MAC MAC Me Over Collection for Fall 2011 (Official)

MAC MAC Me Over Collection for Fall 2011

Launch Date: August 25th, 2011 (North America), September 2011 (International)

This season, our most epic casting call ever, an online contest with thousands of hopefuls submitting a photo or video, each asked to finish this statement: MAC Me Over! Because… James Gager, MAC’s Senior Vice President, Creative Director, picked six stars who best express the MAC Me Over! Motto – style, heart, and soul – to be the face of MAC Fall Colour around the world. A three-part collection each creating a different look: the first features our artists’ favourite nudes and pinks, including classics and new limited-life shades; the other two go bold, one with the season’s of-the-moment shades while the second plays it icy cool.

I don’t by MAC brushes that often but have a small eye (like the male model >___>) but if it’s soft I would be tempted to get that one.

I’m a little vex with MAC model selection. The are lovely people but all the females have the same large eye area ration and only two of them don’t look like they have been picked from a catalog. If you really want a mac make over lest see a bit more diversity in bone structure as well in the face.

Lo Avatar

oh man, i have to politely disagree! i think its an awesome diverse group of models, all different ages, races, sexes, just like MAC motto!! 🙂

Ani_BEE Avatar

But they all have with similar preferred facial structure traits and measurements used to identify beauty. Sure they got the all ages, races, sexes but they didn’t go to far out of the box for these measurements when it come to the face.

I’s nice to see models that don’t look model selected to see what the art of makeup can do for refining the face. I’m personally have a very average face but makeup in particular in the eye area can emphasis your features that don’t really stand out (aka my small eyes and small brown bone).

To me they feel like Catalog models. People you would see with above average beauty to sell items but not so crazy “perfect” either.

Ani_BEE Avatar

I also like to point out that I work in the media field so I’m very aware of how models are select to sell a product to the average comsumer or someone you might meet on a the street verses the high-end brands that want your to feel bad for not being perfect but you can buy our products to make yourself feel opulent or a Goddess.

fixurface Avatar

Very interesting. Shirley is actually from Cleveland and shops at the MACs there all the time and her family is from there. She is just a very regular person trust me, I have met her. Your opinion just sounds negative. These are attractive people but most of the people that auditions were attractive. Is that wrong? Got to use what you get.

leesie Avatar

I’ve been wanting a 226 ever since I read your review raving about it. I don’t care if the rest of the collection is boring–the chance to grab one of those alone makes me so excited!

flyavsted Avatar

So pleased to see I have most of the colors in the quads 😉 Repromotes are good. However, I want nearly all the single eyeshadows (except Satin Taupe). The blushes sound gorgeous!

Jennifer Avatar

This could very well be my big haul for the year. I like the sound of lots of these products!! Definitely considering both quads, all of the fluidlines, a blush, a lipstick, and maybe two eyeshadows. That’s practically $200 before tax, yikes. I hope dissuading swatches & pics are released before then. 😛

Michelle Avatar

I second that! Peachstock is my most used lipstick ever. So versatile. So creamy. Fave MAC lipstick ever!!!! Also lovely is Burberry Romantic Rose. 🙂

Stephanie Avatar

Here we go again. I sense a sleepless night where I spam the MAC website for a stupid brush that they should just make permanent!

Devi Avatar

… Is it bad that I’m rather negative about this sudden number of MAC fall collections? I feel as if there’s going to be a lot of duds within these numerous collections…

That aside, there will naturally be several items from all of these recently announced collections that WILL hit the mark, and I can’t wait to see what those are! Otherwise, I’m skeptical.

Riana Avatar

I feel the same quite honestly. I’m waiting for Semi-precious but it seems like the majority of collections for this year have been a bust.

Quality over quantity, I’m sure MAC is raking in the money but I’m starting to feel disappointed by them.

Christina Avatar

I know what you mean! My wallet cannot keep up with all of the new releases! MAC collections alone will do some damage 😛

Michilicious ~ Avatar

Aww, from reading the title “MAC Me Over” I was thinking maybe it was a bunch of repromoted discontinued and limited edition stuff. I’m sure there will be pretty products in the collection though!

Jessica Avatar

Hey christine is this the collection that MAC will chose regular people to be the face of the collection? Or is that somthing else? Becuase I remember that its supposed to be out this fall.

Judy Avatar

OMG, OMG, OMG I am having a lipstickgasm right now. I have wanted the Prince Noir lipstick since I heard about it a few months ago. As of now, this is the collection I’m saving for (trust me ladies, I’m sure I will say that about every other collection also…lol 😉 ).
My wish list:

Rebel Vivid pinkish purple (Satin) (Permanent)
Prince Noir Deep blue-purple (Matte) (Limited Edition)
Smoked Purple Deep eggplant purple (Matte) (Permanent at PRO)
Runaway Red Rich red-blue (Satin) (Limited Edition)

Lady Grey Eyeshadow Quad

I want a few of the shadesticks, but I must be in “airhead” mode. I don’t know what they are. I’m thinking of: Street Cool & Heirloom

I also want the Teddy eyeliner & Stunner blush.

Oh happy days!!!!!! 😀

mumtaza Avatar

My exact lipstick list,’cept for I already have rebel. And ooh girl do get it!!! I hesitated for a while b/c it’s so rich but it stays on forever. In fact it won’t come off even if you want It to. After that our paths diverge. I want evil eye and dark envy instead (perhaps to wear with jealousy wakes.) Race you, lol!

Marie Avatar

LOL! I JUST bought the 224 after thinking the 226 would never come back! Oh well, I just have to have both then…… 😀

Becca Avatar

I want: the lady grey eyeshadow quad, cakeshop shadestick, maybe I’ll check into the eyeshadows or lipsticks and lipglasses, maybe a fluidline, BOTH of the blushes(of course- I LOVE my blushes) and maybe a cream colour base.

Oh boy……

Wendy M. Avatar

I’m surely going to be poor when this collection launches. XD
Christine, what is the difference between shadesticks and greasepaint sticks?

Jenna Avatar

Unfortunately I will be in Indonesia , on a small island of sumatra without any Internet and no way of ordering these products,:( I have always wanted the 226 and the lady grey eye shadow quad sound great and stunner blush .
I might have to beg a friend to make the online order for me . I am sure the 226 will become a frenzy and you will be left 226less unless you stalk Mac online or crack it when the collection hits the store.

Mel Avatar

I think I’ll be taking a closer look at Prince Noir if it runs warm enough and Oh, Oh, Oh lipsticks. Also Good Times and Social Light lip glasses.

Gretchen Avatar

I’m not at all bothered by the slight disappointment that Semi-Precious is turning out to be with this collection coming out not too long after! My first quad(s), first shadestick(s), not to mention the veluxe pearl shadows. My bank account is going to hate me for sure.

snm Avatar

seeing all the new collections today,I really feel bad about getting myself some clothes this week lol:) the fall collections are always my favourite,I will have to save money until october.I am getting all the fluidlines for sure! wish tendersmoke was available in single pan though :/

Ani_BEE Avatar

I wanted all the Fluidlines as well till I saw the photo’s. Need to see swatches of Midnight Blues and Dark Envy in particular to see if they are forth getting for.

I really wish mac would produce Inkspill Liquidlast in a Fluidline or Superslick fomula.

Laura Avatar

Oooh. Definitely want the 226 and the Fluidlines (except Dark Diversion which I already have)! I’m not crazy about Shadesticks but the colour of Street Cool (Mid-tone grey violet taupe) sounds right up my street. Both of the quads sound interesting too.

shuz4ever Avatar

226…226…226…this is going to be my new meditative chant till i finally buy one. Wish MAC would just go ahead and make it perm.

Grace Avatar

I’m confused by what you mean when you say it anniversarizes Fabulous Felines. Does that mean that all the repromotes are from that collection? Because I don’t remember a lot of them. Thanks!

Icedcaramelllatte Avatar

Wow! This is a pretty large collection but many repromotes and permanent shades so maybe my wallet will be safe. I can’t wait to see Oh, Oh, Oh plum bronze lipstick. Glad to see the shadesticks and Fluidlines back. Also interested in any of the blackened green shades. Can’t wait for pics!

Maya Avatar

Wow! Lol that’s a lot. Christine, why do your prefer the 226 over other brushes like the 224 or 222? Would you still recommend it if I have those? Thank you!

stacey Avatar

That is right. MAC MAC Me over with this deluge of MAC”s products. You can only wear so much makeup……well at least now I can see why the 226 is so special.

meme Avatar

Wow! Seems like we just had a review of the MAC summer collection with all the cute beach/surfing 60’s packaging/campaign.

Marie Avatar

Opinions people…..and Christine especially. If I already have the 219, 217 and 224, do I really need the 226? What will it do differently?

Erin Avatar

The 226 looks thinner and more tapered. Look for reviews on youtube, or google it for pictures. I think it looks like a great brush.

Sylvie Avatar

Hey, if you have the 217, 219 and the 224 (which I all own, as well as the 226), then you don’t need the 226. To achieve the same result as the 226, which I use for crease blending, you can put colour in your crease with the 219 and blend it out with the tip of the 217. I had those two before I got the 226 and so had to think of new ways to use them afterwards to make sure that I continued using all my brushes. The 226 was also a bit prickly, especially after a wash, but I like it for blending in a pinch. If you want a more diffused sort of crease blending, the 224 is a better choice- in other words, you get a more defined line of colour with the 226. So if you already own the 217, 219 and the 224 and don’t feel like spending anymore money on another brush, then you really don’t need the 226 because your current tools already do what it does. I also use the 226 to sweep on colour, but I’m sure you have brushes that already do that. Hope this helps!

Erin Avatar

Wow, I think I may start saving for this one. I’m interested in picking up the 226, and I can’t wait to see the shadesticks, cream colour bases, and eyeshadows!

Piper Avatar

I am super di duper excited for the return of the 226. The lady grey quad sounds exiting and so does the dark green fluid line. I’m actually kind of glad that the other collections sound like complete misses, (semi-precious, colorizations, i’m talking to you!) so i can blow all my money on this. 😀

amanda Avatar

Meh. Just seems like a bunch of permanents and repromotes from the warehouse. I specifically went to pro awhile back to get peachstock and smoked purple, and i also bought rebel with them. Kinda upsets me that theyre only repromoting what they didnt sell during the holidays and not things that the majority of people would love to have a second chance to get their hands on (bite of an apple much?). I think ill want thr red.lipstick, outre e/s and maybe the fluidlines. Pass on the rest

amanda Avatar

Ps i wasnt aware the small shader was discontinued? I see it all the time! And wasn a SE.version in a tartan tale holiday brush set? Weird!

Wendy Avatar

Oh my god. This collection seems so interesting! I have to pick up something from this collection (: Well, alot! Haha. SO EXCTED!

Katie Avatar

Hey Christine, because this anniversarizes the fabulous felines collection, does that mean there will be one that “anniversarizes” the venomous villains? Meaning there is another big collection after this?

Natalie Avatar

Weeee! More brushes!! I live for new/repromo brushes haha! I love building my brush collection. This sounds like a great collection!

Giselle Avatar

Holy cow! MAC just ate my wallet again. This is my must have collection. I want all the lipsticks. All the shadesticks. I also want both blushes. Both eye quads, both liners and maybe a lipglass or two. When will we be seeing some pictures? That PRince Noir lippie is calling my name.

Anna Griffith Avatar

Christine, I’m looking to buy the 217 and 224 soon, but if I get the 226 when it comes out do I need these brushed aswell? thanks

Kim-Mary Avatar

I really hope the Prince Noir lipstick is an actual deep blue purple & not a red or pink purple. I’m so excited about this collection. I am hoping it will be released in Mid-August and not Sept since I will be far away from home. When will we start to see the promotional pictures?

Giselle Avatar

Loving the items. Not the photos too much though. They seem quite tame for such a Fall collection. That will not stop me from buying out this collection though. I want just about everything from it. 🙂

Freya Avatar

I am LOVING every inch of this collection 🙂 It’s like they took my favourite colours and put them into makeup… brilliant! For me, that is. Not for my bank balance, however.

Annie S Avatar

MAC should have done a Harry Potter/ Hogwarts collection for the new movie… with the four houses as the four parts… I think they would have made a killing with that

Piper Avatar

That would have been such a good idea! They’d have to clear it with the harry potter people. I would totally buy like a slytherin-green eyeshadow or whatever, though. 🙂

Alyssa Avatar

that would’ve been so cool! The compact could’ve been the mirror of erised (mirror that lets you see whoever has the matching twin so you can comunicate) and awesome designs on the packaging! Well, i would still let it go till (hopefully!) next year’s fall collection. Better yet, as j.k. rowling has said she may be doing more, just not about harry, they could do it to celebrate the new genre of the world of wizards and witches! Hear me MAC cuz i can promise you that everyone will go crazy over it!

Tara s Avatar

Omg! 226!! You are mine!! Well, along with the other make lovers lol!! Fluidline… You are mine as well!! man oh man MAC!! Why do you do this to us… At least we have time to prepare! I’ll be stalking the Internet for when Christine says it’s online!! I can tell this will be a big order. Husband forgive me, for I have no control!!

Alannah Avatar

Gorgeous!! I love it all, even though it’s not that unique it’s very flattering… looks like there’s something for everyone!

Dini Avatar

Wow! This collection seems so greatly overwhelming but so very very lovely! The promo pictures make me smile – love the makeovers. Even the nail polish descriptions caught my eye. I’d better start saving up now…

Ana Avatar

Now THIS is what a MAC collection should be! These products all look amazing (i hope the swatches meet the expectations I know we are all having right now, lol!!)

My hubby is going to be soooooooo mad at me after this collection lol!!!

BTW– LOVE THE MAKEOVERS– excellent idea MAC to use REAL people– please do that more often!!!!!!!

rashmi Avatar

yeahhhhhhhhhhhh 226 is BACK 😀 😀 what an awesome collection and am sure am going to splurge on all the fluidlines 😀 😀
thanks for sharing Christine 😀

Jenn Staz Avatar

WOW Christine, Thank you so much for sharing all of this! The collection looks amazing. It’s unlike the past couple of collections where I haven’t been tempted to buy. Are MAC fall collections typically the largest?

Judy Avatar

Ooooh. Such beautiful promotional photos of all the winners! I am really in love with this collection. This will be my haul for the season I believe. I still have plans on ordering from the other upcoming collections as well, but I may have to limit to just a few items because this one is going to break the bank. Thank you, Christine! Can’t wait for swatches, especially of Prince Noir. That is mine!!!!

kate Avatar

I am FINALLY excited about Mac again! These promo images make my heart flutter. I’m going to start saving up immediately for the Fall.

One thing, though- The picture they supplied of the Evil Eye quad doesn’t really seem to match the shade descriptions. Kinda looks like somebody in PR goofed. Funny thing is, I like both the descriptions and the image, so I think I’ll be happy either way…

ellie Avatar

can’t remember where i read this but i heard that MAC sculpting powders are coming out with one of there fall collections. anyone know anything about this?!

Miranda R Avatar

Well, it’s official. I am going to be very broke after this collection comes out. The shade sticks look great as do the eyeshadow quads.

Rosie Avatar

This collection seems boring, just average fall colors nothing special. I’ll probably still pick a few things up, but nothing is screaming at me right now. Then again swatches and seeing it in person can always change my heart!!!

Mallory Avatar

This collection is huge! It’s nice cause there may be something for everything, but I always get so overwhelmed when there is so much. I can’t make choices and then I end up walking away with nothing.

Brie Avatar

Luckily for my bank account, only a few items in this collection interest me…Seaside cream colour base could be my must have, as well as the Oh Oh Oh lipstick (though I’m afraid from the description it may be more brown/bronze based than the promo pic shows). I’ll also check out the 226 (I have the 224 already and might be able to do without) and the Deep Sea nail polish. Other than that, I’ll save my money for the Sheen Supreme collection since I’m obsessed (Eight Sheens and counting)!

Gina A Avatar

MAC why do u have to do this to us!!!! I am so excited for this collection! i better start saving up! Collection total for me was almost 170 dollars b4 tax!! Not allowing myself to spend more than one hundred tho!

On my list:

Peachstock Lipstick ~ 14.50
Creamy Bisque Eyeshadow ~ 15.00
Moleskin Eyeshadow ~ 15.00
Heirloom Shadestick ~ 17.50
226 Brush ~24.50
226 BRUSH U R MINE!!! LOL super excited but will have to order online since i will be on vacation 🙁

Miss Mercurial Avatar

Power to MAC for choosing a guy as one of their faces. No reason girls should be the only ones who get to have all the fun 🙂

mel Avatar

I’m not sold on the promo photos… they made perfectly fine looking people looks ridiculous. I’m sure it was fun for them, though.

As for the collection- if we take the current pattern into consideration, I’m sensing a lot of busts with a few good to great products scattered throughout. Why can’t they just put out smaller, fewer collections with a higher rate of hits than misses? Oh, right, Estee Lauder knows a lot of people will buy anything with the MAC label on it regardless of quality. Capitalism in action, folks!

Shelley Avatar

Holy carp this is HUGE…so definitely something for everyone. I LOVE this idea surrounding the collection. They are reaching ouuta the box for sure with Bloggers and now this. LoVE it!

Sofia Avatar

is Take Root CCB anything like Root CCB that is been discontinued ( or limited..cant recall) years ago? i remember buying wihtout much thinking and turned out to be one of my favorite.

Allison Avatar

I’m so glad they brought Dark Diversion back. I regret not getting it when I saw it the first time. I shall not make the same mistake again!

Anna Avatar

Seaside CCB and Stunner blush sound great! What a wonderful promo picture, I love it, especially that bottom left transformation. FIERCE!

Karen Avatar

Oh I am SO excited to see the 226 is back. I will have to buy a couple to add to my brush collection, I regretted only buying one last time!

Grace Avatar

This all looks really great and very wearable which I’m excited about! I too am glad the 226 is making another appearance because I missed out on it before, but I’m just dying for the 165 to be re-promoted!!!

Elle Avatar

This collection looks cool, but I’m kinda bummed that so many of the repromotes lately are repromotes from, like, last year…that or I have just OD’ed so much on past MAC collections that I’m dying for something newer. Le sigh. I want another round of bloggers’ colors… 🙂

Cat Avatar

Are we really supposed to believe that these were just random fans of the MAC line that got chosen? Because they’re all screaming “models-that-haven’t-made-it-yet”… disappointing. I agree with some of the other comments, I wish there was some more diversity in bone structure and eye size.

Liz Avatar

the fluidlines look *so* gorgeous – especially Avenue! *___* with IMATS happening here this month and all these mac collections next month, I’m going to have to do some serious budgeting.

Gloria Avatar

Wow, I’m looking at a $253 purchase prior to taxes… I really hope your reviews and swatches help me lower that amount, Otherwise I’m looking at picking up some overtime at work! 😉

Becca Avatar

this is my list so far:
The Wee Coquette Liglass
Lady Grey Eyeshadow Quad
Mythical Eyeshadow
Butternutty Shadestick
Cakeshop Shadestick
Seaside CCB
Stunner blush
Equilibrium blush
and that’s narrowed down…
I REALLY want Stunner Blush and Mythical eyeshadow (it looks like a really colour) but I want the other things a lot two and I still want the UD 15th anniversary eyeshadow palette, if I can get my hands on it by the time that I get back to Canada… which i probably won’t :((( oh well, and I’m broke right now, haha, did I mention that yet? 😉

amanda Avatar

In the pic of all the makeup together they show 7 eyeshadows and only list discriptions of 6 do you see that and also when did dark diversion come out before meaning which collection?

Allison Avatar

If I remember correctly, Dark Diversion came out sometime last year with the Venomous Villians collection. Anyway, that was when I noticed it. I hadn’t yet become as addicted to MAC just yet but I was on my way:)

Krista Avatar

OH. MY. GOD. Those are my first three words when I clicked to see what’s in this collection. MAC MAC Me Over has WON ME OVER. <3 Can't wait to get y hands on these! 🙂

Troian Avatar

I’m a little confused about the descriptions of the lipsticks and then seeing the pictures. Prince Noir is suppose to be a deep blue-purple lipsticks (I was thinking Go for It, but darker matte type) the picture it looks brown. Same with Oh Oh Oh suppose to have purple in it, but looks like a dark peach color. MAC who is coming up with these colors that aren’t matching? No cool.

Katie Avatar

I too am confused about some of the lipstick descriptions but I think Prince Noir is indeed a blue-purple lipstick. It was used on some models in the recent runway shows and it does appear to be a blue/purple lipstick. Google MAC Prince Noir and you should find some images of models wearing the lipstick from the runway show. I don’t know why it looks brown in the pic and Rebel also doesn’t look the same as the original Rebel. It seems that the descriptions for Offshoot and Oh Oh Oh need to be switched. Offshoot looks like the purple/bronze lipstick and Oh Oh Oh looks like the mid-tone pink lipstick because the pic of Offshoot doesn’t look pink at all but does look bronze. So all we can do is wait till swatches are available and see what the outcomes are but the descriptions are strange indeed. I usually only buy lipsticks from MAC but I want the Midnight Blues Fluidline because it looks so pretty. I’m interested in the plum/bronze lipstick whether it’s Oh Oh Oh or Offshoot, I really hope its the creamsheen finish but if its pretty enough and is a Lustre, I’ll get it anyway.

SkatCat Avatar

I am loving the MMO collection greatly even though I’m slightly confused by the color descriptions like some of you say and the actual items.
I was wondering if we have heard anything about the Cindy Sherman, Gareth Pugh, Johnny Weird or the holiday collections coming out within the next two months or so?? I need to know. I am jsut so impatient lately with MAC.

Joyce Galugbo Avatar

The collection looks OK,but I feel MAC needs to take a break from Limited Additions. Most of the collections especially this year, were terrible. For this collection I will get the Evil Eye Palette, if the the green color is similar to Femme Noir and couple of the Fluidlines.

I think MAC should do a Revival Collection, bringing back products that were very popular with customers of different ethnic group. I love to the Spiced Chocolate palette, MSF Warm Blend, MSF Warmed, MSF Metal Rock, 3n lipgloss, Femme Noir Eyeshadow and 5n Lipstick to be revived.

Or MAC could re-formulate its foundation line. Improve the color range and make the skin undertones more sophisticated like the MUFE HD line, sort out oxidation problems, make all foundations long wearing, heat and transfer resistance; and investigate the skin break out issues associated with the Studio Fix foundation line.

Well, sorry about the rant.

Jillian Avatar

this collection is huge! I know two things i am definitely getting: dark diversion fluidline (i missed it the last time it came out) and avenue fluidline. I’m a huge fan of fluidline!

Am I the only one who noticed that the Dark Envy and Midnight Blues fluidlines look identical to the Ivy and Siahi fluidlines from the Mickey Contractor line that came out not too long ago?? I have both Ivy and Siahi and I swear these “new” fluidlines are identical to those ones.

I finally saw a swatch of the Prince Noir l/s I’m dying for. It’s beautiful. More like a dark, rich berry color. Probably a must have for the Fall season. Can’t wait until Christine gets it and swatches it.

Ooooh. I think I’m going to really like this collection. I love the third look and can’t wait to find out the colours she is wearing.

Oh jeez! Everything looks fabulous except for Satin Taupe, which I already have and love. My wallet will be beating me up after this collection…

I’m excited about the fluid lines because I’ve never owned one and I want color! I don’t need another black or brown gel liner. I’m especially drawn to the dark envy and midnight blues.

I love when MAC does collections focusing on the art of makeup more than the packaging. Don’t get me wrong i love some Hello Kitty and Venomous Villians but IMO the actual product suffers in more than hlaf of the collection. All of these colors look beautiful, I am definetely interested!

I’m late to the party, but this is a pretty cool idea! I look at these photos of the people selected, and I keep thinking “Kevyn Aucoin.” I think he’d approve of all these looks – and the concept.

You could buy the permanent shades for 50 cents less any other time. I’m not going to buy anything permanent because it would just cost more.

I’m curious if Prince Noir, Kittenish & Cunning are very similar? When I first read the description for Prince Noir it said it was a deep blue purple, but in reality it’s a red-purple color. Help!

Also, do you ladies/gents think buying Smoked Purple is worth it? It’s such a beautiful color, but… I am reading that since it’s from the old formula matte finish lipstick the color is hard to pull off.

Katie Avatar

From the swatches I’ve seen of Prince Noir, it appears to be a lot like Cunning and I hope so because I’ve been searching high and low for a lipstick that color.

I have Smoked Purple. It’s a beautiful shade of eggplant purple, but the matte finish is horrible. It’s very tough to get this lipstick on even when your lips are moistened. Until MAC changes their matte lipsticks to a better formula I would recommend you not get it. It’s not like Candy Yum Yum, Mehr or even how I am hearing Prince Noir matte lipsticks are now. They are new formulas. Just my opinion.
