MAC Spring Colour Forecast: Blush Ombres Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Each part includes one “Blush Ombre,” which is a new product type. The Blush Ombres are really pretty to look at, and they are pretty large. They’re the size of MAC’s Beauty Powders, Pressed Powders, etc. Each of the Blush Ombres has a gradient that fades from one color to another, but in reality, you just swirl your brush on top to apply a single shade. These are all decently pigmented and feel like more pigmented beauty powders from the ultra soft, silky texture.  Each blush is 9 grams / 0.31 oz. and retails for $25.00.

Official MAC description: A powder blush featuring a shade wave of gentle ombre hues. Ultra-fine formula provides the cheeks with flawless, medium-buildable coverage and lightly pearled, natural-looking radiance. Limited edition.

Blush Ombres

  • Azalea Blossom swirls together to blend into a soft, cool-toned pink with an almost lilac to it. For some reason, it reminded me of Saint Germain Lipstick in its coolness and pink tone, but it’s quite obviously not that cool-toned nor the same tone of pink. While there’s definitely shimmer in the powder, it’s very subtle when applied.
  • Ripe Peach is a peachy-orange with subtle gold sheen/shimmer. Like all of the blush ombres, the shimmer is very minimal and hard to see.
  • Vintage Grape is a dirty plum-purple. There’s nearly no shimmer that you can detect when applied, and it is surprisingly dark. Luckily, when applied with a brush, you can build up the intensity so you don’t look like someone punched you in the cheek!
  • Springshine is a dirty medium-brown that reads fairly neutral. I could see this working as maybe a bronzer or a pop of bronze on cheeks. Like the other shades in this product family, the shimmer is very subtle.

Oh. My. God. I am loving so much of this collection. I REALLY want to try these now! THe peach one stands out as something thats different from many of my blushes…. I’d love to experiment with these. SOOOO pretty!

I’m NW15 and ripe peach is GORGEOUS on my super pale skin. I would definitely try it on before you rule it out, as I didn’t think it would work either and I actually liked it more than Azalea Blossom which surprised me.

I’m so glad to hear this. I was hunting high and low (all stores in and around NE sold out of Ripe Peach. I finally called a store in NYC that still had a few in stock and ordered two. I was getting worried as people were commenting it looked too orange. I am an NW15 as well, so this is good news!

Christine, you are the Queen of Beauty Blogging. This single collection contains at least one week’s worth of posts for a typical blog.

There is commentary, arm and lip swatches, and tonnes of photos–I don’t know how you do it.

Bravo.

Ripe Peach looks gorgeous! Azalea blossom looks good too, and I can see Springshine as a bronzer, but the other one…. bruised like, would hate to see it on my Asian skin.

aradhana Avatar

these look pretty…but i think i’m going to have to control myself because this collection is way too huge! i would have thought spacing out the collections would be a better marketing strategy….?

Hey Christine (or anyone else reading),
What skin tone would be best for purple/lilac blushes? I’ve usually stuck to pinks as blushes (I’m NC25, asian skin tone btw). Is it geared toward people with darker (and cooler?) complexion?

RachelMarie Avatar

I wanted Azaela Blossom and Ripe Beach, but I’m extremely fair and the first is too purple toned and the second too orange… glad I’m saving myself $50! The rest of this collecting is bankrupting me though

alisha Avatar

just got Vintage Grape today.. I can say it looks NOTHING like that swatch and is acctually a gorrrrrrrrgeous plum color when buffed out/applied with the 187.. I’m in LOVE with this blush!!!

Az Avatar

Hmm I wanted to get Azalea Blossom but now I guess it’s a lil bit cool for me, so just Ripe Peach. Do you think it can be orange for NC30?

Radhika Avatar

I ordered a bunch of lip stuck online, but now I think I should’ve got ripe peach… I kept debating whether to get it or not. I think I’m going to have to get that one in person. ps, is it just me or does Ripe Peach look a little like NARS’ Orgasm in the pan?

ak Avatar

The Ripe Peach looks more slight-pink/coral-ish on you Christine, and I’d rather it would look more orange-y though on me an NC45. What do you think Christine is it worth me buying it?

The Vintage Grape and even strangely enough the Azalea Blossom look OK to me though, I’m comtemplating buying the Vintage Grape even though I always wanted an orange blush, not a plum one.

kfm Avatar

That’s actually what I was about to ask. I have Dame, so I’m glad to know that there’s potentially enough difference that I can excuse myself for buying it. The Ripe Peach does look a little orange for my skin (NW15- although I own and wear the PRO shade “Devil”, which is way more intense), but I might try that. Likewise Vibrant grape, since it doesn’t seem too close to anything I have already. Eventually, I’ll have to pick one.

Mina Avatar

Christine! Can you please tell me if this colour is similar to MAC’S PINK SWOON, because I just recently purchased that and I wouldn’t wanna get a similar blush

knownever Avatar

In the pan Azalea Blossom is the most breathtaking of the four, but in terms of on the skin I’m torn between Ripe Peach and Vibrant Grape. I’ve never seen anything like this color gradient blush before.

Reyna Avatar

How do you think Springshine and Ripe Peach would look against NC45 skin tone? I love the swatches but I’m leery that they wont show up much.

Jackie Avatar

you should totally do actual cheek swatches or something, lol

anyways i ordered Azalea Blossom for my fair/light beige/pink undertone skin, i figured i’d stay safe until i actually get to try ripe peach in person 🙂

Holly Avatar

For those of you who have tried Ripe Peach, is it comparable to a blush in the perm line? I like the color but I don’t really like the idea of spending 25 bucks, haha.

Candice B Avatar

I am a NW 45(brown skin),same skintone as Gabrielle Union, and Ripe Peach is sooooooo gorgeous! I was nervous at first have no fear, trust me,it is beautiful on the skin.It gives the right hint of peach it doesn’t show up orange at all! Its totally spring and summer and since it LE I will be purchasing another. I think I want Vintage Grape I have Hot Planet mineralize duo blush that can sub for Azalea blossom. I know we on blushes but Fresh Salmon paired with Kumquat is gorgeous for brown girls as well. Hope this helps!

jenna Avatar

i really like the ripe peach and think it is . i’ve been using it a lot now that i have bought. i think i might go back for the springshine!! =) idk i have been on a blush hype lately since i have almost used up most of my shy beauty.

Ferarri Avatar

Vintaga Grape is so beautiful on my asian yellow tone skin. I am considering to buy it next week. It looks dark purple on the pan but a nice rosy berry on my cheeks….so beautiful. RM105 here, compared with the normal blush of RM75, but the size is more than double the normal blush…9 gm instead of 4 gm. Gram for gram, it is cheaper!

Brooke Avatar
