MAC Too Cool for Pool & Would Rather Lounge Lipglasses Reviews & Swatches
Too Cool for Pool
MAC Too Cool for Pool Lipglass ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium-dark coral-red with moderate, warm undertones and light gold pearl throughout. It had semi-sheer color coverage that could have applied a bit more evenly, though it didn’t look so bad from a normal viewing distance.
The texture was light-medium in thickness, moderately tacky, but it didn’t feel heavy or glue-like on my lips. It wore well for four and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$21.00/0.1 oz. - $210.00 Per Ounce
The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.
I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

Would Rather Lounge
MAC Would Rather Lounge Lipglass ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark copper-brown with moderate, warm undertones and pink and gold pearl suspended in a cream base. The texture felt light-medium in thickness without being heavy, but it was moderately tacky, which is typical of the brand’s gloss but not as common in most glosses these days.
It had semi-opaque color payoff that applied fairly evenly, and the high-shine helped distract from the imperfections in application. It stayed on well for four and a half hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

Just placed an order with MAC, and Would Rather Lounge Lipglass is part of it. I absolutely love the rich, glowy, coppery tone and full coverage of this one!
On the other hand, Too Cool For Pool reminds me more of a ColourPop lipgloss. Just nothing “wow” worthy.
And I ordered Too Cool for Pool, Cannes lipstick along with the bronze Fix+ from MAC yesterday. Should have waited for the review! I always fall for the coral/orange lip colors.
Christine,
Are you familiar with Venetian lip glass, came out around 05? I was wondering if Too Cool for Pool was similar. Thanks so much!
Too far back for me to recall with any real clarity, sorry!
