MAC Tour de Fabulous – Lipglasses

MAC Tour de Fabulous includes several limited edition shades of MAC Lipglass ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.), and this post features these shades: Rich & Witty (neutral dirty pinked beige), Rich Bounty (deep red-brown with pearl), Style Packed (bright, vivid fuchsia), and Tour de Fabulous (clean/bright yellow pink with pearl).

  • Rich & Witty is a darkened peach with soft warm white shimmer. It’s much darker and has much less pink compared to It’s a Wow. The color coverage is opaque and very even. It’s similar to MAC Orange Tempera but with shimmer.
  • Rich Bounty is a rusted red with an orange-copper shimmer. This shade had good color payoff, but it applied a bit unevenly, and it was the hardest to apply of the ones I’ve tried so far. It reminded me of Chantecaille Glaze, which also had unevenness issues.
  • Style Packed is a brightened fuchsia-magenta with a creamy finish. It’s bright but doesn’t read quite neon on lips. The color coverage is pretty much opaque. It’s very, very blue-based, so it is a cool-toned shade. MAC Athena’s Kiss is pinker and darker. MAC Sassy Lassy and MAC True Babe are pinker.
  • Tour de Fabulous is a white-shimmered pink-coral with mostly opaque color coverage and an even application. MAC Strange Potion is a little less pink. Chanel Confidence is fairly similar but a little pinker.

Lipglass is a tacky, thick product that tends to wear longer than the average lipgloss because of that thicker, tackier texture. It seems to be a formula that readers either love or avoid with little middle ground! These are definitely some of the best performing Lipglasses I’ve come across in the past year or longer. They apply evenly, and if you’re a fan of opaque color, you’ll get that, too!

Style Packed is gorgeous! I wanted both Sassy Lassy and Athena’s Kiss, but since Sassy Lassy was in a set and Athena’s Kiss was huge, I skipped out. Style Packed is definitely on my list!

Why did they not release these as glamglass if they had already shipped them to stores for launch? that seems entirely too impractical. I wonder if you can get them discounted at ACW

Christine Avatar

I don’t think Glamglass was ever shipped to stores – from my understanding, they had some issue back when these were originally supposed to launch, so they postponed the launch until December. I have no idea when the change from Glamglass to Lipglass was made during that period, but I don’t think Glamglass made it into normal production. The one I have is an early press sample! MAC makes smaller test batches before launching full-scale production of products, which is often when the sample pieces are made!

“Style Packed” reminds me of their “Pink Poodle” shade. Its a shame though that the quality of customer service has gone down big time or else I would pick this up but after having one too many bad experiences dealing with rude MAC artists….

Christine Avatar

Much, much bluer – I would not say they’re similar other than they both have some form of pink in them! 🙂

I recommend letting MAC customer service know about your experience. My local store, four or five years ago, used to be notorious for their service, but eventually, there was nearly a 100% turnover in employees – and now it’s an amazing store.

That’s funny- I’ve onlyyy had bad experiences where I buy MAC in Seattle, but its at Nordstrom. Everything from laughable things like a woman telling me I need to wear lip color that counteracts the color of my eyes because they are “too blue”, to last weekend when I opened the snowglobe powder tester and two tiny clumps fell onto the floor (all that was left of the product) and the employee next to me snapped “making a mess are we” -I laughed because I assumed she was joking and I said “well, I guess I can’t anymore since the compact is empty!”- she just ignored me and I had to ask where I should throw away the powder clumps. because she was too busy wiping the counter and clearly wasn’t going to get a new tester out. I decided to not bothering asking and just wandered away. Its kinda funny because I’m not the type who cares much about customer service- I don’t expect people to be gushingly nice or attentive- just, you know, not passive aggressive or snappy :p

I had a bad experience with Mac’s customer service too before. She would not acknowledge my presence but acknowledged everyone else. Even when the other two customers left she still did not acknowledge me. Funny because I was the only one that spent money in the store and everyone else left without buying anything. I let her boss know how I felt too. Just had to share my story.

Marina Avatar

I know the feeling. I’m on the younger side (14) and the ladies always tend to other people who walk in- even when I’ve been waiting! They’re also rather rude. Sometimes it’s frustrating… thank goodness I have 3 MACs in my area.

I have 8 MAC’s within my city and I really think it depends on the sales associate them self. I go to MAC quite often and always buy a lot of stuff and some of them are really rude even after you spend hundreds which is extremely disappointing to see in a big company like MAC; but some of the workers remember me at most locations and are really nice.

I haven’t been back to my MAC in a couple months. Last time was just the LIMIT. I ended up the only customer with 4 MAC artists ignoring me and being snitty, snapping at me and giving me dirty looks. One of them is a manager so I give up. I had returned a Let’s Skate paintpot because whatever the glitter was in it gave me the worst allergic reaction I’ve ever had. In retaliation, the manager refused to sell me the holiday pigment set the other crew had specially put on hold for me. She then decided she would sell it to me if I would test samples of every color in it for an allergic reaction, in spite of me telling her I have a large MAC pigment collection and have had no allergies to them. Then she seemed to forget what she was doing and refused to sample out all 4 colors insinuating that I was trying to mooch free samples. So she wouldn’t sell it ’til I sampled it but would only sample 2 out of 4 shades. End result? I didn’t get it or anything else. The other crew is nice but I can’t drive all the way over there just to see who’s working. I’ve complained but it back-fired. Can I complain higher up the chain?
