MAC Tabloid Beauty: Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolour Reviews, Photos, Swatches, Lip Swatches
Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolours only vary from the regular PLWs in one way: they have a shimmery gloss on the end. However, you can actually purchase replacement gloss ends (just alone), and you can always opt to swap it for the regular clear gloss or replace it with the shimmery one. I’d recommend the same application technique with these as I did in the previous post. Oh, and while I’m remembering, last I checked, you can B2M for these as well… (Hopefully, someone who has done B2M more recently than I–it’s been many months for me–can confirm or deny!)
Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolour ($21.00)
- Jazz-Y-Razz is a shimmery, almost frost finish shade of muted pinky-beige. MAC describes this shade as “dirty plum with pearl,” but I really didn’t see much plum in it myself. Despite its frostiness, it applies well and looks even on.
- Night Rose is a beautiful shade of rosy pink with a soft shimmer (which is emphasized by the shimmery gloss coat). This has always been one of my favorites, because it’s so wearable and looks good on a variety of skin tones.
- Lishious is a peachy-brown with champagne shimmer. It looks a little creamy once applied, but it has that shimmer to it as well.
- Boss Brown is a warmed-up brown with a copper/orange tone to it and gold shimmer. Nice, full color coverage.
- Betwixt is a coppery red with copper-bronze shimmer. This is a nice mix of red without being overwhelmingly red. It applies smoothly and gives opaque color.
- Sappho is a plummy berry that really doesn’t have much shimmer in its color coat, but the shimmery gloss coat adds it. This one blends really well with the lip, because it seems to meld with your natural lip color.

betwixt is gorgeous!
i want the night rose, lishous and saphio
I’ll check Night Rose & Sappho
are they drying? I never used them before
They can be if you don’t moisturize well before hand!
Ooh, Night Rose and Sappho are gorgeous! Do you think they’re drying compared to other lip products?
Compared to regular lipsticks, definitely. They’re like matte lipsticks – not the ultra driest matte out there – but they cling and can be drying if you don’t keep your lips moisturized beforehand.
ohh i’m loving night rose!
Jazzy Razz and Lishious are both very pretty, but I am not really excited by this collection.
i love jazzy also
hi!!
wow that are some awsom colors !!!
I wish I could buy them to … but I wouldn’t know which color I would take.
Xx
some of these colours surprisingly look better on the lips than in the tube!
i did want to ask what the wear of these are like?
how many hours do you get?
i do find these type of long wear colours tend to go a bit bitty/flakey after 3 or so hours (well the estee lauder ones do anyway!).
If you reapply the gloss, you won’t have any problems with it going flaky or anything. I find these are a PITA to remove, because they CLING on for dear life. I get 12 hours of wear myself, if I don’t eat a lot of oily stuff. MAC has tested the wear on these to confirm their claim of 8 hours of wear.
I like all of them. Night Rose is a pink I have been looking for for a while now. I might go and test that one especially.
i was turned off these because i found the first one i tried so drying- it made my lips feel tight and chapped- but i do have to say that sappho looks pretty tempting…
That’s why I super, super moisturize (though they improved these at some point, I believe, but I can’t remember the year) before applying these!
Hi!
Sorry this comment doesn’t belong here but…
I was wondering, if you could only have one brush would it be the Mac 109 or 188?
(I don’t use foundation – so blush or highlight most likely)
Thanks : )
-Sunny
109!
I agree with your mum, Christine, Night Rose is absolutely beautiful, a real must! I like all of these, except Sappho, I love the shimmer in them and the topcoat being shimmery too. I will definitely check these out next time I’m at a Mac counter (which will be next week when Spring Colour Forecast is finally here!).
I left a comment under the other Pro Longwear page; I have many of these. They really do stay on until you remove them with makeup remover (just be sure not to rub your lips together during the drying stage [you can mix colors together while they’re very wet). They do dry out your lips. The wand is great – you can get a very specific lipline fairly easily.
You can B2M these. I just did a couple of weeks ago. 🙂
Wow. These are stunning. I wasn’t expecting to like so many of these. Thanks for the swatches.
Oh gawd! These look absolutely luscious! Tell me, are they a part of the permanent range? I’ve never noticed them before, and i don’t quite consider myself a mac newbie ..
Yep, they’re permanent & have been around for awhile 🙂
I tried on the Boss Brown one of these years ago when Pro Longwears first came out and this brand of long-wearing lipstick is WAY way better than that horrible one by Cover Girl called Outlast and I imagine that MAC’s one is better than the Max Factor Lipfinity also.
The Outlast one from CG just cracks and peels of withing an hour and a half when all you do is just smile!
betwixt needs to be renamed gorgeous because that would fit better….
Loving Betwist
I love them all! but just a question what does B2M mean?
Back to MAC! It’s their recycling program.
Jazz Y Razz, Night Rose, and Boss Brown are gorgeous just my style. Awesome swatches Christine!!
I need Sappho!
These are soooo pretty
Gosh, the Night Rose looks beautiful! It looks ordinary in the tube, but the gloss really brings out the shimmer. Does it cling to your lips the way the Rouge Allure Laque does? When I wear the deeper colours like Phoenix or Dynastie, they stain my lips.
I totally planned on skipping this collection and just saw Jazzy Razz on you and WOW!!! That looks amazing! I might have to go check this out:)
Out of these colors I like Jazz-Y-Razz, Night Rose and Lishious the best! I probably won’t be buying any of them. MAC already has so many gorgeous lipsticks that I want and they’re cheaper! =)
Night Rose will be mine 🙂
Considering MAC is big on recycling—> The limited edition packaging sleeve is neat but really just a waste of product..
Hiya there. Are you based in the UK? If you are, then there is a brand at Superdrug called GOSH. Their makeup is manufactured by MAC. It’s worth trying if you want to save a few pounds.
those are great!!! the colors are so pretty, and they actually look thick, good coverage, like they’re really long lasting.
just ordered “lishious” and “loyal” based on your beautiful swatches.
Pro Longwear Lustres differ from regular Pro Longwears in more ways than what you have listed. True, they have the shimmery top coat, but the actual formula differs just as much as a lipglass does from a lustreglass. PL Lustres have more sheer color payoff as opposed to PL which have more opaque color.
These are all opaque on me, so I didn’t see any difference in sheerness from these from regular Pro Longwears!
Love them all on you, you make me want to buy them all.
Do you think you would ever do this for the drugstore brands that are long wear double ended, like Revlon? that would be great.
Haha!
Probably not, just because they are a pain in the butt to swatch and kind of destroy my lips for a few days afterward. I’ve never found a drugstore version that I liked enough to pay $12-14 for so I definitely wouldn’t want to waste my money & my lips health for them at this point!
Thanks for doing it, even with normal lip products it’s a work out for the lips. I could only imagine it with these would be worst.
My pleasure, Amanda!
I love the longwear. My fav colors were DC so I’m excited to see these.
Were the price of these always $21?
No, I think the lowest price I remember was maybe $18 or $18.50… but they have gone up over the years.
