MAC Me Over: Take Root Cream Colour Base
MAC Take Root Cream Colour Base ($17.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “rich red brown.” It’s a red-toned brown with a hint of warmth, and while it’s opaque and nicely pigmented, it’s not as dark as it looks in the pan. There is a soft, frosted finish that’s not too heavy-handed. The color is similar to MAC Brown Script.
Cream Colour Bases tend to wear poorly when worn alone, because they have a lot of slip and take awhile to dry down, especially if you use them opaque–if you sheer them out to a wash, they will cooperate better when worn alone. I recommend setting with powder if you wear it over the lid. The creaminess of the formula, however, enables it to glide on like butter and easily blended across wherever you might apply it. I can see some using this as a blusher, perhaps, though not so much as a contour because of the shimmer in the finish.
MAC Me Over is a 51-piece collection for fall, which will launch in North America on August 25th, 2011 and internationally in September 2011. It will launch online approximately August 23rd but there is no concrete online launch date. All products–unless otherwise noted–are limited edition.

Looks like a great blusher for skin tones on the darker end of the spectrum.
wow, that’s nice
I did not think this would peak my interest but i am pleasantly surprised.
I hate that this can’t be used to contour!! GRRRR!
I’m going to have to check this one out in person. It really caught my interest when I first read the description, but looking at it now, I’m debating purchasing it.I dislike hearing that it has shimmer in it, but I will test it out for sure.
Hmmm how could an NC50 use this? Blush? Eye?
Either!
Oh yes, this is the one I’ve been wanting to buy when I saw it on Chloe spring’11 backstage makeup. Thanks for featuring this Christine 🙂
it looks a lot like root ccb which is a pro one.at first look,I thought they changed the name! btw I am using root for contour so often since the shimmer is more like a sheen and it goes away when it is set with a contour colored powder blush or setting powder.I guess thi one will be great too.
Nice to see MAC release CCBs that are for darker skin tones.
If you are between NC42 and NC44 this colour wil be a lovely lid colour. I use it every morning on the lid and it looks gorgeous!!
I received a mac gift card for the holidays and I know now one of things I’m going to buy! Nice shade for woc!
