’m glad to hear that it performs so well, especially given the cause! πŸ™‚ I did think it would prove kind of dupeable though. It does look lovely with the sparkly gloss on top…

I think that can be an issue if you do a more basic color (like fuchsia) and keep it satin/matte. Shimmer and whatnot can differentiate it more!

Do you have any information on Christian louboutin lipsticks? The lab I work at has gotten some to process but I dint see any info online.

Nope, no info! I’m not in communication with Louboutin corporate/press, but I think the brand always planned to roll out more products in the future and lipsticks would probably be the next step.

Two great reasons for me to buy this one then! A very lovely Amplified shade ( LOVE Amplifieds!), and that ALL proceeds go to the Viva Glam cause!

Surprisingly, I don’t have anything similar, so I will definitely be getting this lipstick. I love the shade. Still debating on the lipglass.

I really like this colour! I probably have a dupe but I can’t see anything I own in the swatch gallery. I may have to get this! The gloss is pretty over the lipstick but it’s not much on its own. I have a few sparkly lipglosses that would look nice over the top of it too. This kind of colour is right up my street.

Aside from that, you look gorgeous with your hair down! πŸ™‚

By memory, I think Isabella Blow was much more matte? Wasn’t that a retro matte? I don’t know that I have that one (or ever had it…), but I can’t remember for sure.

That color looks so good on you, Christine! It’s not a shade I’d wear though, bright pinks like that look awful on me.

In spite of good causes, there are just certain celebs I would not endorse by buying things with their name on it. I am more likely to make a direct purchase to an AIDS charity in my province than to purchase this lipstick.

This is like a cooler version of MAC Gulabi (Mickey Contractor’s collection, not sure if you remember), which is one of my favourite lipsticks of all time. Bonus is the feel good factor of all proceeds going to charity! YAY!! Thanks for the swatch & review C!

OK, I had ZERO interest in this because of who the spokesperson is, but if I was able to overlook Rihanna, I might be able to overlook Miley. The colors look gorgeous on you. Sadly, if I decide to buy, it’ll have to be in February since I already bought my 1 makeup item this month. very pretty though!

I love the amplified formula and I don’t own any similar shades right now. I’ve been wearing Cosmo way too much lately. I think I’ll get this one. Great cause too!

Count me in .. just to spite 4 of the mentioned dupes already in my stash.. they can make room and make friends with that purdy lip gloss too. I love shades like this in spring and summer.. a swipe of cream shadow and a lip like this. Perfect and easy. You look fabulous BTW.

I don’t like that it’s so close to colors like Girl About Town but at the same time it is nice to have a more universally wearable color for limited Viva Glam lipsticks. It’ll definitely be on my list because of the charity alone! πŸ™‚

I wish this was matte, because I think on me it will be similar to Urban Decay Anarchy. Still for sure buying the lipglass though, so much sparkle!

Ooh, pretty! Awesome color for an even greater cause. I’m almost running out of GAT, so this definitely needs to go in my to-buy list!

One question though – Christine, how does it compare to MAC Impassioned?

Christine, I just wanted to let you know that from your posts and comments here, I realized just how generous Mac is with Viva Glam..I don’t know how, but I had no idea it was 100% of the selling price that went to benefit victims and families struggling with AIDs. I had to check out the rest of the collection. I just ordered Viva Glam Rhianna (not sure on the #-the red one) lipstick and lipglass. I’d like to go back and build a collection of them..why not..I can use all the good karma I can get.I like the other Rhianna one Brownish/mauve. It’s a total throwback to my hs days..love it!..the review is not glowing though and not sure on the wearability for me.But, heck,I’d rock it anyway at least on occasion. Any idea on a lipliner for that and it that may help? It does look great in your photos. But, I really don’t belive I have seen you do anything not look great! I truly believe everyone should give back in every way they can. Can you imagine if everyone and every company actually did..even just a little?…. Hats off to Mac for this. I realize I am late on the wagon here. But,better late than never.

I like the lipstick quite a bit, much more than the gloss. The color is right up my alley, although I already have a ton of hot, bright pinks.

That said, I will not be purchasing this due to the spokesperson MAC chose. I prefer to just give the money directly to the MAC AIDS fund rather than pick this up. The charity still gets the money and I do not have to feel unhappy about owning something. Win win. πŸ™‚

The shade looks absolutely gorgeous on you.. and with that lip gloss on top.. It is full on glamorous.. πŸ˜‰

You look beautiful <3

I can never have enough hot pick lipstick, and since it’s a Viva Glam, I’ll definitely be getting it! Probably the gloss, too. They’re so pretty together!

I already have Estee Lauder Dominant, but this looks to me like it might be slightly less intense and therefore more wearable for me for every day. Dominant is gorgeous, but it makes every other pink or purple thing I have on (like a top, a color in a print scarf, or even a bead on a hairstick) kind of stand up and shout out at everyone passing by, so I have to be very careful what I wear it with. I was thinking of trying Bite Beauty Framboise, because I find that formula so comfortable, but this one looks a bit less red/intense than either Dominant or Framboise… what do you think?

I like that it’s an Amplified, I tried some amplifieds on, they feel divine. Miley chose well. I already have some fuchsia lip products that I rarely use so idk if I’ll get it :)) it’d be cool if they do a marsala-like viva glam lippie. I have an old avon lippie that is kinda like the sephora one and i want a new lipstick as a dupe, but not a drying one :)) and not too expensive. 25$ for mac is already a lot πŸ˜€

Lovely lipstick! But I don’t think I will get this one, since it’s almost the same colour as No Faux Pas. I was hoping this one would be a little bit different. πŸ™

Man this makes me so excited! I love the viva glam charity, so glad it came out as an A. This has to be my favourite celeb viva glam in a while.

It doesn’t even matter what the colour is, I ALWAYS buy the Viva Glam lipsticks. Such a great cause and I think only one or two have looked horrid on me (side eyeing VG Nicki 2)

On my screen it looks like Impassioned and I don’t really wear it (it was my second MAC lipstick, the first being my beloved and already repurchased Pink Nouveau) but as I’m already buying this and the lipgloss for my niece (she looooves Miley Cyrus), I’m going to give it a try, too. I mean, charity and lipstick, this doesn’t go against my no-buy! It CAN’T go against my no-buy, it’s the law, and I have to obey the law and donate. That’s how it works, of course.

Hellllllloooooo! Compared to some of the recent celebrity ones, I’m really liking this one. Others I’ve purchased in the past, I ended up giving away.

I was wondering how it compared to MAC Impassioned lipstick because it looks like it might be quite similar?
I really want to get it but I’m on a no-buy and if I have something similar then it won’t be so heartbreaking

I just bought this and I adore it! I don’t find that the sparkles are very noticeable once applied which I like. I’m very fair with slight yellow undertones (I wear NC15) and I’ve had a hard time finding a hot pink that’s not too cool toned. This one is definitely a more neutral pink, in person it almost looked slightly warm to me, and it’s the perfect depth (not too dark or too light).

It applies opaquely but not intimidatingly so, so that it’s very wearable and I don’t look like a clown. It also looks really nice blotted on tissue paper, which makes it almost look like a lip stain. I can definitely see myself wearing this as a quick “pick me up” on mornings when I’m feeling very dreary or sad! πŸ™‚

If you scroll down on the Mac website page for the VG MC, it says “get the look” and shows the prolong wear lipliner in “shock value”.
Hope this helps πŸ™‚

I am happy to say that I purchased this and the lip glass yesterday. Yessss, I have girl about town and maybe one more similar but the cause and the quality have won me over. GAT is darker tho πŸ˜‰

Such a great color! However would it look too strange on Indian skin? I really want to get this one, any help if it would suit? My skin tone is kind of wheatish.

So I REALLY love this colour, but I’m a little hesitant because I’m a little on the medium skin tone side? Thoughts? Because I’m looking for a bright color, and the brightest I have at the moment is MAC’s Relentlessly Red which really suits me!!

I just came across your page and I love it! It’s very genius in the way that you compare it to other products! Anyhow I’ve JUST jumped on the Mac bandwagon recently and I’ve purchased a lot of the best sellers, and now I’m waiting on Rihanna’s new Viva Glam set and Miley’s set. I actually debated buying Miley’s set for two days bc I dislike her intensely, to put it nicely. But anyhow today is Saturday and the sets arrive Monday. I’m so excited for both esp now that I’ve seen your swatches. I also had a question for you; I love makeup esp lip products so much that I end up tweeting selfies with the hashtag (example) # Eros by NYX or # Church aka excuse to wear makeup # Clinique in black honey. So how does one start a blog or whatever to where ppl will take notice and care, so I’m not sending out tweets no one cares about. If makeup was my job, I’d be a billionaire. Ok thanks for reading. Again LOVE your site. πŸ™‚ Amanda.
