MAC Touch of Red Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Touch of Red Nail Lacquer

MAC Hey, Sailor: Touch of Red Nail Lacquer

MAC Touch of Red Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright yellow red.” This is a brightened medium red with pinky undertones–it doesn’t really look like a yellow-based red on me. It looks just slightly blue-based against my warmer skin tone. MAC Russian Red is a little darker. China Glaze Poinsettia is brighter. Zoya Sooki seems very similar. Butter London Pillar Box Red is a bit darker. China Glaze Hey Sailor is quite similar.

The formula of Touch of Red had an excellent consistency that was thin but not watery; it applied without streaking, but it wasn’t completely opaque after two coats–though it is certainly close. It’s only at certain angles and lighting situations where you can see the white of the nail line. It flowed easily across the nail without bubbling or pooling along the sides.  I don’t have any issues with MAC’s lacquer formula as far as wear goes; I get a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping.

this is actually the only product i bought from this LE. It might not be the most exciting and very dupe-able but I really love it! it’s the perfect red for me 🙂

@t_zwiggy actually, it’s kinda hard to find yellow based reds that don;t cross the line into orange. it’s a subtle balance and not very common even if it seems at first like any old red.

@xamyx i was thinking the same, especially in the brush picture, it looks like the same sheerness and yellow-tone. and $2 instead of $17! even if you need to top it with an essie clearcoat for good finish, it’s still only $10 total. expensive “fashion” nail polish tries my patience.

I have CG Hey sailor so I’m skipping this one 🙂 But really really love it! A beautiful red nail polish is like a black dress…everyone should have one and goes well in every occasion!

It’s nice, but it looks a bit yellow red for me.
I’m nc20 and find the few yellow reds or cherry reds I’ve tried lipstick wise
look clownish on me. Blue, pink, and brown based reds work .
Orange reds are ok.
I know off topic. Thanks for searching it 🙂
