MAC Tropical, Soiree, Quick Million Studio Studio Nail Lacquers
MAC Tropical Studio Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “black with rainbow multi-pearl [with a Glitter finish].” It has a sheer, black-tinted base with small-sized light orange and orange-copper glitter (no rainbow glitter–wondering if the description is wrong). After two coats, it was mostly opaque, as the formula spread evenly across the nail–didn’t have to play with the glittery bits to get them into place. It dried down to a slightly bumpy/textured finish, but a layer of top coat will smooth it out without having to apply multiple coats. Cult Nails Blaze (DC, $12.00) is smaller in size and is a top coat so it looks somewhat similar if it is layered over black. China Glaze Electrify (LE, $7.50) has larger glitter in a clear base.See comparison swatches / view dupes.
MAC Soiree Studio Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “sparkly light bronze gold [with a Pearl finish].” It’s a light-medium, warm-toned peachy beige with fine threads of metallic shimmer. It had opaque color coverage after two coats. The consistency was slightly thick but manageable without any major impact on application. It dried down to a lightly shiny finish. There were very slightly visible brush strokes, but only from certain angles. L’Oreal The Statement Piece (LE, $6.99) is lighter, yellower. Zoya Tomoko (P, $9.00) is lighter, yellower. MAC Shimmerfish (LE, $17.50) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
MAC Quick Million Studio Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “gold glitter with large particle pink glitter [with a Glitter finish].” It has fine white gold shimmer and pearl with larger chunks of pink glitter. Some of the pink glitter ends up looking gold due to the other shimmer in the base. The consistency was slightly thicker, but the glitters spread fairly well without a lot of work. If you don’t like textured or bumpy nails, though, this one is noticeably chunky when it dries down. Even with two layers of top coat, it still felt a bit textured. It had semi-opaque color coverage after two coats. I’m not sure of a dupe for this one, so I’d love to hear your suggestions!

The dupe for Quick Million is Maybelline’s Brocades: Knitted Gold. Definitely! But it was a limited edition I think.
Thank you!
Quick Million would probably do well in a nail art.
I could see that!
Maybelline Guilded Rose is a cheaper, better formulated and prettier version of quick million studio!
Thanks for sharing!
I do not mind Soiree, but I did layered glittery textured polish to death a couple of years ago and just like overdoing anything, it now looks clunky to me. I feel this part of the collection is behind the curve. I’m loving some of the creams in the collection though.
It lacks some creativity I think!
I can think of two dupes for Quick Million – A-England She Walks in Beauty (from the Heavenly Quotes section) and one of the limited edition Maybelline Colour Show Brocades, Knitted Gold.
Yay! Thanks Polly!
I was about to suggest A England’s “She Walks in Beauty” too!
It’s a fabulous color. All of A England’s polishes have a pretty fantastic formula to be honest. I just wish it was sold in stores.
I concur about A England. It’s easily my favourite brand of nail polish, with a formulation that is pretty much perfect, and She Walks in Beauty is superb.
Glitter! I just love glitter polish lol. Tropical is so beautiful! It’ll look great paired with Only in Florida
That would be an interesting combo!
A good dupe for quick million with a WAAAY better formula is love chemistry from the formula x line at sephora!!
I will have to try!
I was about to comment with this, i have that color, its so pretty!
I think Quick Million is make a beautiful top coat with some dark colors nail polish
It could work!
Quick Million looks kinda like A-Englands She Walks In Beauty!
Thank you, Lojs!
They all look very pretty on ( and thanks for the swatches as always) but I haven’t seen anything similar to Mac tropical yet! The other two are very dupeable. These new colours supposedly have an amazing formulation – have you found that difference from the older Mac nailcolours?
The formula seems better, but for me, the biggest difference is the brush!
None of these really grabs me, somehow… i like Quick Million, but even then it kind of looks a bit chunky from certain angles. (*hops on the nitpick train* LOL!)
It is definitely a chunkier glitter!
I really love how Tropical looks! such a unique one I think, atleast havent seen something like that around, I loev the effect that Quick million gives, although I have no idea if I could carry such a thing off!
I feel like Quick Million looks similar to Love Chemistry by Formula X but I could be wrong!
Sounds like a dupe!
yes it’s the perfect dupe!! I’ve got it and this is identical!!
I like soiree. The last one had too chunky a glitter for me.
You definitely have to love that kind of look for Quick Million!
None of these are specially unique, but I like how well they’re done, especially Soiree. And the new price is wonderful. 🙂
Hopefully they’ll add some more unique shades to the range!
I love how girly Quick Million looks in the bottle, too bad the pink barely shows up on the nail. Thanks to everyone for the dupe suggestions. I’m not familiar with A-England, does anyone know where you can buy it in the US? I may go for the Sephora Formula X, I did a google image search and everyone is right, both of those look like what I thought Quick Million would be. <3
Hopefully someone can help you re: A-England!
If you look on the a-England website, there is a button (from memory, bottom left of home page, but I’m not 100% sure) which will tell you who their international distributors are (they are no longer able to ship directly out of the UK since Royal Mail changed the rules about shipping nail polish.) They are definitely worth looking into – fabulous formula and some lovely colours 🙂
Ehh, not really feeling any of them!
They’re definitely not the type of texture that would work for everyone!
Quick Million looks similar to Finger Paints Go Baroque!
Thanks for the rec, Leah!
I was thinking of this as well as She Walks in Beauty (I have both). What I want more than anything are those amazing nails!
I wanted to like Quick Million when I saw it in the bottle but I just don’t like it on the nail!
Aww!
Soiree Studio is so pretty! The others are nice too, but I always dread glitter polish removal so I don’t tend to use those too much.
I totally understand!
Milani’s Golden Romance is a prettier version of Quick Million
Thanks, Denise!
Ciate Antique Brooch is similar to quick million
Thank you!
I know a lot of people has said it before but Gilded Rose is the perfect dupe for Quick Million. Gilded Rose was LE but now is permanent. To me they look pretty much identical, today at a MAC counter I saw QM and I can asure you all, they are almost 100% the same.
